Idyllic Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We stayed for a mini break in the October half term in this delightful cottage. It's rural setting within walking distance of two exciting hills including Chrome Hill make it a safe but interesting place for children to explore. The cottage is about half an hours drive from Alton Towers (which we did with our tescos vouchers!) but equally close to Mam Tor and all the caves. The cottage is well equipped and very comfortable. We were very happy there and would certainly consider going back there again.

a cottage full of character

Lovely cottage. Warm and cosy. Only slight difficulty was drying wet walking clothes as towel rail not on and radiators can not be covered but not a big issue. Would certainly think about renting again as such a beautiful location.

VICARAGE COTTAGE, HOLLINSCLOUGH

  • 5 of 5

Lovely cottage. Just what my dream country cottage would be like. Fantastic views and walks straight from front door. Log burner in frontroom was perfect , we lit it every night, not because it was cold, but because we could!! Very relaxing long weekend. Thankyou. Heather and Steve Halliday.

A beautiful quiet idyllic cottage

  • 5 of 5

Had three night mini break walking and relaxing in this lovely cottage. Was great to see working dairy next door and stars at night were amazing. Easy access to landnor for fab fish and chips and pubs. Buxton was great with great vintage shops in the old baths. All in all a very relaxing 3 days. Will be back,

Away from it all!

  • 5 of 5

We loved the cottage. It was comfortable, well-furnished and its period features are very charming. It has efficient modern radiators a wood-burning stove and satellite TV for any wet days and wonderful walks from the front door. I keep going back and taking new friends who are hoping to rent it themselves. I enjoy being near Buxton where so much is going on.

Notes:
Vicarage cottage is bright and welcoming with comfortable furniture and new beds. Modern heating and a log burning stove have recently been installed together with a satellite box for the TV. The cottage was once the drawing room and bedrooms of the Vicarage and the fire place and various period features including shutters take one back into the early 19th century. It has recently been refurbished and is cheerful and attractive. Hollinsclough is a charming friendly village in remarkable country where the sounds are the distant rumble of a passing tractor, cows and chickens going about their daily life and the stream running down to the River Dove.
