3 bedroom, 2 bathroom with view of Cortona from the garden
- english, spanish, italian
We bought our house jointly with another British family and our children are all grown up now and we are retired. There is a gap in our renting/ reviews as we did not rent for two years due to illness. We are the same owners since 2000.
Owner purchased this House in 2000
Why Owner chose Cortona
We are so lucky to be able to visit Florence and Rome on the train. Drive in only 45 minutes to Sienna one of my favourite towns.Visit the numerous hill towns in the Val di Chiana and the Val D'Orcia. We are close to the A1 motorway enabling us to travel quickly if we want but we prefer the slow winding roads to the beautiful hill towns.
What makes this House unique
The beautiful restored farmhouse kept the original terracotta flooring and old wooden beams. We can see the beautiful hill Etruscan town Cortona from our garden. Made famous by Frances Maye with her book 'Under The Tuscan Sun' which was made into a film.

Fantastic vacation home
We were absolutely delighted with our accommodations at this charming house. We had everything we could need and more. Our family of five had a wonderful holiday they will remember for a lifetime.
Beautiful farmhouse ideally situated for exploring Tuscany
Plenty of space, warm and welcoming. Easy to get to from the motorway and ideal for exploring southern Tuscany. Cortona is a beautiful hill town only 15 minutes away and below it Camucia has all of the facilities you need for stocking up on good food.
The house is set in a well maintained mature development of 5 Tuscan style bungalows with a huge swimming pool which has spectacular views over to Cortona ( as does the house from its garden and bedroom windows.)
The house was definitely large enough for 6 to 8 persons with three double bedrooms and two mezzanine floors above.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay.
Dear Robert Thank you for taking time to review from your recent stay at La Fenice . I am so glad you enjoyed your visit to the Cortona area and that you found our house and garden to your liking. I am pleased you found “good food” shopping and hopefully the weekly Thursday market in Camucia too. We look forward to welcoming you again. Jenny
Wonderful Stay in Tuscany
Our group of five had a really good stay in this Cortona farmhouse just a few kilometers out of Cortona. The views were great, enjoyed the poolside time, the lodging was one of our best stays on our trip. Good size kitchen for our group and great dining table for us to sit and talk about our trip. Access to and from Florence was very easy. We would definitely stay here again. Thanks!
We are pleased you enjoyed your stay at La Fenice and thank you for writing a review.
We look forward to welcoming you back again.
A wonderful week left us wanting more
A beautiful property in a wonderful location. We didn't venture far but a few visits to the lake and some wonderful meals in Cortona has made us vow to return. The pool and amenities made for a very relaxing holiday. The house feels like home, we didn't want to leave.
Thanks Mark we are glad you and your family had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and look forward to welcoming you all again soon.
Absolutely gorgeous view of Cortona and the countryside. Well laid out with bedrooms and baths up living room, kitchen, and dining on ground floor. Kitchen was well stocked. We hosted a cooking class at the house and had everything needed. Garden is a great setting for meals or morning coffee. Kids enjoyed the pool and it was huge (big enough for a lap swimmer). Lots of towels and pretty much everything needed.
Be sure to ask owners about hiring their friend Stefano to take you on a tour or do a cooking class. Plenty of parking. Actual grocery store was an easy 10 minute drive. Owners were easy to communicate with and onsite checkin was handled very well.
We were a family of 5 and this could comfortably accommodate 3 couples or 2-3 families with up to 10 or 12 including children. Highly recommended.
We are really pleased you had such a good holiday and thank you for your positive review. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences.
Lovely authentic house that's very private
The pool area is fab and really quiet not fighting for sunbeds as the house has it's own,
The garden is very private and the house has everything you need.
Cortona and Sienna have do far been our favourite to visit but lots to do on the doorstep but you do need a car.
Cortona is an old Etruscan town and The MAEC museum has a wonderful and easy to see and understand display of these times. Our grandchildren enjoy the visits too.
Lake Trasemeno has watersports available. Plus ferry trips to the three islands, you can enjoy lunch on Majorie.
