THE VERY Centre of Paris - yet quiet. 4 minutes stroll to Louvre

Bedrooms 1
Space 430 sq. ft.
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 3 - 180 nights

About the property

Quiet apartment in the very centre of Paris, 1 bedroom apartment

THE Centre of Paris - yet quiet. 1 bedroo apartment, 1st floor (2nd American) no elevator, sleeps 4 (2 adults + 2 children up to teenager age) - double queen sized bed 160cm in the bedroom plus a bed settee in the living area. In a traditional building. Restaurants/shops in abundance within 2 minutes walk. Only a 4 minutes stroll to the Louvre and the Seine. For those of you who want a calm romantic break in the very heart of Paris the apartment is not facing a main street (which also means there is no view from the two large traditional windows in the living area - they look out on to the top of a security glass covered internal courtyard) so no traffic noise to disturb you - peaceful yet no need to use public transport to dine or shop.

Super fast Wifi via fibre optics, telephone for local calls. You are welcomed at the apartment by appointment, no need to collect the keys elsewhere. Washing machine but no dryer, but a pull out line is in the bathroom and a laundry store immediately opposite the building.

Walk out to find classic french charm in local bars, fresh baguettes and croissants from the local boulangeries in the street - everything close to hand.. 2 mins walk from a shopping centre.

A personal view: I've stayed all over Paris, I get to talk to everyone and find the Parisians very friendly and helpful. Even though this apartment is in the absolute centre of Paris you will still dine and shop with the locals as well as tourists - and I find that Rue Saint Honore is almost like a little village, everyone stops for a chat, everyone knows each other. This area has it's own wonderful charm that still pleases me after many years of experiencing and enjoying Paris life - and of course for tourists the location cannot be bettered!

A few questions we've been asked:

Does the apartment suit 4 adults? If you are Parisian you would say yes to that, but we prefer to 'play safe' with your comfort because of space requirements and limit guests to 2 adults and 2 children (up to teenagers).

Does the apartment have a view over Paris?

No, the two large traditional windows look over an internal courtyard covered with security glass. On the other hand you will not be troubled with traffic or general street noise - an enormous benefit in a city centre!

What floor? First, i.e. one up from the ground

Lift? No, but it's not far up!

Is the area 'typically touristic'?

The street is a mix of Parisian flat owners who live and work there, mixed in with tourists who rent out various flats. And it is delightful, like a village in the middle of Paris.

Is the apartment building pretty?

It is a traditional building, the external paintwork is in need of improvement and will be re-done soon. Inside the building the public areas (stairs etc) were completely renovated in november 2012, the apartment was repainted and refurbished in march 2013.

Is renting a private apartment the same as staying in a hotel?

Thankfully not, you eat what you want, when you want. On the other hand there is no daily maid service nor 24/7 reception service - you do your own cleaning up.

Is there a cleaning service payable on departure?

A welcoming and cleaning fee is included in your price. You do not need to clean on your departure but you are expected not to leave dirty crockery and we ask you to take out all rubbish.

Are basic things like shower gel, tea, coffee included?

No, but there's a shop for the little urgent items just across the street!

Is the flat 'safe'? Security keypad entry to the courtyard, high security key to enter the main building, lockable apartment door - so I'd say yes.

Can you order taxis for me? - look in the welcome booklet in the apartment , there are taxi firms there, use the apartment phone, they speak english - it's easy in Paris!

You will be welcomed at the apartment strictly by appointment (normally after 3pm unless otherwise agreed). Give us a latest departure time (normally before 11am), there are no problems for very early departures.

There's a welcome booklet to help you in the apartment, taxi information, shops, restaurants.......

About rue saint honore

Hello, I'm Nicolas - I look after the reservations for the owner, Amaury, more or less as a hobby. All emails and calls will come to me directly - you can be assured of a personal but fast and prfessional service at all times. I am english by birth, have lived in France for over 10 years and expect to stay here. I live in Brittany, which is the very west of France, my hobbies include sailing and sea rowing (in all weathers) - I visit Paris very frequently of course, my preferred city by far! On arrival you will be welcomed at the apartment by Farida or her daughter Nina - at a time of your choosing (normally after 3pm arrival, before 11am departure - but ask us if that is inconvenient for you and we'll try to sort something out!). The nearest luggage deposit is at Gare du Nord - a mere 3km from the apartment and in the right direction for Charles de Gaulle and ideal for the channel tunnel trains of course - making an early arrival in Paris or late departure no problem for you - but IF the apartment is available we'll try to be flexible.

Why rue saint honore chose 1st Arrondissement Louvre

The apartment is walking distance from many key tourist sites in Paris and restaurants, shops etc are all close by. And it is quiet for Paris - the windows look out onto an internal courtyard - no view = no street noise, an important plus in a city.

What makes this apartment unique

Location, location, location - as someone once said!

Guestbook comments from the owner

What an amazing, wonderful week!!! My teen daughter, her best friend, and I spent seven nights in this charming apartment right in the heart of Paris. We felt very safe our entire trip. There were so many attractions conveniently located that we actually walked everywhere the first three days. Shopping, cafes, the Louvre, the Sein River, and Metro station are all within a couple of blocks. The apartment was clean and exactly as described. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends. A+

A really nice place

  • 4 of 5

If you have stayed in Paris before you know that hotel rooms at all but the really expensive hotels are really expensive. This little apartment has several things going for it. First is the location - five minute walk to the Metro, ten minutes to the Louvre, large shopping center just two blocks away and more restaurants than you could eat in if you stayed for a month. The second plus is the price. I can honestly say that I have paid more in Paris for a hotel room that was less than half the size of this apartment.

Working with Nicolas was both easy and friendly. The photos are accurate. Security and entry were not a problem.

So just remember it is Paris where all rooms are small and you will have a great experience with this particular property.

Wonderful time in this apartment

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful time in the apartment of Amaury, the location could not have been better and all dealings with Nicolas before our arrival were impeccable, as was the apartment. The apartment is exactly as advertised and Nicolas promises to put nicer pictures on the advert as the current ones do not do justice to the apartment, particularly at night. Peace and quiet, yet go out of the door and you're in the centre (but Rue Saint Honore is not busy with traffic and is quite narrow, lots of restaurants, shops and 2 minutes from lots of tourist attractions). We had to leave very early, which was not a problem. We'll certainly be back next year!

Very central, cosy flat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed as three girls and felt safe at the apartment. We had everything we needed at home and around. Metro Louvre Rivoli and RER Les Halles was very close. Nicolas very helpful during the reservation. All process was very smooth. Amaury, the owner of the flat, was waiting for us when we arrived. He was very friendly and smiling even though our flight was a couple of hours late. The apartment was very cosy and the location of the apartment was perfect.I would definitely recommend this flat.

Wonderful Location, Beautiful Apartment

  • 5 of 5

Stayed in this apartment for one week in September. We chose this location because we had stayed around the corner in a two bedroom with family before but only needed a smaller place. We think you cannot find a better location in Paris...many major attractions within walking distance including the Louvre, Notre Dame. There is a small grocery store across the street next to the little one that sells wine, a fruit and vegetable store, a butcher, two bakeries and a cheese store all within a block and a half either way. Not to mention numerous (and I mean numerous) restaurants. The road is very quiet in front and more pedestrian and bike based.

The inside of the apartment is exactly as shown in the pictures. You have to get through three doors to get in so you feel very safe. You are also looking at an inside courtyard, not the street, so it is very quiet (when we came out on the street is was always a surprise to see all the hustle and bustle of people moving about.

We were met in front of the property by the agent although all the instructions had been very clear if no one had been there.

The kitchen was very well equipped so we were able to cook many of our meals in purchasing fresh ingredients from local stores. The bathroom was very small but functional.

Had a lovely stay in this property and would definitely recommend it to friends or family.

But we'll be awaiting you in the apartment - no need to travel elsewhere to get the keys.

Life as a Parisienne

  • 4 of 5

My wife, teenage daughter and I rented the flat during the 3rd week of July and had a wonderful experience. The location, layout and facilities are as described. We were looking for a place that was close to the obvious touristy sites while offering the chance to experience real life in Paris- the flat more than met these expectations. The property is well maintained, close to local shopping and the metro and within a short walk of all the great museums (which allowed us to make great use of our Paris Museum Pass). The booking with Nicolas was easy and cordial and the on-site service from Regine was a delight- hint: while there I used Google translate to compose and translate emails with Regine and it worked like a charm. We cooked a few meals in-house and made great use of the cafe's and bistros in the neighbourhood- and are still lamenting the fact that the croissants and baguettes from Gosselin Boulangerie are no longer a short walk down the street.

Our only hitch? One of the great assets of the flat is that the windows open up into a courtyard and not the street- which makes for a quiet atmosphere at night. The week we were in Paris was scorching hot- with little to no breeze in the courtyard- the un-air conditioned flat was really hot for sleeping- perhaps a few fans could be added to the flat's inventory for visitor comfort :)

Chatelet - Les Halles
Car: not necessary

Your romantic apartment, 5 minutes from the Louvre and the Seine, restaurants and traditional shops in the same street and only two minutes walk to the nearest metro station. The 'rue de Rivoli' is 2 minutes away, probably the most celebrated street in Paris for your shopping envies. More than 10 restaurants within a minutes walk from the apartment, of quality (think of making a reservation for these - it's a much sought after area to eat) through to smaller restaurants, french cuisine of course but Chinese and others as well. Local bars (french style of course) only a minute away.

Food shopping in the same street - tradition boulangerie for your morning croissants, baguettes and delicious gateaux. If you're feeling adventurous in the evening, the 'Champs Elysée', the biggest street in the city, is a short (10 minutes) tube trip away for night clubs etc. Far enough away to not be troubled by the noise, close enough to get there easily.
