For those who just wish to unwind the peace and tranquillity of the location is ideal. You can just sit and relax by the pool or in the shade of the gardens, take a stroll around the grounds or indulge in a spot of fishing in our well stocked lake. From the terraced area beside the salt water pool, situated at the rear of the property, there is nothing to disturb you in the surrounding fields but the local wildlife. If you want to take relaxation to the next level then a visit by a trained holistic therapist can be arranged.
If you wish to indulge your cultural passions, the historic city of Bergerac is only a short drive away. Here you can stroll through the old town, enjoy a coffee by the river or even take a leisurely boat trip up the Dordogne. Alternatively, why not visit one (or more) of the pretty villages and Bastide towns that populate this area, such as the town featured in the ITV show 'Little England', Eymet. You will discover beautiful buildings and the local markets, where you can enjoy the authentic French Experience or even just purchase some local produce.
Further to the east in the Dordogne valley there are many areas of historical and geological interest including cave dwellings, magnificent underground caverns and medieval homesteads. These are well worth a visit and the beautiful, at times staggering, countryside through which you pass will only add to the adventure.
The more energetic in your group can indulge in activities such as canoeing and aerial parks (where you or your children can swing through the trees) which make for a great family day out. Alternatively you can cycle or walk through surrounding fields and vineyards.
In a region also famed for its food and wine there are many places to sample local cuisine, including a local favourite, Famille Moutier's Restaurant, which is only a 10 minute walk away. The numerous surrounding vineyards offer the chance to taste their wine, see how it is produced and purchase it direct from the Chateau. The local restaurants and bars provide an interesting and unique insight into the local culture. The night markets allow you to choose from a wide array of local dishes and wines to eat and drink al fresco while soaking up the atmosphere. These are especially enjoyable since during the summer months there is normally entertainment laid on at the same time.
If you have very small children cots and high chairs can be made available on request.
