About Stephen & Susan Lamb

Steve Lamb, retired from PNSY and Susan Lamb, retired from non-profit management. Steve is still an active licensed plumber in Maine, with clients in all of York County.

Stephen & Susan Lamb purchased this house in 1975

Why Stephen & Susan Lamb chose Cape Porpoise

I always wanted to live in Kennebunkport and in 1975 I bought this home. 13 years ago, I married my wife and she and I finished the lower level of the house together to accommodate visits from our adult children. Now that they have babies, we find ourselves entertaining them at our lakeside camp, or in Florida during the winters, so the house is available for rentals during the summer and into the fall.

What makes this house unique

Great location with access to all sorts of entertainment and dining, inside and out. Goose Rocks Beach is a short drive away, as is Mother's Beach in Kennebunk. Many people bike in groups on this street and it's fun to watch them outpace each other. The house is in a quiet location and there are some lovely nearby walks. It is an easy, short walk to Cape Porpoise harbor and a 5 minute drive into downtown Kennebunkport.

We could not have had a better family reunion anywhere else!!!

  • 5 of 5

The Lamb's property provided the perfect spot for our family. There were 8 of us, all adults, and this home provided so much space to relax and be comfortable in. We also enjoyed being on the deck right off the kitchen, grilling and sitting around the large deck table. The location provided us opportunities to walk to the neighboring town of Cape Porpoise where there is a large market to pick up staples. Goose Rocks Beach was a very short drive away and we absolutely LOVED that beach. The tidal pools were amazing and at low tide we were able to have a few games of Bocce because it was not a super crowded beach. The Lambs had beach chairs, 2 beach umbrellas, a cooler as well as towels for our use so our day at the beach was as comfortable as possible. We also enjoyed going into Kennebunkport to walk and shop. The Lambs provided the "extras" to make our week a great one. Thank you so much!!

Owner's Response: The Micheli's were top of the line guests, discreetly leaving us some unexpected and lovely "gifts" at the end of their family stay. They were warm folks who made it a joy to rent our house out for their family gathering. Come back anytime!! Stephen & Susan

We had a wonderful vacation with family & extended family. Everything was here to be completely settled upon arrival. Staples dinner & breakfast items. No need to shop until after we were settled in. The Lambs are perfect hosts.

Owner's Response: Thank you Barbara, you were amazing guests. Prosecco will be a delightful addition to Rosh Hashanah dinner for a sweet New Year this week. House left in perfect condition! You and your family are welcome back any summer! Thank you also for the guest book and your kind words in it. We never would have thought of it but it is a perfect addition for the house!

A perfect reunion spot

  • 5 of 5

The house in Cape Porpoise was perfect for my family reunion in 2017. Downstairs, which is a completely walk-out level with family/tv room, a wonderful full bath and two bedrooms is completely private from upstairs which has two more bedrooms, a large private bath, living room, dining and kitchen. Kitchen is nicely outfitted. While there, the owners brought, unsolicited, a large Mr. coffee-type machine, to go with their Keurig, and a gorgeous new BBQ grill. Two decks off the upper level, one outfitted with and umbrella table, 6 chairs and the forementioned grill are lovely for sitting among the trees. One can see neighbors but there is no lack of privacy. Approx. 1/2 mile drive to the center of Cape Porpoise and 2 restaurants, plus Bradbury Bros. Market. 5 miles away on Rte. 1 is a large and lovely Hannaford SuperMarket.

Great location. Perfect for a family. Owners are very accommodating. Highly recommended!

  • 5 of 5

The Lamb property is perfect for two families as there is an upstairs and downstairs. Our granddaughter LOVED being a short drive away from Goose Rocks Beach as it is the most kid friendly beach in the Kennebunkport area. The home is quiet and relaxing and yet a short walking distance away from Cape Porpoise which has great restaurants, a wonderful market and a cafe that parallels Whole Foods with ready made food. The town of Kennebunkport is a short drive away as is Ocean avenue where the Bush compound is located. The house has an outdoor shower so the sand never gets into the house. The Lambs provided beach towels, chairs and umbrellas. Downstairs is a large TV that works well with Netflix and Disney movies. The barbeque on the upstairs patio is also a great addition. I especially appreciated the Lamb's generosity in returning a pair of Cole Haan boots that I inadvertently left under our bed. That was above the call of duty. The only suggestion I would make is to improve the downstairs mattress in the corner bedroom for 70 year old backs, and install a couple more window air conditioners upstairs. Other than that the house was wonderful. I'd return again with our daughter's family. Thank you for your hospitality!

Owner's Response: Thanks Laurie, Your family were all great guests. We really appreciate the feedback! About that queen mattress in one of the downstairs bedrooms, it's a "pillow top" and I'm not crazy about it either, which is why it migrated from our bedroom to a guest room the week after I bought it. I was thinking that some folks like them, but now that you've mentioned it, we will probably replace it with something firmer this fall. Thanks for the input! Steve's already on getting a 2nd AC for the guest room upstairs. You are invited back anytime!

Loved this private getaway

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved the spacious, yet private getaway. The house had a great layout, with two wonderful decks, large kitchen, and two living areas. The outdoor shower with hot water was a great place to rinse after coming back from the nearby Goose Rocks Beach. While the house is very private, it is in a great location in the quaint Cape Porpoise and close to the Kennebunks. The homeowners were very sweet and personal, as they greeted us when we arrived and stocked the kitchen. They even had beach chairs, towels, ice chests and a beach umbrella for us to use, which helped us get straight to the beach. The Maine hospitality really showed through! The house was very clean, and we could hardly think about staying anywhere else. We would recommend this house to anybody, and hope to be able to come back.
