We have enjoyed exploring Eleuthera since the early 1970's. We find more beautiful beaches each visit.
Bill Furry purchased this house in 1992
We like the quiet village and lifestyle. The people in Eleuthera are friendly and helpful.
It's a get a way that provides lots of quiet time for reading and exploring. Many quiet beaches near. We have 200 feet on the water. The water is shallow for water walking.
Thank you so much for sharing your great home with us! Such an incredible view. Uninterrupted blue water as far as you can see.
The house was low key and beachy but nicely appointed, with great furniture, comfortable beds and a well-stocked kitchen. Our family of 5 was very comfortable. AC worked and was helpful at night!
We loved our fishing and snorkeling trip with James. We caught -- and cooked -- Porgy, Margaret, and Trigger fish. And he cut up some conch and we made conch salad from a Bahamian cookbook in the bookshelf!
We snorkeled and swam for hours out in the amazing bay right in front of the house. The water is crystal clear. Perfect for kids. What a treat just to go right down the steps!
Very quiet undeveloped area-- which we loved. Good information on what to do nearby. We went to the deserted beach by Peachers cave (saw the blue hole but were too scared to jump!) and visited the flats in The Current at the perfect time of day. We also drove down to the Queens Baths. Perfect place to spend a windy day!
Thomas's bread and cookies in town were a daily excursion as well as fruit and tomatoes from the stand up the road. Fresh Papaya!
Quick things to note: Like many island hones, the water is potable but smells a little like sulfur and is very minerally. We totally didn't mind.. They have bottled drinking and cooking water. The no see ums and mousquitos can be rough, and the screens aren't perfect, but if you wear a little bug spray you are fine.
I can't wait to rent again!
On spring break a few weeks ago stayed at this very comfie well maintained home on Eleuthera. We were looking for a place to unwind with our children and this was the perfect spot. The Caribbean is right down the back steps (see photos) and the kids spent endless hours in it. At low tide, you can sit in the water for an hour and it is warm enough that you are comfortable. Once past the first ten feet, you can't find a rock for 1/2 mile, just soft sand. Crystal clear and absolutely beautiful. Three bedrooms and an additional small one in the front of the house. We would barbecue out on the back patio often and sit out and watch the stars at night. There are very few lights outside after dark so you can actually see shooting stars and a complete sky filled with stars. Twice we went to Harbour Island which has shopping, wonderful restaurants and bars and the world famous Pink Sand Beach which is a beautiful all sand rockless beach on the Atlantic side. It is a 10 minute car ride to the docks in Eleuthera and a 10 minute taxi speedboat ride to the island, $5 per person. Another day, we drove 1/2 way down the coast of Eleuthera stopping a various shops, bars and restaurants throughout the day. The owner keeps a very informative guidebook that lists things to do and see and discusses the better restaurants and bars. The people on the island are very friendly and hospitable, everyone waves at you when you drive by, unlike several other islands in the Caribbean that we've been to. The house is wired for internet in case you need to get in touch with friends or work. All in all, a most wonderful and relaxing family vacation and I highly recommend staying here.
A few weeks ago my wife and I had the pleasure of staying at this great Eleuthera getaway. Most everyone knows how stunningly beautiful the water is in the Bahamas but when you combine that with a well appointed and comfortable home you are in for a special treat. Whether you are active or just want to relax there is plenty to satisfy one's desires. My wife loves shelling and found numerous sand dollars and starfish in the shallow beach water in front of the house. A stay here must be accompanied by a visit to the fabulous new resort nearby called "The Cove", as well as, a brief water taxi ride to Harbor Island famous for it's pink sand beach and great shopping. It doesn't get much better after a fun filled day than sitting out on the large patio with your favorite refreshment looking out over the incredible blue waters of the Caribbean watching the most beautiful sunset you'll ever see. We highly recommend this relaxing getaway for it's comfort, beauty and solitude.
Beautifully decorated in a "Coastal Living" casual and comfortable style, the house was a delight. The view of the blue green crystal clear water from the house and patio was perfect, swimming in the warm, shallow water great and I can think of few places more restful for a getaway from the real world. A forever memory: watching a gentle, giant Manta Ray glide majestically by in front of the house. There are interesting villages and soft enticing beaches to explore nearby. An added bonus is that charming Harbour Island, just off the north shore of Eleuthera, with its shops, restauants and pink sand beaches, is just a short drive and a fun water taxi ride away. The owners are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. We loved it!
My husband and I have stayed in this house on the beach in Eleuthera. The house is beautifully appointed--very nice in every respect. The beach is wide and shallow and soft for walking or playing or swimming.. I really cannot over-emphasize how much we liked both this house and Eleuthera. It is a perfect private vacation spot for couples and a great house and beach for families as well. Enjoy!!
There are an amazing number of beaches in Eleuthera. If you like clean quiet beaches, you will find them in all locations along the 110 miles of Eleuthera.
Surfers will enjoy Surfer's Beach.
Harbor Island has many fine restaurants along the pink sand Beach. It is just a 15 minute car ride and a 10 minutes boat ride away
