Why Traci Hamilton & Tyler Barnes chose Underwood
*** Summer 2019: Your hosts are building their dream home next door. There may be some construction noise during your visit, but only during business hours: 8am to 5pm, Monday - Friday and occasionally on the weekend depending on the state of our project. Your host may be on site working so drop by for a tour - ideally near the end of the day after 4pm. *** We bought this one acre parcel back in 1999 with the intent to build a shop and garage with living quarters above – the space you are in now – that we would live in while building the main house, when time and money allowed. As a “young couple” with no money, we searched for used and reclaimed materials, enlisted the help of friends and family to help build this structure, and essentially were able to “build a house” ourselves. Providing shelter for yourself is a primal experience and is exhausting, challenging and rewarding.

No problems. Easy!
Beautiful and cute cabin with a wonderful, warm and friendly interior design. Close to Hood River. The owners were very friendly.
Amazing cabin close to so much!
We had such an amazing time! We very comfortably had 4 people stay at this property. The home is beautiful and very well decorated. Sparkling clean and had everything you could need. We didn’t bring our dogs this time, but they had towels and blankets for dogs and even water and food bowls. So in the future (we 100% will be back) I hope to bring my pup. It’s so close to swimming and tons of water sports, about an hour from Portland, and even if you just want to stay home and BBQ, the property is gorgeous. We saw quite a few deer and a Turkey and her babies walk through the property. Thanks so much for sharing your home! It was such an amazing memory for us all.
Lovely little place!
I stayed here with my two kids, 12 and 6. This home is very clean, cute and cozy, and spacious enough for the 3 of us. The mattress, pillows and linens in the master were very comfortable. I appreciated that the linens did not have a strong chemical fragrance smell. Kids slept well on the couch and pull out loveseat bed. I originally thought the two pull outs would open to be foot to foot with each other, but I don't think there is enough space for that. I didn't ask the owners because my daughter was happy to sleep on the couch without pulling it out. The woodsy setting was very peaceful and having morning coffee on the deck in the Adirondack chairs listening to birds and watching squirrels and deer proved to get my day off to a great start! The home was easy to find. The driveway was slightly challenging--steep with a curve but parking on the street would be an option for someone who wasn't comfortable with it. Downtown Hood River was a 10 min drive. Overall, I really liked this place, would recommend it and would stay there again. Thank you to Tyler and Traci for having it so clean and being very responsive to each of my communications.
Thank you for such a thorough review. The driveway can be a bit tricky especially for a full size SUV like yours. We hope the new house and driveway adjustments will make it easier for everyone. Glad you enjoyed your stay. -Traci & Tyler
Super cute cabin.
Super cute cabin! We enjoyed our stay at the property, it was also very dog friendly our golden doodle loved the yard as did our seven year old daughter.
Lots of great wild life as well, owners were very assessable and the property was laid out nicely for our stay.
Cozy retreat in the woods
We loved our stay here. It was very clean and in the woods with 1/2 dozen deer each morning playing in the yard. They were very tame and were not at all afraid of human movement.
The home perched in the tree line and has a wonderful expression to it.
We will be back!
White Salmon is 4 miles away with most major services.
