About Pip and Simon
Pip and Simon are both solicitors and partners in life as well as work. We live and work in Nottingham and have three grown up children between us as well as two cats. In addition to the Budapest apartment we also have a seafront villa on the island of Korcula in Croatia as well as a rural French property in the Dordogne, which is also listed on Home and Away (property number 8418378). As the youngest child departs for university our time has come. Our pension is our properties. We live in each one for a while and then move to the next! Aren't we lucky we hear you say. Thus, you are not staying in an investment property but a home. We pride ourselves on our properties and maintain high standards. We are personally available on the end of a phone at any time to answer any queries.
Pip and Simon purchased this Apartment in 2017
Why Pip and Simon chose Lipótváros
We have the French rural retreat, the seafront property on an island in Croatia and needed a city centre apartment to provide the buzz. Having visited most European capitals, Budapest was the stand out city for us. Easy to access by air, rich in culture and heritage, this is a city that is on the up. Having researched long and hard it was apparent that the fifth district in Pest was the best place to be in Budapest. Everything is a short walk away. There are literally hundreds of restaurants, bars and coffee houses. There is always something to see or do and it is a year round city.
What makes this Apartment unique
Having trawled the internet to find an apartment it became clear that there is a distinct and classic Budapest style of apartment. These were built in the 1900’s and are elegant buildings, normally built around a courtyard. They invariably have fabulous parquet floor, high ceilings and chandeliers. We were appalled to find the market awash with modern renovated apartments which had replaced parquet flooring, for example with vinyl flooring! We wanted an original and after many viewings achieved our goal. It was then a case of renovating it so as to keep all the original features but to bring the property into the 21st century. This a home for us when we are in Budapest and not just a rental investment. See the photographs – they don’t lie. There is a lift (crucial) and an air-conditioning unit, which takes the edge of the summer heat. All furniture, linens and towels are of top quality and the apartment carries everything that one could need.

Very convenient and safe location. Very spacious. Well-stocked apartment. Easy, efficient communication with owners and their manager’s assistant. My children loved playing the piano.
Shower drain didn’t work well so we had to clean out the drain as best we could before it would drain at all. The shower doesn’t have a curtain, nor door, so you essentially have to shower in the corner in order to avoid spraying water all over.
That aside, we had a lovely stay. So much to see and experience!
Delightful apartment and a perfect location to explore Budapest from.
What a great spot to explore Budapest for the first time from.
It is a wonderful spacious and airy apartment, thoroughly modernised but retaining the classic touches of parquet floors, wooden window blinds, high ceilings and, unbelievably, a small grand piano.
It provided all we needed as a base for exploring central Budapest. It is very close to the city centre and just a short walk from the Danube itself. It is also on the 100E shuttle bus run from the airport (less than £3) at the adjacent Astoria stop.
Simon and Pip could not have been more helpful and even arranged for the printing of our tickets for the Parliament building - book online before you go to avoid queues and well worth a visit at just £10.
Simon also suggested a few great places for a drink or an evening meal (Ruben is top class and literally around the corner).
Will definitely use the apartment when we visit Budapest again.
Top marks all round.
A stunning, modern and relaxing stay in a beautiful city.
This beautiful flat is in the heart of the city yet contained in a quiet courtyard with very authentic entrance.
The design, layout and furniture were all very impressive, the bathroom and kitchen give a very luxurious feeling.
The rooms are incredibly spacious yest cosy. It was a struggle to leave the bed as they were so comfortable.
We cooked up breakfast every morning before heading out to explore the city; the kitchen has everything you need.
I will certainly book again when I return to the city and have already recommended to both friends and family.
Thank you for the great stay!

Place was beautiful and stylish! It was located nearby the river which was stunning at night. Close to everything and conveniently situated in downtown. The apartment is very nice, clean, perfect equipped, big and comfortable. We felt like home and the communication with Isabella was quick and very friendly. We were very happy with the views and location of the apartment, and hope to be back soon!
Thank you for your great review. So pleased that you enjoyed everything. You are welcome back anytime!
A great apartment in a top location
We came away for a long weekend with friends. The apartment is spacious, clean and very nicely presented. Fittings are top quality - and the apartment comes with all the mod-cons - we ate out both breakfast and dinner, but you could cook in if desired. Budapest is an awesome city with some much history and architecture to see. Loads of great restaurants and bars - check out the Ruin Bars - they are something special.
Thanks Pip and Simon for offering such a great apartment for our stay - we will be back in the summer!!
Pleasure to have you there and happy to have met with your approval. You are welcome back anytime.
Great location and typical updated Budapest apartment.
This is a great apartment in a great location in the middle of Pest. Walking distance to many great sights and restaurants. It's not the prettiest building outside but once you get by the entry door it is classic Budapest apartment with high ceilings. Street parking can be tough but there are 2 secure pay garages that are a few steps away. Typical Budapest. We will definitely stay there next time in Budapest.
Many thanks for your kind review Adam. You are welcome anytime
You are in a fantastic capital city with so much to do and see.Everything is in walking distance. If you want to go further afield the underground is on your doorstep. You have to walk along the Danube. See the Parliament building, ride a tram, visit the ruin bars, take in the amazing architecture. Culture is everywhere. The food covers all tastes and prices remain low.
