About Kerstin Ever
We are a large, cosmopolitan family ranging in age from baby to senior citizen. We all meet up at the villa whenever possible, with family members arriving from Australia, the USA as well as more nearby UK and Sweden. My husband and myself have our main home in London and our family is a good mixture of Swedish, Estonian, Brazilian, English, American and Australian!
Kerstin Ever purchased this Villa in 2005
Why Kerstin Ever chose Pedra do Ouro
After having visited this area several times a year over a long period of time in business, we decided we definitely wanted to be a more permanent part of life here. We love the outdoors and the sea and it couldn't be better than this! Although a tiny village, the social life is hectic with lunches, dinners, festivals, outings to the most wonderful historic sites, wine yards to visit, you name it! The language is easy for me as I am fluent in Portuguese. Our other family members who are not have had no problem in communicating with the local population. The Portuguese are very helpful and friendly and will always have encouraging words to say to someone struggling with a dictionary. I have to mention the lovely fish and seafood and the gorgeous wines, still at very affordable prices.
What makes this Villa unique
It sits in a unique setting, with a splendid view of the Atlantic Ocean, totally uninterrupted. The sea is always changing and it is mesmerising looking at it, in calm and stormy weather. The large furnished terraces all around the villa, makes outdoor dining easy and comfortable any time, again with spectacular views. The spaciousness and layout of the villa makes it easy to accommodate 10 guests which must be a unique benefit! The villa has always worked marvellously for us and as the villa is in use most of the year, as there always seems to be someone visiting, we have made sure that it has everything that makes life easier. Such as excellent internet, cable TV, full functioning kitchen with all kinds of appliances, etc. We also hope you will like the interior decoration which is contemporary and classy. The outdoor unique benefits are of course the wide, long sandy beaches which go on for km after km and all the sporting facilities.

Fabulous Villa, wonderful view to sea and beautiful sunsets.
We enjoyed a two week family holiday in this fabulous and extremely well equipped and homely villa. All the bedrooms are very comfortable as is the living area. There are numerous outside areas to eat, the indoor bar was a real hit and also very well equipped. The pool area is spacious with plenty of sun beds as well as padded cushions for these. Lovely pool that was used daily by us all. We ate out a couple of times at the local restaurant - fresh fish available as you would expect for this area. Wouldn’t recommend the hotel restaurant as when we tried to book they weren’t very helpful or accommodating so we didn’t go there and went back to the local restaurant. All in all a brilliant holiday from start to finish.
Thank you for your kind words, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you back soon!
We hope you also found the lovely local restaurants in our neighbouring village and enjoyed our friendly and very laid back beach bar!
This is a great property for a holiday, peaceful, clean, tastefully furnished wonderfull views
We had a great holiday and would defiantly go back again. One of our party needs to use a wheelchair which worked well as there was a bedroom and bathroom on the main floor which made her stay easy and could easily move around.
Beautiful house, fantastic sea view.
We went in June (eight of us) and the weather was terrible, rain and cold. We couldn't really use the pool, except for a few brave souls. The weather improved later in the week, and we spent a lot of our time sitting in the sun gazing at the sea -- really beautiful.
The main thing about the house is the great view of the sea; a pretty much 180 degree unobstructed view. The house is up on a bluff, and there's no direct route down to the beach; it's maybe a ten-minute walk.
The house itself is fine; white tile and glass, attractive and solidly made. The bathrooms are large, and everything worked (including the heating when they turned it on). The kitchen was particularly well equipped. They seem to have tried hard to provide everything we might need. And I was impressed with how responsive they were to our requests.
A couple of little things needed fixing: one of the hammocks had so many snapped strings we were scared to use it (but the other hammock was fine); one of the sliding glass doors on to the balcony was coming apart (but they are getting it fixed); at least one of the bicycles needed servicing.
The house is on the edge of a development, which we didn't realize until we arrived; but that wasn't a problem. Yes, we'd happily go back, ideally with better weather.
Glad you enjoyed your stay despite the weather. The weather has been awful all through southern Europe and northern Africa for quite some time, not at all as it is usually. Wish I had had a magic wand.
The hammock has been changed, the sliding door is fixed. I guess there will always be something going a bit wrong in a big house, but we do try to fix it as soon as possible.
The bikes are a different story. They are serviced before the villa is let, but we seldom hear if they are faulty, although anything can happen, so thank you for letting us know, it will be fixed. We advertise 4 bikes but there are 5 in case one goes faulty :)
Vielen dank! How lovely that you got to see the dolphins swimming by, welcome back!
PERFECT FOR A FAMILY GROUP OR GROUP OF FRIENDS
We have just returned from a 2 week stay in this beautiful and large villa.
It was so spacious that you could stay together as a group or find an area to just relax, as there were many seating and dining areas.
We went as a family group as 5 adults and 5 children and the kids loved the pool and the downstairs area to keep out of the sun for a while with their I pads etc., but close enough so we could see the younger ones and still be sunbathing.
We had plenty of bathrooms so it was not a queue for the shower at the end of the day.
We loved the view just watching the waves rolling in and the sun setting in the evening.
There is some good restaurants and bars in walking distance. We loved the little shop with a café attached and me and my husband used to have a coffee and pastel de nata for our morning treat.
Very easy to get to Lisbon or Porto for a day or overnight visit and other smaller places are very nearby and well worth a visit.
I have never been in such a well equipped villa, you can tell it is a family home and not just a holiday let.
My daughter loved the piano and kept us entertained too!
Thank you very much for your kind words, we loved having you as our guests and welcome back!
A week in a very nice house....
we stayed in this lovely place for a whole week, and we really were surprised, how spacious it was. 6 comfortable bedrooms with warm enough douvets made us all sleep really well.
the necessary "small stuff", that other houses did not supply we found ready to use: candles, toiletpaper, cleenex, coffee capsules to survive the first morning, spices, lots of glasses, dishes and even a plastic version to take poolside.
10 loungers with cushions also were available.
the sunbrellas maybe were not in such a good condition, and I do not know, how 10 people can find shadow poolside, when it is really hot.
But everything else was perfect.
the pool had not only a good size but also a good temperature.
from the frontside, we had a beautiful view on the atlantic, that could be reached after a short walk or drive.
the houses around were all not in use, and although it was the last week of june, no other tourists were around. we did not understand why.
all in all it was a lovely place, that we can surely recommend.
Thank you very much for your kind review and we are glad you enjoyed your stay and the house! We strive to ensure that our guests have the best possible time and as comfortable as possible.
We are checking that the umbrellas are functioning properly. There are two large sun umbrellas for the pool and terrace areas and there are also 3 smaller that can be taken to the beach. The covered terraces should also provide shade if necessary be.
The beach in Pedra do Ouro is right in front of our house with fishermans trails running down to the sandy beach. The main route to the beach is approximately 400 meters, 7 minutes walk, or a minute car ride. There is a genuine family run bar and restaurant, serving light meals, on the beach as well as beach volley, changing and other facilities. There is a local pub and a couple of good restaurants just around the corner from the villa as well as a convenience store. Pedra do Ouro is linked by cycling/roller-blading, by car or by walking along specially built pedestrain walkways with neighbouring Sao Pedro de Moel 4km north and Paredes 3km south. Alternatively, the wide sandy beach connects the villages and also makes a lovely walk! Here are a number of excellent seafood restaurants, bars, minimarkets, pharmacy ATM and very popular surf schools. A lilltle further away you have, Nazare, Marinha Grande and Leiria the regions capital, with fresh food markets, large supermarkets, restaurants, bars and vast varied shopping on offer. The Silver Coast is rich in archeologi from pre-historic caves to Moorish castles and Roman villages, offering a spectacular choice of sight-seeing. Portugal has 13 locations classified by UNESCO as World Heritage sites, several in this area. Among others - Tomar, Convent of Christ founded in 1163, the Monastery of Alcobaca, the beautiful cathedral in Batalha and the walled medieval town of Obidos. Natur plays a big roll in this area, with its protected pine forrests, and of course it's spectacular wide sandy beaches that just go on for miles and miles.
