|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
We rent this studio apartment for short tourist stays. We normally ask for a minimum stay of three days. The apartment is located on the second floor (with elevator) of a building located in the historic centre of Bologna, not far from the main square (Piazza Maggiore). Windows face a wide area of private backyards, so it quiet by night. The apartment offers one single room with all the necessary: a kitchenette, well equipped to prepare any kind of meal with a four ring stove, a table with four chairs, a sofa bed convertible into a queen double bed, some other pieces of furniture. The bathroom has the basin, wc, bidet and bath. Even if not so wide our place has five windows! Maybe the best feature is the panorama over the rooftops of the historic centre.
We own a private web site! Please visit it...

Overall, we were totally pleased with this clean, quiet & secure 3rd floor flat (with elevator). This was our first trip to Europe in many years & the first stop on our 2-week journey. We wanted to buy local foods & prepare some of our own meals. Kitchenette had basics to permit this (gas stove, toaster oven, bar fridge) & a small dining table. Sleep/rest area had fold-out bed (firm, comfy mattress), TV, wireless internet - all served us nicely for 3 nights incl. breakfast & dinners we cooked there. Bathroom had good sized sink for hand washing clothes (also small dryer rack provided), tub & handheld shower - no problem for hot water.
We found a supermarket, coffee shops, wine bars & many gelati bars within 10 minutes walk. Allow 15-20 minutes to Piazza Maggiore & other main attractions. Bus from airport to central city & short walk to flat within 30-35 minutes total. To depart, we walked max 10 min to taxi stand near Piazza San Franceso then 10 min to train station for next leg of trip.
Owner Paolo provided very clear directions & ease of reservations. On-site contact with Claudio who was very helpful in explaining basics of flat & local amenities (for those less familiar with travel in Europe) including recommendations for places to eat.
We stayed for 4 days last fall. A quick bus ride from the train station. We walked everywhere. Apartment was clean, quiet, safe,a very comfortable bed and everything needed to cook. Paolo speaks English and was most helpful with directions and "Best Gelato,Cappuccino and Restaurants".He also ordered the taxi for us for our return ride to the station.
If cooking in, the best homemade tortellini, right down street at the corner.
We highly recommend this apartment for your stay in Bologna.
This was a brilliant apartment. Conveniently located, well furnished and a friendly owner. The local maps and menus were a very nice touch. A wonderful place to base your exploration of Bologna.
We stayed in Ca' di Vale for about a week in February. We enjoyed the apartment very much and the convenience to the city.
The apartment was exactly as described in the listing with a very comfortable fold out bed (I was pleasantly surprised - it was impossible to tell the difference from a regular hotel bed), kitchen and dining table. The inside and outside of the apartment were clean and well maintained.
The owner of the apartment was very helpful in getting us the information about the area and transit to/from the airport.
The area around the apartment is very convenient - we found a grocery store, laundromat, bakery and several shops all within a few blocks.
We went to Bologna to try the cuisine and found the location of the apartment very convenient for many different restaurants. There are several nice local restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk and some fantastic places within a 15-20 minutes walk.
My wife and I are both 67yrs. old and avid walkers. We took one bus from the airport to Ca di Vale, and one taxi back to airport two weeks later. In between we were able to walk from one end to the other of the old city. All the sights, parks, museums, shops, markets, churches, university, and gardens were walkable and, when we tired of the city, so were the quiet hills outside Bologna.
The apt. was very secure and quiet, back from the street with its own courtyard. One night we returned at 2am from a jazz club, and the streets were still full of people and it was safe.
The apt. was clean and description accurate for layout facilities etc. No stove to bake bread, but we ate fresh pasta and pizza from just down the street. There are good restaurants nearby, gelato shops, and coffee/wine bars on every block.
We took a train to Rimini and back for a day trip.
It was perfect for two people and we would return again.

Our family stayed two weeks at Ca'di Vale last summer. The apartment was in excellent condition - clean, comfortable, well-maintained, safe and centrally located. It is small, but there were two of us and a baby so we didn't need much room. The couch that folds out into a sleeper sofa is comfortable with a good mattress. As a matter of fact, we tried to find the name of the manufacturer so we could get the same mattress for our sleeper sofa at home. The kitchen is minimal but has everything you need for a short stay. There is not an oven but we did not plan on baking while on vacation, anyway. We walked just about everywhere - to the market, coffee shop, restaurants.... It is a couple of kilometers to the train station. The only time we took a taxi was if we arrived by train late at night.
We used Ca'di Vale as a home base for our travels to other parts of Italy. It made sense for us, with a baby, to make it our second home and take day trips from there. Claudio, the owner, was gracious and helpful in giving us directions and supplying us with everything we needed. The only thing I would do differently next time is go in the spring or fall. It got quite hot while we were there in July.
Ca' di Vale is located in a quiet street a few metres from Via Sant'Isaia inside the ancient town walls layout, now marked by wide boulevards. In a five minute walk you can reach Piazza Maggiore the real centerpiece of this grand city. Paolo has prepared a brief tourist guide of Bologna useful if you are visiting the town as tourist or you are just considering to visit it: you will find it in our private web site with a wide description of the apartment (if the link is not present in this advertisement, drop a line and we will send it or just Google it).
In Via Sant'Isaia, frequent buses connect the Fair District (Line 14) and every other part of the town. You can easily reach the station with the direct line 21. A frequent and cheap shuttle bus connects the station to the Marconi Airport.
At thirty metres from Ca' di Vale there is a paid parking lot where you can leave a car.
