We loved our time here! Lake Chemung has some awesome fishing. The yard is beautiful complete with a fire pit and several chairs. The master bedroom has a great view of the lake from its floor to ceiling wall to wall Windows. The only thing we noticed that was a slight disappointment was the traffic noise from nearby highways. Certainly not the owners fault, but something to be aware of if you are wanting to only hear the sounds of nature. However, having the property so close to "civilization" has its perks too! Howell is fun to peruse the shops and Brighton has one of the best Italian restaurants that we've ever dined: Chao Amici.
Overall well equipped house with plenty of towels and good hot water supply. The lake was clean and almost like bath water. We had two boats tied to the dock where the water is sandy and shallow. Plenty of room for our two kayaks and blow up floats. Parking can be a challenge when having guests but Diane is very gracious by offering parking at the Chemung market. The market was close and convenient to pick up ice and other supplies. There is a Meijers grocery not too far for your major grocery runs. The kitchen is brand new with new appliances too. It just needs a couple more items to have it fully equipped (such as a cookie sheet, 9x13 baking pan, Tupperware). Also if you're used to a softer mattress you should bring a foam topper as the bed's are very firm. The entire home has beautiful wood floors but could use more rugs at the doors to wipe of wet bare feet.
We had a couple of babies visit and was surprised to find a crib and high chair to use. Also a supply of games and even Legos were available.
We will definetly be back again as it was so close to our family and friends who live near by. The only thing I would have changed about our trip was to have had a little warmer weather!

We loved it here! Communication is important to me and the owners always were available for anything. The kitchen is awesome and the large yard perfect for playing games all day. Loved the home. Great time.
We had several family groups in and out during our week at the "Sleepy Hollow" cottage. I was there the entire week, but depending on the day we had as few as two of us and as many as 8, including teenagers. We also brought my dog. We all had a wonderful week! Diana has everything provided. We brought some bedding based on other rentals we have had but we didn't need it. She even has beach towels for your use. The kitchen and downstairs bath are completely new and redone. There are lots of things provided in the kitchen including roasting skewers and a coffee pot. There were a couple of hot days and the AC worked great. We used the fire pit several nights, buying firewood at the Lake Chemung market. 5 or 6 chairs are provided for the backyard so don't feel you need to bring a bunch of chairs. We also used the grill provided. The sunsets here are absolutely beautiful! We were there over the week of summer solstice so it was light pretty late. We had the master bedroom which has a HUGE window to look out at the lake! The only thing we wished we had was a boat. The local marina does not rent them and on the weekend days it was a busy boating lake. But during the week it was pretty calm. We brought a couple of big floats ($20 on amazon) we tied to the dock (and btw, even at the end of the dock the water is only thigh high on an adult; the drop-off is way past that point). If you do have a boat there is a public access area across the lake where you can put it in, and the dock is plenty long enough. There is also a sandy shore area for little ones.
To make a long story short, Diana takes great care of you if you rent this cottage and we highly recommend it!
If you are a boating/skier/boarding person this is your lake. We enjoyed campfires and lovely sunsets. Cottage is large and very nice.
If you are a fisherman this is a tough lake as it is very clear and very busy. Early morning is your only chance. We enjoyed our week there.😎🇺🇸
This was our second stay at sleepy hollow and we're already trying to plan a date next year. Diana and Jeff are excellent renters always making sure your stay is perfect. The cottage is clean and well equipped. The lot is large and situated so that there is privacy. The water is shallow for quite ways out for kids which is nice. A few rocks in the water, so I'd recommend water shoes for kids even though I didn't use any. Close to tons of stores and food, but still has that up north feel. Highly recommended
