For those who just wish to unwind the peace and tranquillity of the location is ideal. You can just sit and relax by the pool or in the shade of the gardens, take a stroll around the grounds or indulge in a spot of fishing in our well stocked lake. From the terraced area beside the salt water pool, situated at the rear of the property, there is nothing to disturb you in the surrounding fields but the local wildlife. If you want to take relaxation to the next level then a visit by a trained holistic therapist can be arranged.
If you wish to indulge your cultural passions, the historic city of Bergerac is only a short drive away. Here you can stroll through the old town, enjoy a coffee by the river or even take a leisurely boat trip up the Dordogne. Alternatively, why not visit one (or more) of the pretty villages and Bastide towns that populate this area, such as the town featured in the ITV show 'Little England', Eymet. You will discover beautiful buildings and the local markets, where you can enjoy the authentic French Experience or even just purchase some local produce.
Further to the east in the Dordogne valley there are many areas of historical and geological interest including cave dwellings, magnificent underground caverns and medieval homesteads. These are well worth a visit and the beautiful, at times staggering, countryside through which you pass will only add to the adventure.
The more energetic in your group can indulge in activities such as canoeing and aerial parks (where you or your children can swing through the trees) which make for a great family day out. Alternatively you can cycle or walk through surrounding fields and vineyards.
In a region also famed for its food and wine there are many places to sample local cuisine, including a local favourite, Famille Moutier's Restaurant, which is only a 10 minute walk away. The numerous surrounding vineyards offer the chance to taste their wine, see how it is produced and purchase it direct from the Chateau. The local restaurants and bars provide an interesting and unique insight into the local culture. The night markets allow you to choose from a wide array of local dishes and wines to eat and drink al fresco while soaking up the atmosphere. These are especially enjoyable since during the summer months there is normally entertainment laid on at the same time.
If you have very small children cots and high chairs can be made available on request.
Gite Les Clefs can easily accommodate 8 people having 1 double and 3 twin bedded bedrooms and two bathrooms , one with bath and shower, the second a seperate shower.
A large entrance hall doubles up as a dining area, which leads on to a lounge and well equipped kitchen, where you will find a cooker with hob, a microwave dishwasher and a fridge freezer, as well as a good supply of cutlery, crockery and kitchenware. and a selection of books and games is provided for those odd inclement days.

The property was clean and the owners are friendly approachable people and can help you discover the area with their local knowledge. We would love to visit again and feel that we got a real taste of french living.
We spent a lovely relaxing week at Les Clefs. The gardens are amazing and the trampoline (with a little help from our hosts lovely children) kept the children occupied for hours! The property had everything we needed and we ate every meal in the lovely outdoor seating area. The area is so lovely and quiet and we really enjoyed our days out to Duras market, to Accrozarbres (ropes course) and to a local castle with medieval games! It was a great holiday and we're really keen to come back. Maybe in the summer holidays? Would definitely recommend this place!
We had a fantastic week-long stay in August. This was our first visit to the area, and we loved the beautiful countryside in which the gite is situated, with vineyards and sunflower fields as far as the eye can see. The tranquility makes Les Clefs a very special place to unwind. Not far away is the fascinating town of Bergerac, which is well worth exploring. Local markets are easily accessible, and make for an interesting visit, and a fabulous atmosphere, particularly if you go to those held in the evenings. With a swimming pool, fishing lake, table tennis and barbecues, set within the extensive grounds, as well as the company of the owners' delightful children, our kids loved their stay. We could not have asked for more in terms of the warm welcome we received, which made for a relaxing and memorable holiday in this lovely part of the Dordogne.
We had a lovely Easter break, the property was well presented and equipped. A warm welcome was received from the owners and we felt at home from day one. We had a lovely bike ride, the roads are very quiet, showing us the local countryside. There are lots of vinyards in the area where wine tasting is encouraged. With an excellent restaurant within walking distance, there are lots of markets to browse around in the surrounding villages. The Chateau in Duras is well worth a visit. Thoroughly recommended.
A lovely property in a tranquil and beautiful part of the Dordogne. A well equipped gite with four large bedrooms and ample space to relax and eat together. The beds in our room were very comfortable and we slept very well. As it was a bit chilly weather-wise we were grateful for the wood burner and efficient heaters in the rooms.
Set down a long track the owners house is on site and they were very helpful in helping us find things to do and providing maps, as we were a group of 7 with 3 of those children. We hired the bicycles and explored the very quiet roads, visited the local town of Duras and the chateau there and Bergerac market which is set around the large church in the town centre. Lots of things to do and places to see so will be going back to discover those as our break was only 4 days.
Visitors must try the Familie Moutiers restaurant which is a short walk away - although the menu is set (apart from the main course and pudding - 7 courses!) the food was exceptional and each course is served with a different wine to complement it. Although too cold to swim, we could imagine relaxing by the pool with the children having fun when the weather was warmer in the summer.
A thoroughly relaxing stay - we'll definitely be returning!
Thank you to our lovely hosts John and Jill.
