Port Aransas House Rental Photos and Description

Beach House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, Sleeps 12, Pet Friendly! Minutes to beach!

**Please note that any listing of this house on Craigslist is fraudulent. **

Welcome to the Blue Roost!

Our beach house has everything you would need for a vacation here - comfortable beds with cool and crisp linens, fluffy bathroom towels, open shelves in the kitchen stocked to feed friends and family, beach toys and chairs for days in the sun. Bring your food and you are good to go. As our guests say in our reviews, the "house is very comfortable and plenty of room for us and guests aged 5 months to grandparents. Gated porch is wonderful for kids, dogs and early morning coffee. Love the walk to the beach on the boardwalk."

Year round Port Aransas has something for everyone! There is abundant sun, surf and sand if you just want to "get away from it all." If you are lucky, watch a turtle hatchling release at the Padre Island National Seashore during the summer. Port a is THE place for fishing - in the bay, offshore or from the jetties - you are sure to go home with some fish tales! For the nature lover, the birds here are incredible - seeing a squadron of Pelicans dive for their meals, or the pink of Roseate Spoonbills never gets old for us! If you want to go shelling on a secluded island, check out San Jose Island - accessible by ferry from Port A For the art lover - the Port Aransas Art Center holds classes and has gorgeous local art available for purchase. Relaxing on the beach or adventuring in town, you won't be board in Port Aransas!

This charming beach house gives you the best of both worlds - close to the beach and to town. The sand is less than 5 minutes away via the private La Playa neighborhood boardwalk and our place is your best location for the yearly SandFest event located right across the boardwalk on the beach.

The Blue Roost is a three bedroom, two bathroom beach house that sleeps up to 12. It is comfortable enough for a quiet stay for two and large enough for a vacation with the extended family. Great for girls getaways, fishing excursions and family trips. As our guest at the Blue Roost (an owner managed property) you will have easy access to the house via your personal lock code - which means no coordinating schedules to pick up/drop off keys and no danger of losing keys at the beach!

Kitchen/Dining

This beach house has a large, fully equipped kitchen that holds everything you need to feed friends and family. The beautiful blue tile island in the kitchen is the heart of the house. The two dining room tables seat 10 with an additional three seats at the kitchen island. For morning coffee or al fresco dining, just outside the kitchen the covered sitting area is perfect for 5 with adirondack chairs around the side deck for 4 more.

Living Room

The cozy living room has two full sized slip covered Pottery Barn sofas. Slip covers are new! If you need to stay in touch with the outside world, access the wifi throughout the house and on the deck. Use the new flat screen TV to see DVDs, Directv (HD) and Netflix when you want to take a break from the sun.

Bedrooms

The large master bedroom downstairs has a king bed and the equally large guest room across the hall has two queen beds. The downstairs bedrooms share a bathroom. The upstairs, called the Seven Dwarfs room by my kids, is a fabulous 37-foot-long bedroom with one queen bed, 4 twin beds and a bathroom. All bedrooms are equipped with an HD DirecTV. All bedding and bath towels are provided. No wimpy towels here!

Two Levels of Decks

The upper deck is a great area to work on a tan while enjoying a lovely birds eye and partial view of the Gulf. When you've had enough sun, lounge on the covered lower deck and enjoy the balmy breezes and sounds of the sea. Both decks have gates at the steps, providing a secure area for small children or pets.

Other amenities include:

* Plenty of covered parking

* Outdoor shower and hose to rinse off the sand

* Playhouse and sand toys for the kids

* Basketball hoop - bring a basketball!

* Washer/dryer

The Blue Roost is dog friendly. Well behaved dogs are allowed but must be crated inside when unattended.

About Maggie and Bruce Tate

Our Story:

A few years ago, we filled my uncle's beach house in Scituate, MA with cousins from across the globe to celebrate my grandmother's 100th birthday. It was a fantastic time to reconnect and that time at the beach with family changed our lives. We knew we wanted to create that kind of place and experience for our girls to connect with friends and family more frequently and closer to home. As I searched the web for property on the Texas Coast, I found the Blue Roost. I fell in love with the blue tile in the kitchen and knew the kids and their friends would love the Seven Dwarfs room upstairs. We drove down to Port A mid week in the Spring of 2010 and put in an offer. And the rest, as they say, is history! We love staying at the Blue Roost and we know you will, too. It has become that place we dreamed it would be for our family and our guests. We love traveling and enjoy the beach, going as often as time permits. We have two teenage girls and a golden retriever and usually bring a pack of friends to the beach with us. We currently live in Austin, TX.

Why Maggie and Bruce Tate chose Port Aransas

Our house is close to the beach and to town. The kids like to have the option of beach time or shopping and it's all walking distance. The house is on a cozy little street in a sweet neighborhood. We chose the Blue Roost because I fell in love with the blue tile in the kitchen.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy beach time, searching for shells, watching birds (and people!) Our favorite coffee and gelato place, Coffee Waves, is a mile a way and we like to walk there to get an afternoon treat. We have coffee and breakfast every morning on the lower deck. The upper deck is great for sitting in the sun. We love the layout of the house - the big open kitchen is a gathering place for everyone. The upstairs bedroom is terrific for the kids and their friends.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We stayed at #2 La Playa for 60 days in Jan-Feb, 2011. It is a large comfortable freestanding condo within 100 yards of the municipal beach of Port Aransas. We had a great time walking and jogging on the beach, collecting shells, photographing the birds, etc. If you are not familiar with Texas beaches, you can walk or drive for over 10 straight miles. Heating and air conditioning work well but are rarely needed. The kitchen is large and well equipped. The two decks have southern exposure which is excellent and the street is very quiet. It is about a mile to town with shopping, restaurants, churches, etc. We will be staying here in the future which is the best sort of endorsement you can give.

Great place for a family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Love our stay at Dogs fly free. Great place for children and adults. Beach is just a short walk on a boardwalk, lower deck is great for dogs and children to play on and favorite of our group for morning coffee. Upper deck is nice for mornings as well as star viewing at night. House is comfortable, has a well stocked kitchen with all the utensils and cookware needed to cook a meal, location is close to town, and owners are very attentive when help is needed.

We were 6 adults and 2 children, a dog and had more than enough room. W.ould highly recommend.

I definitely recommend this beach house. A beautiful home. Maggie was so nice and very accommodating! The kids loved playing on the 2 decks. The house was very nice and we had plenty of room. Easy In and Out.

  • 4 of 5

The house was clean and ready for us when we showed up, and the layout made if perfect for a get together with several kids and 7 adults. The kids were particularly charmed by the attic room with all the twin beds - they loved it! We would stay there again.

A perfect host, home and location for Memorial Weekend

  • 5 of 5

Loved the location and the house! Exceptionally clean, it was perfect from the moment I walked in and passed all my picky inspections. All of the bedrooms were large and beds were extremely comfortable. There wasn't a need in the kitchen that wasn't met whether it was preparing a meal, mixing drinks or pouring the wine. With 10 adults plus one dog in the house, over our four day stay, it never once felt cramped. The third floor deck is perfect for watching the sunset or the waves roll in to shore - and I am sure the sunrise is just as spectacular but we were all fast asleep. Coffee Waves is located on Avenue J - a five minute ride from the property and serves great coffee, croissants, sandwiches and gelato. What was great about this place was even though it was Memorial weekend, it didn't feel crowded in our cul-de-sac. The decor of the home is more like staying with a relative in their home. Maggie was prompt in answering her phone when I first arrived and needed help in working the lock and answering a few island questions. She was helpful, informative and not intrusive. In short, The Blue Roost is very comfortable, spacious, and provides an easy walk to the beach on the private walkway. We rented a golf cart to run around the island, which was handy but not necessary. We will definitely rent The Blue Roost again. Thank you Maggie and Bruce Tate for allowing us to be guests in your home. We loved it!
