About Sarah and Marc
We live in Wisconsin in a log home that we built before the cabin. We love living in the Midwest and enjoy the many activities the different seasons bring. Marc grew up in Canada and Sarah in Wisconsin. We recently adopted a beautiful boy born in April of 2018 and currently have a dog and 2 cats. Besides log building we enjoy gardening, making maple syrup, cutting wood, wood projects, hiking, camping, Alaska fishing, many outdoor activities and occasional traveling.
Why Sarah and Marc chose Silver Bay
We have always enjoyed traveling the the North Shore for vacations. We decided to take on the adventure of log building in 2009. We took a 10 day course in Isabella, MN and proceeded to build our log house. In 2012 we were introduced to the cabin property by a friend. It is such a beautiful spot so we decided to finally own a piece of the area. In 2013 we started building this cabin on our weekends through a very cold winter. We had the logs delivered to our home property. There, we peeled them and built the walls and roof. We had the cabin disassembled and reassembled at the cabin site in september of 2014. With some help from others, we finished it in 2016. We hope you enjoy this cabin and area as much as we have over the years.
What makes this Cabin unique
We love the logs with their individual character. The cabin is cozy and peaceful and a great central location for accessing all the North Shore has to offer. We enjoy the deck with its view of the surrounding scenery, the sound of Illgen Falls, and proximity to so many outdoor activities.

Once in a lifetime view!
Our stay at the cabin was marvelous! There truly are no words to express the beauty of the view. We had fires each night down below at the fire pit for happy hour. This is the place to stay if you’re coming up north.
Wonderful log cabin, fabulous location!
We so enjoyed our stay at the cabin. What a special place, learning it was built by the owners left us awestruck. We loved the space that was both cozy and spacious. Mornings sipping coffee on the deck overlooking Lake Superior. Afternoons exploring state parks and waterfalls on the North Shore made for a perfect week!!
Best VRBO rental we’ve had. Thank you for creating such a special cabin. We both love working with wood, so truly appreciate the craft and workmanship that you both have. It’s a work of art!
Your hospitality is also great with all the necessities and amenities we could want!
What a treasure!
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed it!

One of a kind cabin with a matching view
Or stay at the cabin was wonderful. The trip was bound to be a great one with what the area has to offer, but the cabin was the icing on the cake. We spent a long time admiring the detail and craftsmanship this couple put into building this cabin. We hope to return again!
