The property was clean, in a good area for the beach and public transport. The host was very welcoming, easy to contact and helpful about things to do in Mondello.
Cool hide away
Were big fans of Sicily now. Gianni owns this property and has a 4x4 and scuba diving adventure company too :-) Francesco acts on his behalf, and both were great to deal with, and also Federica greeted us when we arrived as her English is very good. So the Villa is very cool, and just like in the pictures, immaculate and clean with great Wifi and space to work. It is on a busy road corner though and can be noisy so bring a portable speaker and maybe some earplugs if you like to sleep in! Some of the local restaurants and shops in this area are fantasic and have great reviews, better than in the centre of Mondello by the beach. Also decent supermarket very near...
Assolutamente consigliato!

Casa Le Pigne Turchesi is located only 1300 meters from the beautiful beach of Mondello, the famous tourist village of Palermo.
This famous seaside village is about 10 km from the historic center of Palermo and it occupies an area that extends like an arch, along a magnificent bay, between the Natural Reserve of Monte Pellegrino and the Natural Reserve of Capo Gallo. The original nucleus is Mondello, located at the Northern part of the bay, an ancient fishing village built around an ancient tuna fishery. In the last decade, Mondello has developed has increased the tourist offer with excellent services, lots of restaurants, shops and entertainment. The climate, cool in summer and warm in winter, the Caribbean sea with its luxuriant vegetation, the fine and white beach, make Mondello a dream place for your holidays! In addition, the village enjoys an excellent location because it is 10 minutes driving from the center of Palermo and 5 minutes from the highway entrance; this will allow you to enjoy a sea and cultural holiday at the same time!
Nature reserves of Capo Gallo and Monte Pellegrino
The Capo Gallo Nature Reserve can be reached on foot through a coastal path that is located in the Western part of the country. Monte Gallo is a promontory overlooking the sea surmounted by a white tower called 'Semaforo'. The reserve is full of caves, the most famous is the 'Grotta dell'Olio', a very suggestive cavern on the sea with an incredibly clear and bright water. When the sandy bottom is illuminated by the sun rays filtering through the rock, it takes an enchanting golden color that gives its name to the cave itself. This natural reserve has a varied flora and fauna: here you can see the Scara of Gasparrini, wild orchids, the Sicilian Sparrowhawk and numerous animals such as foxes, wild rabbits, peregrine falcons, real sea birds.
The Natural Reserve of Monte Pellegrino includes the entire mountain with the same name and the royal estate of the Favorita, as well as the sanctuary of Santa Rosalia, with its church carved into the rock, which is an important pilgrimage site for the devotees of the Saint. Goethe described it as 'the most beautiful promontory in the world'.
Palermo is the tourist and cultural capital of Sicily. The old part of the city is full of ancient churches of great artistic and historical value. Some of the most interesting are: the Church of the Martorana with its beautiful mosaics; the Church of Santa Maria dello Spasimo, place of musical and cultural events; the Palatine Chapel located on the ground floor of the Palazzo dei Normanni (Royal Palace), the baroque church of Sant'Ignazio all'Olivella; the Church of the Magione and many others. Besides the churches it can't be missed the Chinese Palazzina, an oriental building surrounded by an elegant garden that reaches the foot of Monte Pellegrino. There is also an hidden Palermo, with its undergrounds rich in architectural works such as the places of Beati Paoli and the excellence of the underground natural hydraulic system called Qanat.
