About Chris & Susan Blodgett
We retired to our dream home here in beautiful Prince Edward Island and look forward daily to amazingly beautiful sunrises east across the bay and gorgeous sunsets to the west - perfect beginning and end to our days all year round. An active couple we love to bike, kayak, walk, do yoga and travel around the island enjoying the sights, music and the people. We love the privacy and peacefulness of our property and nothing beats relaxing on our decks, watching the the osprey and eagles, and seeing the ever-changing light and colours of the sky and bay.
Chris & Susan Blodgett purchased this Guest House in 2015
Why Chris & Susan Blodgett chose South Rustico
Back in 2008 while visiting Prince Edward Island we suddenly saw a future where we could find a piece of waterfront property, in 2015 we build our dream home and finally put down roots and became part of a community after being in the military and constantly moving every few years. We love the view, the privacy and the central location which makes it easy to get to just about any area of Prince Edward Island. Its taken time, ups and downs, lots of planning but we are settled here and it is perfect! Rustico is a special place and we are finally home!
What makes this Guest House unique

100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date.
Hideaway great name
We have had 40 years of vacationing and this is the tops. Cannot even find a minor complaint. Owners are very respectful to their guests. We are returning in 2021
Rustico Hideaway is a little piece of heaven!
Our family of four (2 young boys) loved every second of our stay at Hideaway Rustico. We cannot say enough about the beautiful property, great location (close to so much) and wonderful hosts, Susan and Chris.
We have never travelled to Prince Edward Island before so we weren't sure what to expect, but Susan calmed all of our worries with so many wonderful recommendations. Places to see, things to do, where to eat.
The property is beautifully maintained. Everything was very clean, and as described. A wonderful welcome basket was a great surprise upon our arrival. Everything we needed for beach trips was available to us (towels, toys, bags, blankets). It made travelling with our children so much easier.
My husband and I are already planning our solo trip back!
Thank you for your great comments! We appreciate hearing how much you and the family enjoyed your stay with us and your visit to PEI. We hope to see you again on your solo trip!
Would highly recommend renting from Chris and Susan. The unit was stocked with everything you would need for a lovely visit to PEI. Close drive to beaches, shopping and restaurants. Clean and inviting! Excellent communication with owners and the view is so beautiful. Lovely place to rent.
Thanks so much. You were wonderful guests. Perhaps we will see you again.
Carefree vacation in paradise!
It was a real pleasure to be hosted by Susan and Chris. They have perfected the art of hosting without intruding! Our accommodation was exactly as described or better! The location is very private, being in the garden suite of their house on 14 acres with wonderful ocean front. Every morning we took a walk amongst the wildflowers along the waters edge before breakfast. The unit comes with lots of good information on places to explore and visit on the Island and Susan and Chris were able to fill in details and give us really helpful hints. The kitchen is well stocked and the welcome basket was perfect; enough for breakfast our first morning and other lovely treats too. Very good quality furniture, both inside and on the outside patio. A comfortable, happy stay, home away from home!
Thank you so much Christine for taking the time to tell us what you liked about your stay at our Hideaway. We love hosting guests and hearing they have enjoyed the space & property as much as we do. Thank you. So glad you enjoyed your stay, we enjoyed having you!
Great stay in PEI
We had the privilege of staying at Rustico Bay Hideaway during our trip to PEI in July 2019. The property is extremely clean (even to our standards), very well equipped, and centrally located. Chris and Susan were fantastic hosts - always available to answer our questions and/or provide suggestions of things to see and do. Our family of four especially enjoyed the private outdoor space and yard and the camp fires in the evening. We already miss enjoying our morning coffees overlooking the water and the fishermen at work! We hope to be back soon! Book this place, you will not regret it.
Thank you for your lovely comments - we are so glad you enjoyed your time here. We do truly enjoy hosting such amazing guests as you and your family. Your care & appreciation of our little piece of heaven was evident upon your departure, thanks for taking such great care of our Hideaway and leaving it so nice. We hope to host you again some day.
The accommodation was very comfortable, very clean and very well stocked.
We were so impressed with the lovely view from our accommodation which was well located & very central to may local attractions. Our hosts provided a welcome basket & everything we needed to feel at home. Our stay was a wonderful experience & one we hope to repeat.
Rosemary & Bernie,
It was a pleasure meeting you and we were so glad that you enjoyed the Hideaway and our surrounding property. Glad it was everything you wanted and we hope to see you back again sometime. All the best to you both!

Rustico is the oldest Acadian settlement in Prince Edward Island, and was, in fact, one of the first communities established in "La Nouvelle Acadie" following the Treaty of Paris in 1763. A number of historically significant buildings are found in this contemporary "L'Acadie de L'Ile". They serve as a legacy of the past and commemorate the determination and ingenuity of the Acadians. Several historical sites all within walking distance are: The Doucette House, St. Augustine's Church, The Pioneer Cemetery, Clifford's Lane, and the Farmers' Bank which houses exhibits illustrating the early days of the Rustico Acadians. Less than 5 km away is Rustico Resort Golf, an 18 hole, par 72 golf course, and a short game practice area,.
