Why Owner chose Mouliets-et-Villemartin
We immediately fell in love with its setting, unique character and luxury accommodation and finishings. The locals are incredibly friendly, the area offers endless opportunities to explore, and we would be there all year-round if we could!

Whole Family for a Birthday trip
Absolutely wonderful from start to finish – well apart from the French air traffic control strike, but even that was mitigated by Tom leaving us emergency supplies and booking us into the pizza place next door (which was excellent) for a late dinner.
Family aged from 3 to 73 and all loved the house, bbq, gardens and pool. Everything we needed with delightful rooms and quality throughout, super peaceful location but only minutes to local shops, markets and vineyards. Shared house info with everyone and If I didn’t live in New Zealand I’d have already booked my return.
Beautiful spacious home
Fabulously large property with beautifully refurbished rooms. We were 12 people but the layout, including numerous living areas, meant everyone had their own space if they wanted.
Stunning location on the river and short drive to town. I would recommend to anyone.
A dreamy villa in a stunning location!
The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated. We were staying in one of the rooms overlooking the garden and pool area, which was gorgeous to wake up to.
We really had the most enjoyable weekend in this house and we can’t recommend it enough. Can’t wait to go back!
Truly beautiful part of France & a wonderful house
Amazing! We spent a long weekend with friends and this was genuinely a weekend to remember! A huge and luxurious house, kitted out perfectly and eloquently! The location is just ideal. On the banks of the river you immediately feel peace when you drive up to the house. We'll be back again in the Summer with our family! Thanks very much!
The market town of Castillon la Bataille is situated just across the river. With its old stone bridge and wonderful views it holds a typically French street market every Monday morning and is well served by restaurants, boulangeries, banks, pharmacies and supermarkets. It was the site of the 100 year war in 1453 and the battle of Castillon is celebrated in July and August every year with spectacular re-enactment.
The stunning medieval village of Saint Emilion is just 12km away, whose architecture and surrounding vineyards are part of the World Heritage of UNESCO. Lac du Cadie, a man-made lake, is a few minutes away by car and has an excellent large beach with safe swimming and water activities in the Summer months.
A canoe trip along the Dordogne is a great way to see the local wildlife, as well as the odd Chateau hidden amongst the trees.
A 90 minute drive brings you to the coast where, along with endless white sandy beaches, with you will find the town of Arcachon famous for its delicious oysters and Europe’s largest sand dune.
Bordeaux is easily accessible by train from Castillon, or by car, and the airport is within an hour’s drive. Bergerac airport is also reached within an hour.
