Premier Colorado Mountain Vacation Home – Spruce Hill Lodge

This house was perfect for our stay with 3 different families, including little ones. The views were amazing, the surrounding trees covered in snow were incredibly picturesque, the amenities were more than sufficient - I definitely recommend.

Things we loved:

1) The kitchen was well stocked with supplies and high end appliances. Large enough for several of us to be in there cooking and hanging out at the same time.

2) There were a lot of cooking supplies and spices and condiments already in the kitchen, so we actually didn't need to buy a lot of the things we had brought with us, like salt and pepper.

3) The hot tub was AWESOME. The views of the stars were incredible once you turn down the patio light dimmer. Really breathtaking and worth getting into a bathing suit for.

3) The dining table was nice and big and had plenty of room for all of us to have family style dinners.

4) The view from the kitchen window is insane. Very instagramable, especially with snow on the trees.

5) The driveway hill is perfect for sledding. The kids loved it and made it easier to entertain them without leaving the house.

Some things to take into consideration:

1) Getting to the house was a lot harder than I had realized it would be. Do yourself a favor and PRINT OUT maps to get to the house. We got turned around several times on the way since there is NO cell service and the road signs are very unreliable. If you do use an app for maps, use GOOGLE MAPS, not your iphone Apple Maps!

2) Get yourself a 4xd car! 2 of the 3 of the families in our group had 4wd but the 3rd that didn't had to try 3 different times to make it up the final country road to get to the house. They also had to use 3 bags of sand to get out of the driveway at the end of the week. Not ideal, so be prepared.

3) Locking the doors was a little difficult to figure out. At first we didn't think they locked at all, but realized a couple days in that they have a little trick to them. This is all explained in the handbook, but of course we overlooked this.

4) Netflix and our other streaming programs were unreliable with the spotty wifi. There is DirecTV with a lot of good movie channel options, so I didn't feel like we were missing out on much other than the kids favorite Netflix options.

5) The beds weren't very comfortable. The memory foam toppers (I think) were the root cause. They made the beds extra HOT, and made the two ppl sharing the bed roll towards the middle.

The property was a very spacious and comfortable place. The decorations were charming. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, spices and staples. The beds were comfortable but the pillows could be of a much higher quality, i.e., feather. We could not seem to lock the front door and the distance to Breckenridge was much farther than implied. It took 45 minutes to drive over the pass to Breckenridge. We would have appreciated more than one bath towel per person and either soap or shower gel should have been supplied. The driveway, which was very steep, should have had ice melt or sand applied prior to our arrival. None was available so I purchased it at the local hardware store.

Spruce Hill Lodge exceeded our expectations and the pictures do not do it any justice. The house is very spacious and is very well stocked with the basics. The views are amazing and I would love to go back to this house during the spring/summer. Terry was wonderful! Very responsive and attentive to our needs. We had one day of significant snow fall, and before the day was over there was a snow plow coming down the drive, which for this Texas girl was a pleasant surprise as I didn’t even have to call to ask for service. There are fans and humidifiers in every room which was very much needed for us. I highly recommend staying in this lovely home!!!

We had a blast, was nice and cozy just to sit and finally relax for few days. Watching the snow fall was amazing with the views. Thank you again for letting us rent this place
