Why Lee Roversi chose Kilauea
If you are looking for an alternative to the resort scene and desire to stay where real people live on Kauai, this is for you. If you wish to support an eco-conscious family business, this is for you. If you like organic produce, this is for you. The north shore of Kauai is a stunning oasis and North Country Farms its own precious piece of that.

This farm was really a cool place to stay. The cabin was charming and secluded, and the outdoor shower was just the best. You are surrounded by vegetation, flowers and bird sounds. We loved the farm cats, too! Lee is a gracious host with an interesting life story. It's really nice to experience Kauai without the big resort vibe attached. Ten points for the compost bucket! There is plenty to do in the area, and if you can figure out the new reservation system for Haena State Park (Napali Coast), it's definitely worth your effort. We highly suggest Rock Quarry Beach, Trilogy Coffee, the Kilauae Farmer's Market on Saturday morning, and the new wine bar & restaurant, Palate. If you get up early like a local, you can snag a spot in the free parking at Haena Beach and swim and snorkel at Tunnels. Amazing stuff.
Fantastic Kauai experience!
My wife and I greatly enjoyed our time at the farm. Lee was a gracious host and the cottage had the perfect amount of space and privacy. It’s a great location to have as a homebase to explore the island. We certainly will stay there again next time we come back!
It was a joy to host you two. Come back soon!
A little slice of paradise
This lush cottage was just what my husband and I were looking for during our stay near the north shore. We thoroughly enjoyed the sounds of geckos and roosters as we settled into the cottage. Lee was an excellent host and gave us with plenty of privacy during our visit. The outdoor shower is an experience not to be missed!
Sweet farm stay
Lee was very nice and her place and story are inspiring. My boyfriend had quite a lot of trouble with mosquitoes though - and the cabin, while a nice size and style, definitely is 'rustic'. I would come back again, and he would not. It depends on expectations I guess. We were just coming from a resort stay and it was definitely a change of pace for him! I would also ask for them to stock the kitchen just a little bit. There was no oil, not even salt - totally bare shelves. If you want to cook, be prepared to buy everything yourself. I've never been to a homestay / airbnb where a kitchen was that bare. Nice to pick some lettuces from the small farm, but everyone mentioned fruit trees in their reviews - and there was absolutely nothing in season apparently. So if it's important to you, make sure to ask if anything is in season before you go!
Thank you for staying with us.
Mosquitoes should not be a problem inside the cottage, assuming people keep the screen door closed. The lanai, on the other hand, like most places in the tropics that do not spray for them, can be problematic for folks who are particularly sensitive. Resorts spend copious amounts of time and money making sure that their guests do not experience those pesty buggers!
I do not stock any condiments in the cottage - if folks leave them behind, I they are there for them. Often there are plenty. Often not. Sorry you expected them for your vacation cooking. I am always happy to loan my guests oil, salt, etc - and many times folks ask. Once again, I'm sorry you did not.
As for fruit - yep! - it is seasonal. Citrus was done. Avocados were not quite ripe. There were papayas and cream apples. Do wish you had inquired with me.
Hope this addresses all your concerns. It was so nice to meet you and talk briefly, Julie.

Magical cottage on an organic farm in Kilauea!
We had a wonderful stay at Lee's cottage on her organic farm, the cottage had an authentic Hawaiian feel with large windows overlooking the beautiful landscaping and island breezes blowing in. We woke up each morning to a chorus of birds, so amazing! The place was very comfortable, charming and private. Lee was very kind and even upgraded us to a larger cottage. Highly recommended, we loved our stay there!
Thank you for staying with us! Glad you were happy here at the farm.

Lee's cottage is the perfect, relaxing place to escape to on the north shore. Not only is it a great launch pad for island adventures, the porch and living room is cozy and spacious enough to relax on rainier or cloudier days. The kitchen and grill was perfect for prepping small in-house meals when we just wanted grab some fresh fish, fruit or veggies and eat-in. We couldn't have had a better stay.
Thank you so much for staying with us!! You two were the perfect guests. Hope to see you back at the farm another time.
