Stunning 2 bedroom barn conversion on Kinder Scout in the Peak District

Bedrooms 2
Space 753 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 4 nights

About the property

Double bedroom en-suite plus small bedroom and separate wet room bathroom

The Sheep Shack is a former farm stable building sympathetically converted to provide luxurious accommodation with contemporary style and flare. The property combines modern sustainable technologies such as ground source underfloor heating and high levels of insulation with traditional English oak fitting throughout. The main bedroom has en-suite facilities whilst there is the further luxury of a separate wet room bathroom. A stylish contemporary wood burning stove creates extra warmth in the main living area. The Shack is ideal for a romantic break but there is also a small bedroom with bunk beds suitable for children. Visitors can enjoy peace and privacy whilst still being within easy reach of Hayfield village. The Sheep Shack is situated within the Peak Park itself rather than in the village and is ideal for walking, trail or fell running and mountain biking. Many walks are accessible from right outside the front door. Amble down the lane to the local pub or just kick back in front of the fire and relax.

We can arrange mountain bike hire, fell running and hiking routes if needed.

Why Michael Whyatt chose High Peak District

I grew up in this area and bought the farm many years ago. It was a sheep farm run by Harold and Dorothy, brother and sister whose family moved there in the 1920s. They retired and the surrounding land is now farmed by the National Trust. The Sheep Shack was created in 2010 and the farmhouse was restored in 2013.

What makes this cottage unique

Definitely some of the best views in the Peak District but not too far away from the village.

A perfect break in a lovely location

  • 5 of 5

An absolutely lovely space to spend a few days away from it all. A beautifully renovated property containing everything we needed and more than enough information provided including maps of the surrounding area which were useful for a long walk out to Kinder Scout. The wood burning stove was perfect in the evening and the kitchen was well equipped for our needs. Michael provided us with all the information we needed prior to arrival and our stay went off without a hitch. Would thoroughly recommend.

Swiftly becoming my bolt hole !

  • 5 of 5

Just love the place. Love nothing more than locking the door, getting a fire going, and being able to have the rest of the world just bugger off for a couple of days. No phone, no internet, no email, no traffic .... lovely !!

You can always pop down to The Lamb or Sportsman if you're desperate for a human voice and don't want to cook.

Can't think of a better place ..... love it.

A Place to relax

  • 4 of 5

Gerne wieder mal.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the lovely review. We don't have Internet at The Sheep Shack owing to the distance from the exchange. There is reasonable 3G access on the Three network and we have mobile wifi available if required. Hopefully they will upgrade the line soon in which case we will add a fast connection. Michael

Superb place, true to description, you feel in a cocoon in the heat of the stove, with a cricket match we commented at the village pub over a pint and the surrounding countryside that invites ballads, was a idea to come back for a longer stay.
