This apartment is superbly positioned. Sat on a hill in the lovely village of Parghelia where the locals are friendly and helpful. Go boating, do the inflatables, banana's, ski, or ever fancied a jet ski, well now is your chance .. and all this is on your door step.
If your the adventurer, you are well positioned to go off exploring. The historic town of Pizzo is 25 minute drive away. It is the home of the famous 'Tartufo' , a must for all ice-cream lovers. There is a castle and museum, cathedral, tombs, the 'Piedigrotto' caves, San Franchesco Church, the marina and that's just Pizzo.
Vibo Valentia is for the archeologicalists, amazing what you can dig up !!!
A Norman castle perched on a hill, housing the Museo Archeologico Statale'Vito Capialbi'.
Just below, the libuary, worth a visit just for the view. The museum of art, 'Valentianum Museo di Arte Sacra. And one of my favorites, the cathedral, 'Duomo di Santa Maria Maggioge e San Leoluca. Best to do your home work before visiting, as there is not much information in English. Though there is a local information tourist board in every town. Check out the Airport tourist office and ask for any info in English they may have, you will be amazed.
Vibo also boasts the largest street market in Calabria held on a Saturday morning. Plus there are a lot of street shops, something to tempt all the family. The Vibo Commercial Center is only a 10 minute drive out of town. An evening visit to Vibo, you can try some of the best restaurants in Calabria. The back streets are full of them.
Vibo Valentia is a good place for hiking and trekking. You can enjoy the sea or the mountain paths, where you can explore and take photos of the unspoilt landscape. The 'Sentiero Frassati della Calabria' is one of the best Italian paths, where you can walk for at least 7 hours uninterrupted. Another stunning place for hiking and trekking is 'Lake Angitola', close to Maierota and is preserved by the WWF. Here you can watch grey herons, great crested grebe, swans and many other species.
Tropea is a must to visit. Hundreds of tourists would agree. In September Tropea hosts the 'Tropea Jazz Festival'
Capo Vaticano is another popular place to visit. Have a walk up to the light house, stop for tea at the 'Light house Cafe' and home produce shop, guarentee you don't leave empty handed. Then visit the beach. Golden sand and delightful restaurants.
Nicotera is a 30 minute drive, well worth visiting. It was an important Locrian colony whose name means the ''Victory Miracles''. It is situated on a panoramic point, close to the province of Reggio Calabria. During the XI century 'Roberto il Guiscardo' fortified the town and built a castle at the top of the town. Now, the castle is an archeological museum. The medival cathedral of the city is important because inside there is a 'Gagini's memorial statue. You can also appreciate the stone fountains and the astonishing sights of Gioia Tauro valley.
Reggio Calabria is only 2 hours away; Scisily 40 minutes and a ferry ride further.

Paradise with a view
Spacious well kept apartment in the Marasusa complex with magnificent views overlooking Tropea and the sea. An ideal location for a relaxing holiday with a lovely pool to cool off in and well kept gardens to enjoy The apartment has all you could want with a well equipped kitchen and large covered terrace to use the BBQ provided and enjoy watching the sun set over the sea. Tropea and surrounding area has some of the best white sand beaches I have seem. There are many restaurants to eat out. Antonio's in Pargaheli is the nearest, very nice and so friendly. Would recommend hiring a car.
Paradise in Marasusa.
Recommended by Friends, I decided
to book this Apartment in Marasusa, .The Apartment was in beautiful condition with all Mod cons and the most stunning views over the Marina and the Old Town of Tropea. The Gardens and Pool are first class combined with friendly Staff who will go out of their way to make your Vacation one to remember.
The food is excellent and a must visit is Antonio's Restaurant at the bottom of the lane in the Village of Parghilia, ( the best Pizza in Calabria ). We were more than pleased with our Apartment which was clean, light and airy with good Airconditioning and Sat TV.
Would highly recommend this beautiful Condominium. Mr Thomson U.K?
Thank for posting a review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed our beautiful Calabrian home.
Spectacular location - 5*+ Property dissapointing - DONT STAY THERE!
We spent 10 days at this property. The location and landscape is stunning! Well manicured and located on a mountaintop, this property has lime trees just outside the house; the area is lined with prickly pear trees and has the most breathtaking views of Tropea and the coast line. On several occasions, we even saw some beautiful horses grazing, and on a clear day, Sicily can be seen! This property is well maintained! This is where the experience stops! When we walked into the apartment, we were immediately disappointed (in tears, in fact) and seriously thought about leaving right then & there. There were many issues that should have been taken care of before our arrival. They were: The couch had an incredibly musty smell causing us to cough and sneeze! Luckily no one had to sleep on it. It should have been steam cleaned! Crumbling stucco on the walls, cobwebs in all corners. The broom available was totally worn out, so we had to buy a broom in order to clean up. The air conditioner in the kitchen was not working. Management had some one come out but nothing was resolved. Luckily we were out most of the days so we managed, but on days we were home, it was uncomfortable. The TV was not hooked up to any cable or satellite. Instructions next to the tv said that 4 channels were available on satellite, but we were not able to make it work. Being in such an isolated area, one would expect that at least a few channels for news and weather would be provided, or even a radio, when paying this kind of price. When we called management, they indeed confirmed that there was no service!
The bathroom toilet mechanism was broken. Management did get a repairman to fix it temporarily who indicated that the mechanism should be replaced and he was right because it only worked for a few flushes and then broke again. Luckily I'm mechanically inclined and got it to flush when needed! The toilet seat was completely broken off when we arrived. The repair man said it would be replaced the next day, but even after two calls, that never happened! The toaster wasn't working but management did get us a new one after a few days. The bed was ridiculous! Two twin beds pushed together to make a queen. That would have been no problem, as we do like our beds on the firm side, but these were like sleeping on rocks! This is not acceptable! We did voice our concerns to the owner but have not heard back from her! Beautiful location, property sorely lacking!
We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. This is the 1st complaint we have ever had and it is strange that after 9 weeks rental this year 4 things should go wrong when you arrived.
SOFA The sofa has removeable covers which are washed on a regular basis.
STUCCO. Flaking stucco happens all over the Med and a builder has already been booked to do repairs during the winter.
COBWEBS We have agents who clean between bookings. We have had no complaints and have always been happy with their service.
AIRCON. One of the air conditioning units did break down but after unsuccesfully trying to locate the part needed we decided to replace with a whole new unit. This will be ready for next season.
TV The TV was working but when our agents went in to clean the box was found broken on the floor.
TOILET. If you break a toilet seat you expect a replacement. This was supplied.
TOASTER. The original toaster was only 14 months old and was replaced with a new one.
BEDS The beds are hard but are standard for thr area. The vast majority of beds at Marasusa are identical to ours.
Once again we are sorry you were disappointed and would suggest that a 5 star hotel would be better suited to your expectations.
A little piece of heaven in the hills.
Well equipped accommodation and just a few steps to the pool and bar area, which has stunning views across to the sea. Great friendly staff who were more than accommodating to our every need. Would go back tomorrow!
Stunning place with beautiful pool & gardens. The apartment was great, really well equipped with stunning views of the sea from the terrace. We will be back!!!
Villagio Marasussa over looks Tropea Marina. Panoramic 360° views of sea and mountains. Pretty Parghelia is a small village with shops, supermarket, car rental, cafe/bars, restaurants and 'Shark Bay' beach, famous for it's water sports and excursions to the Eolie Islands.
Marasussa is easy to get to. If you fly, Lamezia Airport is 40 minutes drive away; by car you have good motorway systems and more scenic coastal roads. There is a train station in Parghelia with very realiable connections both north and south.
Marasussa is only a 10 minute drive to Tropea, a very popular tourist destination. Filled with fascinating little streets, ancient buildings and wrought iron balconies, gift shops, boutique. The Cathedral is well worth a look and next to it is the exhibition center. You can also visit the little island and it's suggestive 'S.Maria dell'Isola Church' that was an important Benedectine Monastery. The city is also well known all over the world for it's production of the sweet flavoured red Tropea onion. Parghelia also hosts the 'Tropea Onion' festival in September.
