Cozy river front home with beautiful sweeping views of the Truckee River and mountains. A hidden gem in a secluded and serene neighborhood. The house has recently been remodeled with modern mountain style finishes and furnishings, and is fully equipped with everything you should need to relax and enjoy the mountains. Some of the best fly fishing water that the Truckee River has to offer is right in our backyard, and the river can now be fished year round. There are several other good fisheries nearby including the Little Truckee River, Boca Reservoir, Stampede Reservoir, Prosser Reservoir, Donner Lake, and Pyramid Lake for large Lahontan Cutthroat. Fly fishing, Skiing, Paddling, Swimming, Biking, Hiking, and more, all right outside our door.

UPSTAIRS BEDROOMS: sleeps 8 people. 3 Bedrooms: one king and two queens, plus bunk beds. 2 Bathrooms: whirlpool bath and shower in master bedroom, shower in guest bathroom. This level is perfect for 3 couples, a romantic spacious getaway for two, ideal for families with kids, and group retreats.

UPSTAIRS KITCHEN: Full gourmet kitchen with granite counter tops, all new stainless steel appliances including: gas 5 burner stove top with griddle, dishwasher, side by side refrigerator, oven, and microwave. Lots of pots and pans, cooking utensils, and small appliances such as toaster, coffee maker, coffee grinder, mixer, blender, slow cooker, and more...

UPSTAIRS DEN: original rock fireplace from the 1890's with a daybed, rocking chair, and work desk with chair.

UPSTAIRS DECK: a large wood deck added in 2005, with amazing views of the river and mountains. There is a dining table with umbrella with seating for 6, plus 4 lounge chairs. The deck is gated - good for keeping small children and dogs contained. Because the house is built into the hillside, the back deck is on the 2nd story with stairs down to the back yard.

Covered metal grate bridge, and covered patio with seating and firewood storage. Moss covered granite boulders and native plants are spread through the natural landscape. About Riaz Finnemore

We are avid skiers, hikers, bikers, paddlers, and fly fishers. We love escaping from the city to our home in the mountains to enjoy some peace and quiet and the great outdoors. We invite you to stay at our place and we will try and provide you with everything you need to have a great vacation!

Riaz Finnemore purchased this house in 2002

Why Riaz Finnemore chose Lake Tahoe North Shore

We spotted this hidden gem of a house while fly fishing the Truckee river. It's in a great location with easy access from the bay area or the Reno airport. The neighborhood is small, secluded and quiet, and right outside the door we enjoy nature and all of our favorite activities - no car required!

What makes this house unique

Aside from the obvious benefit of having the Truckee River right in our back yard, there is a really nice fire road just 100 yards from our front door which you can walk, run, bike, and sometimes even cross country ski! It goes along the river for a few miles and provides access to different spots on the river as well as some great views! We also have Boca Reservoir just a couple miles up the road which has boating, fishing, swimming, camping, biking, etc. If you are into biking, there are lots of good roads and mountain bike trails right outside the door. Paddlers tend to put in near our house because a couple miles down stream are the best rapids on the Truckee. Fishing is also best on our section of the river as we benefit from additional water from Boca Reservoir and other feeder rivers. If you want to be the first one or last one on the river, nothing beats staying on the river! If you enjoy skiing then you will enjoy missing all the traffic going to the Lake as we have the reverse commute, and we are also closer to I80 when you want to head home! If you enjoy quiet and nature then this is the place, there is plenty of wildlife just outside the door.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay at your Truckee River House was great. Very different from our usual family vacation (we usually go to a lake). There is more than enough

to keep any family entertained. The pool table was a big success and the large area to play family games was also great. Lots of walks, watching

deer and other little creatures. We also did the river rafting and a tour of the Tahoe area. The house was more than accommodating for 12 people and we enjoyed the patio and outside area. Would be a great place in the winter also. Thanks again for the use for your home.

The perfect house right on the Truckee River!

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a very memorable weekend stay! The home is nicely appointed for families. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of dishes, glassware etc for our large group. We were celebrating a birthday and had all our adult children with us. Each couple had their own room and space for quiet time. The game room with the pool table was a big hit!

We are very familiar with the Truckee area and we highly recommend the Truckee River House if you have any fly fishing enthusiasts!

The owner, Riaz, was a pleasure to work with....always very quick in responding to my emails.

Fabulous setting

  • 5 of 5

The property is as advertised - clean, very comfortable, handsomely appointed with beautiful Truckee river views. It was a very relaxing place to hang out in and enjoy the peace and quiet - we hardly saw anyone the whole time we were there. Loved listening to the sound of the river. A welcome change of pace from our hectic city life. It was a pleasure communicating with the owner who was very responsive to my inquiries. The rental process was seamless. We plan to return.

4.5 stars - Very nice home and property in a great location

  • 4 of 5

This is a beautiful home in a great location, right on the Truckee River in Hinton, 7 miles east of Truckee. It is a quiet neighborhood and, even though it is in a small neighborhood, you have plenty of privacy. Great deck overlooking the river and easy river access. Close enough to town to make it easy to run in for supplies or a meal, but far enough out to unplug. Great place for a getaway.

Beautiful property

  • 4 of 5

Truckee has always been a fav place for my parents. My sisters and I rented this house that I found on the web site. It is the cutest house and you can tell the owner takes pride in the house. I loved my bed, but the rest of the crew said the beds were too soft. We loved that the river was close, we were going to take the raft in the garage and play on the river, but a part to the pump was missing. This turned out to be a good thing because we spoke to a raft guide and the current in the river is very strong. We would of been in trouble without a guide. So we used the inter tubes in the garage instead and paddled out and played in the river. It was so wonderful!. Nature was all around us and the water was nice and cold. My only complaint was that the steps going down to the river need to be secured, as a few of us were hauling chairs and tubes and almost fell because the steps were in need of repair. All and all this is a great place to stay and we will certainly come back. Thank you Mr. Finnemore for sharing your beautiful house. Cheers!.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review and rest assured those issues will be addressed. I'm glad you enjoyed the river as much as we do! The river upstream of the house is quite calm and good for those that want to float on their own with the tubes and raft that I provide. The river downstream has more flow and faster current, some sections are rated up to class 3 which requires good river skills and equipment, and I always recommend you go with a guide first. Professionally guided trips can be arranged for the lower river and are a really nice way to spend a few hours getting to know the river and natural surroundings.

Absulutely perfect in the summer!

  • 5 of 5

A large back patio and home with river access, we ate every meal outside! Beautiful summer evening meals! So many windows bringing natural light into the home and an open kitchen with six burners conducive to cooking large meals. Quiet and away from busy touristy areas in Tahoe. Some of us spent afternoons floating down the river or mornings hiking the beautiful trails in the Tahoe area. We'll definitely be planing a return trip.

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed it! The back deck really is one of the main highlights of the house. It's set up with table and chairs for 12, chaise lounges, and a grill, perfect for large groups to gather, dine, and enjoy fantastic sweeping views of the river and mountains! There are 3 new shade sails which everyone loves, they hover above the deck without blocking views and provide a nice amount of shade from the midday sun.
