Belmont Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

**** Open late April thru October... Closed in the winter...

**** For WINTER, see our OTHER LISTING #71156. 'Ski Cottage...Minutes to Okemo...' ****

A one-room Vermont mountain Cabin one mile to picturesque Belmont Village and Star Lake, and 6 miles to Okemo Resort and Ludlow. Enjoy this guest cabin on a knoll above our home, with a deck overlooking Star Lake, meadows, mountain vistas and spectacular sunsets. Sleeps 1 or 2 guests (Queen); completely renovated with new, modern kitchenette and bath. A beautiful mountain get-away, yet close to activities.

Nearby to mountain lakes - swim, fish, boat rentals. Central to sightseeing, golf, tennis, horseback riding, hiking, biking; near historic Weston Playhouse and Weston Priory. Surrounded by Vermont forests and autumn foliage.

We are in the heart of the Green Mountains between Killington and Stratton/Bromley. We have beautiful (spectacular!!) views off to the west and northwest (great sunsets). The cabin sits on a hill, at the edge of a pasture, at 2000 feet above sea level and overlooks a lake and mountains beyond. We are one mile from Star Lake which has a beach and boat access.

Share our corner of Vermont paradise, surrounded by 180 acres of our land, and hundreds more acres of friends, family and the State of Vermont. We have our own trail network for hiking, and there's lots of other hiking all around the town and local area. On our land across the road from the cabin there are four beaver ponds that string along a brook that runs into Star Lake.

Although nestled away in the hills of Vermont, our cabin is in the heart of the Vermont ski and tourist area so there are lots of restaurants, shops, and activities within 5 to 10 miles.

NO SMOKING

DOGS allowed with permission; please inquire when booking.

(sorry, NO CATS)

NOTE – no TV, so enjoy a real get-away vacation :) ... tho the cabin does have hi-speed internet :):) and a radio/CD player.

Available late April thru October

For WINTER rentals see our ski cottage, VRBO #71156, or call/email for more info.

About The Owner

My wife and I are retired and live full time in Belmont. This guest cabin sits on a knoll above our house. Come visit us in our little corner of paradise :)

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2004

Why The Owner chose Ludlow / Okemo Mountain Area

Ron's family began coming to Belmont for summers in 1956 and his parents moved here full-time from New York City in 1970. As a teenager Ron worked on a local farm and the family came up to Belmont for every vacation, all year 'round. Ron and Dottie moved here full-time in 2001 and enjoy all of Vermont's seasons -- You will too :)

What makes this cabin unique

We are in the heart of the Green Mountains between Killington and Stratton/Bromley, and minutes to Okemo. We have beautiful (spectacular!!) views off to the west and northwest (great sunsets). Our cabin sits on a knoll at 2100 feet above sea level and overlooks a lake with a 75 mile view across the mountains of Vermont and into New York State (we see the highest mountain in NY). We are one mile from Star Lake which has a beach and boat access. The cabin is very private being surrounded by 180 acres of our land, and hundreds more acres of friends, family and the State of Vermont. We have our own trail network for hiking, snowshoeing and xc skiing, and there's lots of other hiking all around the town and local area. On our land across the road from the cottage there are four beaver ponds that string along a brook that runs into Star Lake.

..... and we have a moose that visits every now and then [EMAIL us for this picture and many others].

Although private, this cabin is in the heart of the Vermont ski and tourist area so there are lots of restaurants, shops, and activities within 5 to 10 miles (Mt. Holly, Ludlow, Weston, etc.)

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks again, Ron. It was a pleasure meeting you. I had a wonderful time there in your neck of the woods... one of the best weeks of my life... really!

Please keep me updated on things. I believe I would like to book again next year. Maybe for two-three weeks this time. (Mid Sept to mid Oct., perhaps).

Thanks,
Oct 2006

2016 Closers!

  • 4 of 5

Our first vacation in Vermont and Ron had the gas stove warming the studio cabin upon our arrival. Sweet. Even with snow and high winds over night, we were comfy cozy in our little room. The cabin had all the amenities we needed and the setting was superb. Our short stay was busy with a trip to the Vermont Country Store just a few miles down the road into Weston. Tons of free sampling so I skipped lunch! Hiked Ludlow Mtn (Okemo ski hill) which I would rate as easy to moderate. Upon reaching the summit you must complete it with a trip up the fire tower, regardless of the high winds... Our highlite on this vacation was a trip to the Vermont Inst. of Natural Sciences in Quechee, just an hour away. Lots of interesting and educational programs and information on birds of prey; bird rehabilitation; great lectures; etc. Check out their website because they do fantastic work there. If you're a Nature Nut, you will truly like this adventure. The Local Country store at the bottom of the hill from the cabin was quaint, quiet and well stocked. West Lebanon is only an hour away if you're looking for taxless shopping! All in all, the cabin is well situated, very comfortable, well equiped and we barely scratched the 'exploration' surface of this beautiful area of Vermont. We are due for a return trip in the New Year with a longer stay (and earlier booking dates) as there is still yet a lot more to explore. Thank you Ron and Dottie for allowing us to stay and experience the beauty and your hospitality of the Green Mountains. Hope to see you once again some time in the New Year .

Peaceful and Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week staying in this charming, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable cabin with our dogs. The view of mountains with Star Lake in front of them was fabulous, and we sat on the deck watching the sunsets nearly every evening. Then we stayed on the deck watching the stars come out-- so many stars in the clear, dark night sky! The whole cabin is arranged so efficiently that, even though only one room, it was plenty roomy and had everything we needed. It was also wonderfully cozy with the little stove warming it up when the weather got cooler, and we very much enjoyed a rainy day reading and relaxing inside. We didn't have a chance to meet Dottie, but Ron was very friendly, welcoming, and available, and he gave us squash and cucumber from their garden. We enjoyed hiking on the trails in their woods and also on some hikes that were included in the very helpful folder of local information they've complied. We're already talking about wanting to go back!

Vermont Paradise

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a peaceful place with what rural Vermont has to offer and off the tourist path, this is the place. The cabin is comfortable (2 adults and a small dog) and super clean. Awesome deck to enjoy nature all around, plenty of closet space, a well stocked kitchen and every small detail taken care of. Comfortable bed, slept with open windows listening to the wind outside. No tv a big plus. Bring some books, food, wine and your walking shoes. Enjoy what nature and the Untermans have to offer. Thank you for having us!
