Weddings: Over the last few years La Paloma has become very popular as a wedding venue or as a place for family and friends to stay whilst attending a wedding on the Island. The secluded tropical garden is a wonderful place to hold the ceremony, with the sound of the gently lapping waves just the other side of the trees. The sitting room/veranda and dining room are spacious and can host a reception or family gathering. All our guests who have used La Paloma as a base for their wedding have said how the location and staff have helped to make their special day even more memorable.
Cars and transport: A car is not essential, if you are feeling adventurous the buses run frequently, are cheap and a definite Barbados experience.! There is a a basic supermarket 5 minutes walk down the road. Both the nearby supermarket and the better stocked one in Holetown will deliver to the house. However if you hire a car you will not only be able to do the shopping more easily but you will then be able to tour the island, visit the historical sites and discovery fabulous beaches on the other side of the island.
The car is best booked in advance especially at busy times of year e.g. Christmas. The car can either be delivered to the house or the car hire company will meet you at the airport with the car.
There is off street parking for up to 4 cars.
It is also easy to organise taxis at any time of the day or night.
Golf: The world famous Sandy Lane golf course is a short drive away. There are several other golf courses on the Island with a wide range of fees
Our stay at La Paloma was unforgettable! The house was absolutely beautiful as was the location right on the beach. We couldn't have found a better spot for our small beach wedding. The owner and staff were extremely accommodating with our request to have an intimate gathering with friends and family. The backyard is completely secluded which is great for lounging in the sun or plunge pool but still having a little privacy. The beach is only steps away and there is a nice sand belt and reef for awesome snorkeling with fish and turtles. The deck with the view of the water might have been my favorite part. We had no need to turn on the TV or play in the game room because when we weren’t out or on the beach, we sat on the deck listening to the ocean and talking with friends. I can't say enough about how amazing the house staff was. The food prepared for us was so delicious and authentic! We planned many meals out but after tasting the chef’s food, there was no need to go out! The home is within walking distance to a market which was convenient. I am already counting down the days until we get to plan another trip to Barbados and La Paloma! Thank you to the owner and staff for making our stay and wedding day so memorable!
The villa was beautifully decorated in an elegant, colonial style. Our favourite area was the enormous terrace, with sofas, dining area etc all with an incredible view of the ocean. The pool was larger than we expected, I thought from the pictures that it was just a plunge pool, but it was in fact a small and nicely shaped pool. The beach is literally right outside the villa, and pretty much deserted. A bit rocky to get in so would recommend beach shoes, but glorious warm clean water once you make it in. Just a minutes walk to local bar/restaurant. Friendly welcoming staff, and extremely efficient, fast and secure booking and payment process. I would highly recommend this villa, which is very reasonable priced compared with other beachfront villas in Barbados.
We stayed at La Paloma in May2015. La Paloma is a lovely Caribbean home. It is furnished in a more traditional style ( rather than the ‘Mediterranean minimalist’ style favoured by some) and is very comfortable and welcoming. Everyone found the bedrooms really comfortable and the bathrooms are well appoint6ed. Special features are the dining room and the first floor balcony, which has sofas, coffee tables, fans, is truly comfortable and has a wonderful view of the Caribbean sea which is literally at the end of the garden. A garden gate leads directly onto the beach, and when you’ve finished there you can take your ease in a lovely plunge pool in the garden.
The house is kept in tip top condition by the staff who are all excellent , especially the cook, who will give up some secrets of Bajan cuisine if you ask her nicely!
All in all, a wonderful house and highly recommended.
I stayed here for three weeks to celebrate my grandparents 50th wedding anniversary and for my sister's wedding. It was absolutely fabulous to say the least. There were ten of us in our party with four generations of our family the oldest being in their seventies to the youngest being my two year old son. We all had the most amazing time. The villa was beautiful, very spacious and tastefully decorated, clean and with beautiful furniture. Maid service daily. Has a beautiful terraced lounge where we watched beautiful sunsets and a lovely big dining table where the wonderful cook, Ruth, prepared us fabulous meals. The villa has a gate at the bottom of the beautifully kept garden that leads straight onto the beautiful quiet beach and you are ten feet away from the ocean. We saw a family of turtles nearly every morning which my little boy loved. The area just outside the villa has a lovely sandy area leading into the water which is safe underfoot and the areas either side are coral reefs and great for snorkeling. The villa has its own kayaks which we used and there is a reputable jet ski operator just along the beach if you fancy some water sports. My little boy would play for hours on the beach looking for tiny crabs in the little holes they made and building sandcastles. You can walk quite far up the beach too. The pool is small but adequate and was great for us as my two year old loved splashing about in their for hours. The pool is deep enough to cover your shoulders for a plunge to cool down and has seating around the edge and is fenced in making very safe for families with young children. The gardens were beautifully kept by the lovely female gardener who would visit nearly every morning. There are ten sun loungers and plenty of clean beach towels. There is even a cute little resident ginger cat called princess who calls the garden her home, she is friendly and my two year old loved her. There is a lovely outdoor patio area downstairs with a table for ten that we would use for lunch. The younger adults in our party loved the big games room downstairs and we played plenty if games of pool and caught up on sporting events watching the tv in there. The rooms were lovely with big comfy beds and plenty of space for clothes. All rooms had their own bathrooms which were lovely with powerful showers. The staff have their own bathroom which is downstairs. There's an Italian restaurant within walking distance called Il Tempio which was yummy. Supermarket nearby
La Paloma is ideally located on the beautiful west coast sandy beach between Hole town and Bridgetown, close to some fabulous restaurants and all amenities needed. The villa offers very comfortable spacious accommodation with good quality furnishings and a very generous stock of kitchen equipment, crockery and glasses etc. The large open lounge/veranda is perfect for the whole party to socialise and looks out onto a beautiful garden, small but delightful pool and the ocean. There are plenty of sun loungers and outside seating both in the sun and shade with a large outside dining table. snorkelling equipment, beach towels and 2 kayaks are provided. The information pack provided is very current and helpful, especially for guests new to the area. What made the holiday extra special were the 4 staff at the villa, they were friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. The cook is excellent, imaginative and skilful providing us with delicious meals throughout. We will definitely return to La Paloma.
Charming family home. Directly on the beach and perfectly located 2 minutes walk from a supermarket and a 5 minute taxi ride to all the great restaurants on the island. Very fully staffed. Good value compared to other rentals I visited in Barbados. Not modernised but the lack of widescreen TVs helped us totally switch off and returning home truly relaxed. Hope to come again.
La Paloma Beach Villa is situated approximately half way between Bridgetown and Holetown, in Fitts Village. The famous Cliff and Cin Cin Restaurants are less than half a mile away. Sandy Lane and many of the luxurious West Coast hotels and restaurants are also very close. Jordans supermarket where most basic commodities can be bought is a 5 minute walk. There is a large supermarket and Gourmet Dele in Holetown. There is a new and very fashionable bar ,at the Lime Centre in Holetown but most of the night life occurs along the South Coast. Young family members can easily get Taxis through-out the night to St Lawrence Gap or Harbour Lights in Brigdetown. New visitors to the Island will be surprised at the wealth of things to do on the Island. Hiring a car to see the Atlantic coast and a visit to the Plantation houses which are open to the public is highly recommended.
Other Activities: There is world class surfing. Which part of the island depends on local conditions. Snorkelling is usually very good outside the house. There are several golf courses and windsurfing, diving and many other sports also available on the island
