About elizabeth clapham
We retired from Ottawa and moved to beautiful Gananoque. We enjoy boating, tai chi, walking and biking, bridge, and volunteering with the Gananoque, Ontario. Mike is originally from England and Elizabeth from Mauritius and immigrated to Montreal before moving to Ottawa and settled in Gananoque upon our retirement. We then moved to Ottawa. We travelled around the world with our jobs and enjoy meeting people from different places and enjoy different cuisine. Elizabeth also speaks French and a bit of spanish.
elizabeth clapham purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why elizabeth clapham chose Gananoque
We boated in the beautiful thousand islands for over 20 years. We loved the area so much that we chose this waterfront property where we can keep our boat and yet being very close to all the amenities. We bought our house in 2007 and moved full time when we retired in 2011 - hence, realizing our dream.

Very enjoyable three day fall visit
Hosts Mike and Elizabeth provided great hospitality in their comfortable apartment that was perfect for our brief stray. A block from the St Lawrence/1,000 Islands with a lovely neighborhood for a walk...and full of beautiful fall colors. We’ll certainly return.
Hi Jerry and Judith, Thank you for the review - much appreciated.
We are pleased you had a great time and would love to host you again when you in the area.
Best regards and happy Anniversary!
Mike and Elizabeth
Everything was in great condition and great working order ! The hot tub was super !
Our hosts were very hospitable and helpful in every way for us strangers to the area !!
Highly recommended !
Cozy little flat with great location
The flat was comfortable and well appointed. Mike, the host, was very friendly and responsive. The location was perfect for us, being within easy walking distance to the waterfront and to the downtown restaurant district. We kept our kayaks down by his dock and our bikes right outside the kitchen door. We loved the outdoor rocking chaise and the large living room windows made it a very nice environment. The hot tub seemed nice, but we didn't get around to using it.
Thank you for your very nice review. We are very pleased that you enjoyed our place and our town of Gananoque.
We hope to see you again when you are in the area.
Trust you had a safe journey back home.
Best regards, Mike and Elizabeth
Excellent spot for relaxation
Nice, clean and quiet spot - exactly as seen in the pictures. Very convenient location and amazing hosts.
We went there looking for a quiet, relaxing time and this was the perfect spot for it. Close to all the restaurants and attractions but quiet enough when we needed down time. We definitely would go back there.
Hi Shri and Priya,
It was very nice meeting you both. Thank you for your lovely review and we are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.
We are so lucky to have waterfront for relaxation and enjoy nature and yet steps to all the amenities.
We look forward to seeing you again when in the area.
Enjoy the rest of summer. Michael and Elizabeth
Lovely lower level apartment with private garden, swing and hot tub. We loved the location. Walked to the public beach, pubs, the Playhouse (The Canadian was excellent!), King Street, etc. We will be back!
It was a pleasure hosting you. Thank you for the lovely review. We are very fortunate to have found this house which exceeded our expectations. Gananoque is getting better and better with the proximity to the thousand islands and great touristic attractions both for tourists and local residents.
We look forward to seeing you again and get to the Moon Bay mass..the tallest cathedral in the world.. Michael n Elizabeth
Relaxing, comfortable, and charming stay
Our delightful stay began with a friendly greeting and short tour by Mike and Elizabeth, the charming hosts who live upstairs. They couldn't have been more helpful and friendly during our week there.
Yes, there are a few steps from the car down to this lovely (and very clean!) apartment, also from our patio to the river, but Elizabeth let us know about this and we had no issues.
Mornings and evenings on the patio made for a relaxing start and end of day. Our place in Gananoque was a great hub for vacation activities too! We launched our kayaks easily and right from the property and were looking at the 1000 Islands in minutes. We enjoyed day trips to Frontenac Provincial Park (the quietest, most secluded kayaking we had every experienced), Upper Canada Village, and Kingston – distances are very doable. And don't forget downtown Gananoque too and the Farmer's Market and music on Thursdays.
The bath is on the small side and there are a few steps inside the apartment, but, that aside, we enjoyed our waterfront spot very much. This was a very special place for us, and Elizabeth and Mike made us feel so welcome.
Centrally located/ Walking Distance - Beach, Yoga, Fitness, Spas, Theatres , Restaurants, Pubs, Shops, grocery store, Casino (shuttle bus), Ice cream parlour, Thousand Islands waterfront and cruise lines that would take you to visit many islands, including Boldt Castle (Bold Castle is optional and you need your passport to go in the United States)
