Space 1,000 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Historic, comfy schoolhouse cottage sleeps 6. 2 BR 1Ba in Dollywood's front yard

Now a charming vacation rental that sleeps up to six, the Montgomery School was once a fully operational private school run by my mother and grandmother!

I have spent the last three and a half years carefully renovating it into a 2 bedroom 1 bath comfy cottage and now I'm excited to share it with the world! The schoolhouse is full of history and fond memories and I've put the historic element of the spirit of this place into the decor!

You will enjoy your own comfortable and private space literally on Dollywood's doorstep! Sitting on the patio behind the schoolhouse, you will enjoy beautiful views of Parrot Mountain and watch the tram taking people into the park.

I've modernized the kitchen and filled it with all you need to enjoy meals together at the cottage!

It's proximity to Dollywood and Splash Country makes it the perfect location for a couples' or family getaway. The location also provides easy access to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville.

Each bedroom has a flat screen TV with HD cable and the living room features a big screen 55" 4K UHD TV with HD cable service and a 300 Watt Bluetooth soundbar. We have a Blu Ray DVD and book collection for your enjoyment as well as a full size washer and dryer!

Old school charm meets modern comfort in a convenient location! Have a memorable stay in the only remaining schoolhouse available for rent in Pigeon Forge!

This is an excellent alternative to the typical log cabin options in the area. Very comfortable, unique, clean, and directly across the street from Dollywood. Highly recommend!

Awesome Schoolhouse

  • 5 of 5

This cottage was charming, relaxing, private and very clean. We loved the attention to detail that Charles used in restoring this building. The design is special because it retains the history of the building, yet it has a nice, inviting flow to feel like home. Charles was helpful and kept us informed. It is in a perfect location, very close to Pigeon Forge and right across the street from Dollywood. We hope to come back again!

A little piece of heaven

  • 5 of 5

My husband, mother-in-law and my two mini doxies simply loved this school house. Charles welcomed us and was very gracious at showing us around the house. We have stayed in Pigeon Forge/Sevierville for years and really loved dealing with Charles. This little school house is charming and accommodating and it is right off the main road and nestled away from the hustle and bustle of traffic. We loved the wonderful king size bed with the yummy mattress topper that made it hard to get out of bed on the fall mornings. This little school house has not only much history about it but it had a peace about it that made us feel secure and very much at home. There are TV's in every room and extremely comfortable living room furniture. What we loved about this place was the accessibility of one floor and that was important to me as I had an elderly mother-in-law and I did not have to climb up and down stairs to take her to the potty. I highly recommend this house to the "older folks or anyone with knee problems" just for the accessibility of not having to climb steps. Another wonderful blessing was that there was a washer and dryer in the cottage! That's right, no dirty clothes to take home after a long drive!!!! We were very sad to go but will be back next year!!!

Thank you Charles for the wonderful work you have done to preserve such a precious memory of your dear family! Your momma and grand mother are looking down from heaven and smiling!

About Charles Taylor

My name is Charles Taylor. I was born and raised in Sevier County. My brother and I actually attended Montgomery School as children. You can see our names written in the concrete outside from the year 1990. I am a real estate agent in Pigeon Forge and know the area and market like the back of my hand. Please let me know if you're interested in more information on purchasing a rental property of your very own.

Charles Taylor purchased this cottage in 1982

Why Charles Taylor chose Pigeon Forge

After an extremely long, daunting renovation I wanted to share my schoolhouse with the world because it is so special to me. There is so much history within these four walls, it's astounding. I kept the historic schoolhouse theme in the decor while renovating it into a comfortable vacation rental! Being so close to Dollywood also makes it a perfect rental. By passing through and staying here you will be adding to the rich history of The Montgomery School. I hope you can make your own unforgettable memories here like so many have before you.

What makes this cottage unique

This is the only former schoolhouse in Sevier County available for rental. The location is outstanding. Sitting on the patio you will enjoy the beautiful mountain views and watch the Dollywood tram taking people into the park. You must see The Montgomery School to truly grasp and understand how awesome it is.

Car: necessary

The Montgomery School cottage is right across the street from Dollywood and Dollywood's Splash Country. You can see the parking lot from the patio. I've had a few people ask me about traffic. Dollywood stays open until 10P so there isn't a mass exodus out of the park. People will be slowly thinning out as the evening wears on. After you turn out of the park like you are heading towards Pigeon Forge you will immediately turn on the street my property is located on. It's in a terrific location. If you know where this is than you know how close you will be to all the fun and excitement Pigeon Forge has to offer.
