About William Rodger
We love this beautiful region of Southern France and have enjoyed many family holidays at our house in Ceret. Since purchasing the house we have had a pool installed and have updated the kitchen/diner and the bathrooms. We have also enlarged the front terrace to create a wonderful sunny area overlooking the pool and with mountain views. We find the terrace to be a perfect place to relax, and to enjoy a glass of the local wine in the evening. We are delighted by the positive feedback we receive from our guests, especially from our repeat bookers.
William Rodger purchased this Villa in 2002
Why William Rodger chose Céret
Ceret is well situated as there is easy access to the long, sandy French Mediterranean beaches, with beach bars and restaurants and all types of water sports. Alternatively you can drive over the border and visit the sandy coves and white-washed resorts of the Costa Brava. Inland the countryside is beautiful with walking and riding in the mountain ranges, plus olive groves and cherry orchards. Ceret is a lively town and everyone comes into the centre of town on a Saturday morning for the market where there is a breathtaking display of local produce . Depending on the season, taste the cherries, nectarines, apricots and melons. At the end of May there is a cherry harvest festival. The main festival is in mid July when bulls run through the streets, followed by much dancing and drinking. There is a well known Museum of Modern Art in the centre of town, with work by the Fauvists, Cubists and Surrealists. The house is detached and has a well established garden, with a lemon tree, olive tree, lavender and sunflowers. The pool is a good size (10m x4m x 1.54m depth). It is surrounded by a pool deck with sun loungers, and there is a lockable safety fence. The house is spacious with 4 bedrooms and 2 updated bathrooms. There is WiFi, a TV and DVD player with a selection of DVDs. There is a spacious cellar with a table tennis table and settees.
What makes this Villa unique
We enjoy buying baguettes and croissants from the local bakers, just 5 minutes walk away, and also walking into Ceret to have dinner in one of the local restaurants. There are so many places to visit in the local area (both in France and in Spain) but the house is also a perfect place for relaxing beside the pool, or on the terrace.

Lovely holiday at this lovely house
The property has plenty of character and was very comfortable. With good size bedrooms and bathrooms and a well equipped modern kitchen. The house is well maintained and near enough to the centre of Ceret to be convenient, about 15 mins walk. A great pool area with welcome shade provided by mature trees in the afternoon. A good location for a family holiday. We would be very happy to recommend this property.
Thank you. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at our house.
Very comfortable villa, good sized bathrooms and pretty much everything you needed. Pool was lovely but a lot of shade in the afternoon. Really liked that you could walk into Ceret which is a lively town with a great market. We had great days out - beaches at Couillore, visit to Castelnou (prettiest village in France) and a short trip on the Little yellow train. Was easy to find something for everyone or just staying put and soaking up the sun.
The villa is situated a 10 minute walk from the centre of Ceret, a lively market town with medieval fortifications and huge plane trees in the foothills of the Mediterranean Pyrenees. Ceret is 25kms (30minutes) from the sandy beaches of the French Mediterranean coast. This is the sunniest part of France, with dry and sunny summer days (average 28 degrees C in July) with breezes to cool the heat. Ceret is famous for its light and has attracted many artists, including Picasso and Soutine. There is a well known Museum of Modern Art in the centre of town, with work by the Fauvists, Cubists and Surrealists. Ceret has a good selection of shops and restaurants. Everybody comes into the centre of town on Saturday morning for the market where there is a wonderful selection of local produce on offer; taste the apricots, peaches, melons and nectarines, as well as the famous local cherries. A short drive over the Pyrenees takes you to the Costa Brava region of Spain, with sandy coves and small white-washed resorts. Visit Cadaques, the former home of Salvador Dali, and the spectacular medieval town of Besalu. Languedoc-Roussillon is an important wine region and there are many local vineyards open for tastings.
