Located at the heart of the historical district of Saumur ''Le Logis'', charming renovated house with character, inviting you to discover the gentle pleasures of life in Anjou.

A few steps away from the pedestrian streets, you can roam and discover the castle overlooking the city, sitting on a terrace enjoying a famous gastronomy.

You will enjoy the tranquillity of the dwelling as well as its comfort, decoration and of course its patio.

Character house of the 16th century, built with traditional stones (freestone). ''Le Logis'' has a ground floor and

After crossing the patio, where you can relax, you can reach the ground floor through an entry leading through to the the living room. The dining room and the kitchen where the oak beams and the stone chimney has preserved the place authenticity.

Very bright, this large room is furnished with taste and antique furnitures emphasise its architecture.

The turret has a wonderful spiral staircase in freestone, on each floor.

You will also enjoy the very beautiful frame of this typical Val de Loire staircase.

The first and second floors are reserved for the 3 bedrooms, spacious, very bright and furnished

with all comforts and a good taste furniture.

Each bedroom has a bathroom or a tiled shower with zelliges, luxurious and separated.

Giving privacy to the guests. Separate WC on the floors.

Please note especially on the second floor bedroom the very beautiful original oak frame called nave of boat, very characteristic of the buildings of this period.

Amazing accomodation in the heart of Saumur

  • 5 of 5

Stay here and feel like you are stepping back in time. The winding stone staircase, gorgeous rafters in the top floor bedroom and lovely courtyard give this place a timeless appeal. We were two couples traveling together and found this place to be perfect accomodations. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, the living room area provided comfortable seating to unwind after a day of sightseeing and enjoy some of the wonderful local wines. The kitchen was small but modern and well equipped. We were able to cook and set a beautiful table with all of the serving pieces Elizabeth keeps stocked. The parking area was a short walk away and very secure.

Saumur makes a good base for exploring the Loire valley and has several great restaurants within a very short walk of this property. We especially enjoyed Auberge saint Pierre and Les Menestrels. There is also a nice Saturday market with locally grown mushrooms and cheeses among other delicious items. The property is an easy drive to many of the valley's beautiful chateaus and Fontevraud Abbey.

We want to thank Elizabeth for being very welcoming and making us feel like we were at home. We would certainly love to stay here again, especially in warmer weather to enjoy the lovely courtyard.

Luxury accommodations in the heart of Old Saumur

  • 5 of 5

Our home for a week, this beautiful townhouse exceeded our expectations, which were already high. This is truly luxury accommodation. The charming Madame MAURET’s attention to detail shows in every one of the rooms of this 3-storey townhouse. Tasteful decor, well-equipped kitchen, well-appointed bedrooms with excellent linens, and bathrooms of the highest quality.

The spiral stone staircase in this home was a first for us, although we’ve rented quite a number of houses in France over the years.

It was a splendid experience and we can’t recommend it highly enough. The location is perfect, right in the heart of old Saumur. Several good restaurants within a 5 minute walk, or even less such as Le Grand Bleu, a seafood restaurant at which we ate twice. The moules were outstanding, as was the sole meuniere.

The issue won’t be where to find croissants in the morning, but which of the boulangeries you like the best. All of them are within walking distance of the townhouse.

The courtyard-in-the-heart-of-the-city is an added bonus. Although the late October weather was too cool for eating in the courtyard, it would be a fabulous setting for a dinner under the stars at the table in the centre of the courtyard.

Merci Madame MAURET.

Fantastic accommodation in the centre of Saumur

  • 5 of 5

We had an excellent week staying is this accommodation which possessed both all the modern amenities you would want in a property also full of medieval character.

Ideally located to enjoy Saumur on foot and also within easy distance of many of the best sites and attractions that the Loire has to offer. Secure car parking also gave peace of mind.

The owner, Elisabeth, could not have been more helpful.

A top class property we would thoroughly recommend.

Perfect home in Saumur

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed here for three nights the first week of October. The owner was a delight. She met us on our arrival and made sure we had what we needed. The house is wonderfully appointed -- new bathroom fixtures and nice kitchen. It's also perfectly located just a few blocks from the heart of town and fabulous restaurants. Merci beaucoup, Elisabeth!

A beautiful home on the Loire River

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful castle on the Loire River. We had a 2 week stay in this lovely home in May and June. It was like living in a castle with its winding stone staircase, dark wood beamed ceilings in every room, stone walls and private courtyard. Wait until you see the view when you open your eyes in bed in the third floor bedroom. You don't have to move at all. Just open your eyes. Yet we had all the modern conveniences such as a large, flat screen TV, a great sound system, an induction stove, beautiful lighting, and up-to-date plumbing and fixtures in all the bathrooms and kitchen as well as a very clean washer and separate dryer that worked through condensation as opposed to a vent. Everything was also immaculately clean. The pictures are exactly what you will see when you stay in this home. The owner was a wonderful person to rent from. She was very prompt in replying to our emails and she was so kind and helpful but never intrusive. She even went out of her way to take the time to show us the best Carrefour supermarket on Mother's Day. The city of Saumur has many winding cobbled streets to explore, a beautiful castle and a fantastic open market on Saturday mornings in Place St. Pierre, just around the corner from the home. My husband found La Tarterie, the bakery and pastry shop also in Place St Pierre, to have the best baguette traditionelle and the croissants he rated as a 10 and he loves his bread and croissants which he is really fussy about. Saumur is also near Fontevraud Abbey, many castles on the Loire and Clos Luce, Leonardo da Vinci's home for the last 3 years of his life in Amboise, 1 1/2 hours east of Saumur, near Chenenceux castle. For those of you interested in machines, this museum is not only a chance to visit his house, but you will also see 40 actual models that IBM built from the sketches made in the 1500's that were discovered here. It was very interesting to see the genius of this famous person. Finally, I highly recommend this wonderful home in a fantastic area to visit in France. Hopefully we will return soon. Thank you for your hospitality, to the very kind owner.
