Welcome to our three beautifully restored, traditional French cottages on the Maisonneuve domain. In the very heart of the Dordogne, South West France.
Nestled on the side of a valley, all properties offer breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. Set in 3 acres of land, at the end of a quiet country lane, there is no traffic and no noise, allowing you to enjoy the spectacular surroundings without distraction.
All three cottages have been restored to a very high standard, retaining their rustic charm while still offering you all the home comforts you will need for your stay. From the wide oak floors and original stone walls, to the beautifully renovated wooden worktops, each house has bags of charm and character that will make your stay with us truly special.
We haven't met yet and therefor I like to introduce myself. I am Tineke Dufour Liefhebber. Partly I live in France, but most of the year I am in the Netherlands, where I work as company advisor/coach. I am specialised in devellopment of individuals and teams but also in the culture of company and society. When my late husband and I bought this property in 2000, at the start of the new millennium, we really regarded it as buying a breathtaking view which just happened to have some timeless périgourdine stone buildings attached. It took a lot of work to make those buildings habitable, and especially comfortable enough to welcome guests, but we wanted to make a little piece of paradise in south-west France – and so that’s what we set about doing. When my husband passed away four years later, family and friends picked up where he had left off. They helped me to realize our dream. Today, it’s a perfect rural hideaway for peace seekers. For anyone who loves sun, swim, wine, fine cuisine, hiking, birdwatching, communing with nature – or just getting away from it all with a good book! And ofcourse, it is a great place for children as well. Come help me enjoy it. Welcome in paradise!

What guests are telling me:
"Blown away by the view, Little corner in Paradise, On top of the world, Area was magic, We went again, and again, Peaceful oasis, Breathtaking; Crazy dreams of never leaving, Idyllic setting-hard to beat! Exceeded our expectations, Wonderful place, Stunning views."
I only can agree!
First of all the view. And yes the view ofcourse. Located on top of a southfacing hill in the very heart of the Dordogne but not in a hectic touristic area. Private but not isolated it offers best of two worlds. Shops 3km, Lascaux 15km. The peace of this stunning location was a balm for everybody who visited.
There is only one disadvantage. Holidays are much too short to see everything.
Welcome in this little paradise.
„Wir genossen zwei Wochen Ferien in dem sehr sympathisch eingerichteten, familienfreundlichen Cottage „Le Tournant“ mit sehr gut ausgerüsteter Küche. Das Grundstück bietet viel Entspannung fantastische Vögel (Wiedehopf und andere) und absolute Ruhe, die nächste Umgebung sämtliche grossartigen Sehenswürdigkeiten der Dordogne. Wir waren sehr glücklich hier.
The Turn is the largest of three cottages on a beautiful and quiet property. It sleeps up to 10 persons comfortably. Every cottage has its own part of the property and your privacy is assured. The Turn is a home away from home. It has everything you could need or want and is lovingly furnished by the hospitable owner. The kitchen is a dream for foodies and the view from the terrace under the pergola where you enjoy your meal is stunning. The property is situated about 3 kilometers from Thenon, a village that has all the basic amenities. You can visit lots of wonderful old villages and towns within easy driving distance. We had a wonderful stay, toured the region, enjoyed our private pool and cooked lots af great food that we bought at the local markets and prepared 'at home'. Two weeks was much to short really!
A very well appointed fully equipped Gite with all the home comforts available. It was noted that the owners had paid particular attention in ensuring the property was of a exceptional quality. Pool area view overlooking a very picturesque valley was a treat in itself to be had. Would recommend to any couple or family looking for a relaxing time together.
Thank you Tineke. Thank you 'Antoine'. a dream forever.
Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir !!
We can be short; Stunning view, quiet, comfortable house, clean, pleasant welcome. And this all in the deepest heart of the oldest civilization of Europe. We booked again.
Our cooking group went to Le Tournant to celebrate our 10th anniversary. The spacious kitchen provided enough room for a few cooks, and even better: a stunning view while cooking! Only one thing was missing: a sharpening steel. This definitely could not spoil our fantastic time at Le Tournant.
We decided to visit Perigord Noir, because of the many culinary options, including the large truffle market in Sorges. Highly recommended!
Just outside of the village on a private road you suddenly find yourself on top of a hill with the most lovely cottages one can imagine. Enclosed by beautiful trees on three sides, on the other side the valley beneath opens up underneath big skies.
A cosy and grand stay: it is a secluded cottage with all the amenities (wifi, good showers) and space (bigger than our home apartment!) to fully enjoy staying on the grounds.
Enough to see (bring binoculars!), hear (the cuckoo at five in the afternoon, the geese, the cicades and the buzzards) and smell (nice garden).
Even during drizzly days there is plenty to see, we even have to return because we couldn't do everything we wanted in those few days. The grottoes, eating out, visiting farms and castles: so much to do (see the enormous catalogue they have of all regional activities!).
And the village has a nice farmers market, a super market, two boulangers and the best restaurant at the lake.
Perfect for a relaxed holiday with small kids, we recommend this as the ultimate headquarter for discovering a beautiful part of France.
The property is just 2 miles from the sleepy village of Thenon, where you will find a bakery, supermarket, post office and a bank, as well as a variety of restaurants serving traditional local dishes. Despite the quiet surroundings, we are ideally situated for all the main tourist sites. A short drive will take you to the famous medieval town of Sarlat, the caves at Les Eyzies and Montignac, walk the cobbled streets of the ancient Roman city of Perigueux or visit one of the many chateaux near Beynac and Domme. For the more adventurous, take a canoe trip down the beautiful River Vezere or enjoy the views from the skies in a hot air balloon.
And at the end of a long day site seeing, relax in what is quite possibly one of the most tranquil places on earth. Known as the land of 1000 chateaux and the birth place of modern man, the Dordogne is a truly magical place. We hope to see you soon.
