A turquoise ocean view follows you throughout the entire house. Here beside the blue Pacific is a place where you can barbecue, relax, and enjoy the cool trade winds and the fine tropical sunsets sinking into the sea. No filters needed on your camera. The colors are on this site are not filtered.
When looking @ other properties, is the beach in front of their property true? Most are rocky and hardly any sand. Our pictures are TRUE. This is the beach IN FRONT of our home!

About Steve Sedgwick
My wife and I fell in love with Kauai over 20+ years ago. We loved it so much we decided to build a house and rent it out so others could enjoy the beauty as well. We currently own two houses in Kauai. One on the North Shore, Oceanfront (Haena - near Tunnels Beach) and the other on the South, Oceanfront (Poipu - Brennecke's Beach). Our children loved both sides of the islands, so that is why we have one on the North and one on the South. It's funny, but the North and the South side are very different and hopefully you can enjoy both. My wife and I go back to the houses on a regular basis to always check and maintain the houses. My children are grown up, but still enjoy coming back. When you book either properties, I'm always available to answer questions via email or phone, before and during your trip. We love Kauai and would like you to experience the beautiful island of Kauai too.

Why Steve Sedgwick chose Haena
We picked this property because of the beautiful sandy beach in front of the house. The colors on the website, are the actual colors of the ocean, no filters. My wife isn't the best swimmer, but doesn't get scared because she can see fish and not go far out. She now goes far because the reef keeps her protected and she knows no sharks can get her because of he protection of the reef. Our friends fell in love with the property. They thought the house was a bonus. They just fell in love with the beach and the area. They loved seeing the endless stars in the sky. We love this house and have so many family memories, watching our children enjoy the property from being so little (3 and 5) to now. They are off in college, but anytime they can come, they are there. I hope you and your family can make memories like ours and experience the splendor of this property and the Island of Kauai.
What makes this House unique
The beach is unique because it doesn't have a beach access right next to it. So, the beach seems private and all yours. Other homes near us have rocks and hardly any sand and can't swim without having to walk to a clear path where it's sandy. The coral reef in front of the house is like a horse shoe, which gives you swimming year round. You don't have to go far out in the ocean to see all types of marine life. Don't be surprised if a turtle passes you by. The endangered Hawaiian Monk seal will sometimes sunbathe and relax by the house in the sand. Remember, they are endangered, so please give them their space. We have seen the whales in migration and have the privilege of seeing one of them breach. It was spectacular. Night time we can see the twinkling lights of Hanalei Bay and thousands of stars.

Wonderful Spot in Gorgeous Kauai
What an incredible home with a spectacular view of the Pacific and the mountains of Kauai. It was a dream come true.
weather struggles bur great view
SO Let me preface by saying that we had horrible weather which will affect my review of the house.
On a calm Hawaiian day it would be great. For us we were right on the edge against the ocean and the winds were high and there was no protection. The other negative was that there was no Covered lanai which would have positively affected our experience. If we could have sat outside and watched the rain it would have felt very different.
On the positive side, we got our exercise by walking to Tunnels beach (about 30 minutes tough beach walk and we are in good shape...) where the weather was calm on the beach.
The location is quite remarkable in that you have incredible ocean side views. The beach is just below the windows and there is a great reef in the water so it is a nice swimming area.
the drive into town is slow but pleasant and over all the house is nice and represented well by the other reviews.
There is a screen missing in the large bathroom and living room and the misquotes come in. There were no wine glasses which was VERY disappointing for us as we were celebrating our 30 Anniversary and had purchased some great bottles of wine and champagne. There was no bike which would have been great. There was no umbrella, just a large canopy which would have been fine if the weather was not nuking wind. Too heavy to carry to the beaches.
The furniture is not what is in the pictures and there was a chair that was all torn apart and I had to cover it with a blanket. The dining table had only four chairs and the outside chairs were fold up so not too nice. There was NO lounge chair on the desk which is a must in my opinion.
I think a house that rents there should have Tommy bahama chairs for use. Most houses I spoke to did. They are a must renting here because if there is wind you need to go to Tunnels beach.
Another negative was the refrigerator leaks and I was suppose to remember to change the little cup everyday. Annoying.... Of course i forgot and my food got all wet. I think there are a few things that should be updated even if it is on the market.
There were lots of towels and the W/D worked fine. The master is nice with tons of space and had everything we needed.
There are two other bedrooms that seemed nice enough.
Steve was very nice and accommodating and I do believe that my experience would have focused less on the bad if the weather had been normal and we weren't inside watching the rain pour...
Thank you for your comments and agree 3 weeks dealing with the 100 year rain in March 2018 was a bummer. We don't usually see this happen.
The weather seems to be effected across the United States this year for March as we have now seen a record of 4 Nor 'easter hit the east coast in March alone with record snow fall, snow falling in Las Vegas and virtually no rain in Southern California all winter long except for the month long rain received in March. The spring of 2018
is certainly an anomaly across the US and likely across the globe.
I would have to agree with you the views from the house are spectacular and the house is advertised correctly. The white sand beach looks like powder. We are replacing the worn chair referenced and a new refrigerator is being delivered next week!
As far as beach accessories we do offer a service that rents bikes, umbrella, beach chairs, surf boards, paddle boards and snorkel gear.
The simple reason that we don't advertise this as included is that the high density of salt in the air destroys anything metal within 60 days and would be replacing such items on a regular basis which would require us to increase the cost of the nightly rate. Often times these are left by previous guest which we constantly have to throw away because of the rust that happens quicker than you can blink an eye.
Thank you again for your comments!!
Location so stunning it can take your breath away!
Location of this home is beyond spectacular. The house itself is clean and comfortable. Very spacious with wonderful large bathrooms. We all slept like babies in the very comfy beds. The ocean is literally your front yard, so be prepared to be dazzled. We loved our stay and would love to come back! The most beautiful place we have ever been. Everything the owner (Steve) said is completely accurate. You won't want to leave this little piece of heaven!
Best vacation home I have stayed at in years
We were excited as soon as we reached the road leading to the property which was even great!
Beautiful, private, beachfront home leaves little reason to have to get in a car and drive anywhere. Location was better than expected. Inside the home the layout was open, very clean and ocean views that were so perfectly amazing! The beach right in front of the home had a few rocks to step around but great beach, which was another
pleasant surprise. Snorkeling good there too! There were only a few
people walking past the entire time we were there. We bought groceries and really had no reason to leave the property based on location, though we did take one day to check out the rest of the island. Steve was completely responsive when the last tenant forgot to leave the trash can out for pick up and was a real pleasure to deal with, very personable and easy to reach by phone.
We will want to visit this house again and would advise others to plan their trips during availability of this home. You will not be disappointed!
I would give more stars if they were available.
Wonderful house in a oceanfront location.
Our family had a great time at this house. The lanai, the living room, dining room, master bedroom and even master bathroom have spectacular views of the beach and ocean. We prepared several dinners in the well-equipped kitchen. The house is right on Kepuhi Beach, which is a beautiful beach that is nearly deserted. We found great snorkeling with plentiful fish and live corral more beautiful than at Tunnels just a few hundred yards to the left of the house. Tunnels Beach is known for world-class snorkeling and diving and is better overall, but it is only a short drive or 20 minute walk. (Hint: walking the entire way along the beach can get tiring, so we recommend taking the side road to the YMCA and then cutting over to the beach for the rest of the walk to Tunnels.)
The house is well-maintained and the bathrooms in all three bedrooms feature huge, luxurious showers. The combination of ceiling fans and cool breezes meant that we never felt hot in the house. We appreciated the boogie boards, snorkel gear, beach mats, children's beach toys, and other gear available for use.
Wonderful Haena Home!
Spent a wonderful four nights at this lovely Haena home, and can’t recommend it highly enough! My husband and I were there in celebration of our son’s high school graduation with him and three other teenagers, and there was plenty of space and privacy for all of us. We hardly even wanted to leave the house, as it was such a special place, but when we did, it was an easy drive to Hanalei shops and restaurants, and also a quick and easy drive to beautiful Ke’e Beach and other great snorkeling spots on Kauai’s north shore.
All the amenities at the home were great: We enjoyed cooking in the clean, spacious kitchen area, and then dining both indoors and outside with spectacular, panoramic ocean views. We loved the bathrooms, which were very large and spotlessly clean upon our arrival, and the Jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom was wonderful. The bedrooms were quiet, cool and comfortable, as there are continual ocean breezes cooling everything down at this home. The teens enjoyed the giant TV and great wifi at the house in the evenings. And of course, we loved walking on the beautiful beach right in front of the house, and seeing the sunrise each morning from the expansive oceanfront deck of the home. And yes, we were fortunate enough to experience seeing an endangered monk seal resting on the beach right in front of the house; amazing!
And finally, we didn’t have a single problem while staying at this home, but I know that if we had, it would have been taken care of immediately, because the booking process had been so effortless and pleasant in the months prior to our trip. We were provided all the information we needed to know ahead of time, and found everything exactly as anticipated.
Thanks so much for sharing this special place with us. It was the perfect spot for our Kauai vacation!
