Ili Ili Beach House is a truly unique location right on Pebble Beach. The smooth pebbles (known as ili ili in Hawaiian) create a soothing sound as the waves roll in and out. From the lanai or the garden you can watch the sunset and possibly see whales breech or dolphins play. Walk 50' and go swimming or snorkeling. Take off on a hike to an ancient cindercone or black sand beaches. Kayak to lava caves. Scuba divers love to beach dive off this beach.
Pebble Beach is not easy to find in the guide books. It is off the beaten track and therefore almost private. You will be located right in the middle of your own beach!
You will need lots of will-power to leave this house in its magical setting, but if so inclined this is a great location for exploring the Big Island. Visit the Place of Refuge, snorkel in Kealakekua Bay, surf Kahalu'u beach, do a night dive or snorkel with manta rays, drive 70 miles to the Volcanoes National Park or shop in Kailua only 25 miles away. So wake up, go for a swim and then hit the road.
High Speed Wireless access and Bluetooth sound system!! Bring your work and all your tunes and stay an extra week.

The place seduced us! We were staying with friends in the neighborhood and noticed that this house was on the market. We were not in the market for a rental, but we could not resist owning a house right on the beach.
We find this place very relaxing. It truly is hard to leave and we find ourselves only slowly getting out to explore the rest of the island.
Every time we come back it feels so good to slip into the comfort and magic of this place.
My wife, two grandsons and I had a lovely, week-long stay. The home is not elaborate, but quite fine and comfortable and well taken care of. The back yard is beach sand that the boys enjoyed playing in.
Under the deck (Lanie?) the owners provide kayaks, snorkeling gear, and live vests. There also was an outdoor BBQ with plenty of gas bottles.
Like most homes in the area, the household water is rainwater collected from the roof and stored in a huge water tank and filtered before reaching the faucet. Long showers are not recommended, but otherwise. there was plenty of water, and it was delicious!
The road down from the Belt Road is a very steep one mile offering beautiful views of the neighborhood, the sea, and a nearby lava flow all the way down. Some might find the drive intimidating. Me... I loved it.
The owners (who live in California) were friendly, cooperative and responsive, They were a delight to deal with.
There is little or no reliable cell phone service, but a quite decent wi-fi, so we had very good internet access. And once we downloaded a VoIP app, we could make calls out no problem. (Calls in, though, remained problematic.)
All in all, it was a lovely week in a lovely home in a stunning part of the world.
Very clean, well maintained home on a rock beach. 5 of us for spring break including our two teenagers had an amazing vacation here at Ili Ili. We enjoyed walking along the King's Trail taking in the oven views. We kayaked off the beach in front a couple days. Snorkeling at Two steps is 20 minutes away. We visited Captain Cook's monument to snorkel by hiking in. Worth the trip and be prepared with enough water for the 1,500ft elevation gain climbing back out. We enjoyed a visit to the Volcano National Park and a private tour over the lava flows to see the action. Well with the 2 hour drive from the house. Dinner at the Strawberry Patch North of Captain Cooks was a fresh and local meal made with lots of love and delivered by young, vibrant staff. Save rooms for dessert!
We loved the location, the island vibe, the drive along the ridge to see various sites and the return to our relaxing home outfitted with everything you need for an enjoyable vacation.
All four of us (adults) found this house a great place to stay. You cannot get more oceanfront than this! Comfy, casual, clean, plenty of space. Whale watching from the porch! We were a little surprised that one bathroom was outside the main house, (part of the attached building) but it worked out fine. And it's a bit further from Kona than we expected.
Overall, a great place to stay!
We loved it here, it really felt like home. We were a little surprised the second bathroom wasn't in the house but off of carport. That being said , we ended up using that one more.
The drive down the hill is crazy steep but we had no problems with a 4wd. The hikes just off the property were one of our favorite things. Thanks again for sharing your home.
My family was very much in need of a vacation - too much work, and school, and politics. Our children are 22 and 11; Husband wanted to relax, Wife loves to remain active - we all got what we wanted, including a place to disconnect, slow down, and reconnect as a family in a safe, comfortable, secluded, quiet, beautiful, restorative place; THIS was a perfect choice. From the moment we arrived and heard the nearby ocean rhythmically rush over, then being drawn back through, the ili ili black beach rocks, we knew this was the place. We arrived late in the evening after a very long day leaving a cold, beloved, Colorado behind. To drop our bags and sit outside watching the stars and listening to the surf was magic. Sleeping is so easy here, as is feeling excited to rise and explore. All of the modern conveniences are at hand (great wifi, etc) but the unforgettable memories will be lunch at Super J's right up the road (don't miss this modest wonderful "very local" place), or hiking to the "green sand" beach, spying sea turtle as we walked, or dining as we watched the sun set. Snorkeling, helicopter tours, whale watching by boat, visiting the active volcanic areas were a few of the many things we enjoyed. And we actually *did* sea pods of dolphins as we sat on the lanai! Chris was even so kind as to make his guitar available, and for this amateur-but-dependent player it was a godsend; in the evening I would sit on the wall and play as the sunset, even recording a few minutes of the mix of the sounds of sea and guitar, so that I can take myself back to that "place" whenever I need to return for a few minutes. We highly recommend this property for couples, families, friends - anyone seeking what you may have thought no longer existed.
We arrived to the house late at night when it was dark and we couldn't see a lot of a surroundings. I knew that the house is close to the beach and we could hear waves. But when I woke up next morning and stepped out to the living room, I was absolutely stunned. The house has a huge windows overlooking lanai and backyard, almost glass wall. I just stood there and couldn't believe my eyes. You practically have ocean in your backyard!
The beach is almost private. There were more people there during weekend (and by more I mean 4-5 families), but during the week there were days when we were only people on the beach.
Other reviewers mentioned that the house is bigger then it appears on the photos and it's absolutely true. The living room is spacious, has a big dining table and enough sitting options for the whole family if you want to relax inside. The lanai is big and has couple of dining tables and outdoor chairs to enjoy outdoor meals and glass of wine at sunsets (which, BTW, are absolutely amazing there).
Kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. There is outdoor grill. There is snorkeling equipment and kayaks in the house. I highly recommend kayaking. The view from the sea is stunning too.
The house is very clean and well kept. Owners, Chris and Tess, are always available , very accommodating and try really hard to solve any probleNadya M.m that might arise.
We had a great time at the house and I'd love to come back and stay there again.
