Overview

Chania Villa Rental Photos and Description

Sea And Mountain Views. Every Amenity Incl. Full A/C. Walk To Beach & Tavernas.

Villa Anais is a charming stone villa with a heated pool that is dramatically perched on the top of a hill with absolutely spectacular views of Souda Bay, the Akrotiri Peninsula, The White Mountains and the beach village of Almyrida. The clever design of the villa ensures that all of the bedrooms and the living area lead out onto the balconies and terraces which take in these breathtaking views, with a choice of sun or shade. The elevated position ensures that the villa is often blessed in the summer by cooling breezes that come in off the sea. At night-time, the villa and pool terrace are romantically illuminated and the lights of passing fishing boats and the evening ferry on its way to Athens twinkle from the bay. This beautiful rural setting belies the fact that Villa Anais is only 1km from the wonderful sandy beaches which hold the coveted blue flag for cleanliness, a good choice of amenities and shops, and the pretty seaside tavernas and cafes in Almyrida.

The thoughtful French owners have spent a considerable amount of time creating a very attractive and comfortable home with stylish furnishings. In order to make your stay at Villa Anais completely stress free, traditional features such as honey-blonde stone walls, pillars and arches, and beamed ceilings, pergolas, doors and windows made from fragrant local cypress wood, blend effortlessly with every possible modern comfort including: a fully fitted kitchen with stainless steel appliances such as a ceramic hob, built-in oven, a large fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a microwave oven, a kettle, a coffee maker, and a toaster: fully tiled bathrooms (one equipped with a washing machine); satellite TV, DVD player, WIFI internet access (top-up cards for air-time will need to be purchased), and mosquito screens and air-conditioning units in the bedrooms. For the cooler nights at the start and end of the season the a/c units double up as heaters and there is a fire place and full central heating (though heating oil is not included in the rental price).

Despite the villa’s beautiful and cool interiors, you will probably want to spend most of your time relaxing outside on one of the outdoor balconies, or on the pool terrace whilst taking in the panoramic sea views. The main terrace is dominated by the infinity pool and a poolside cabana that features a kitchenette and a traditional barbeque that is sure to be the centre of culinary activity for al-fresco dining. Very unusually for Crete, the infinity pool is heated to a minimum of 26 degrees centigrade except first thing in the morning and at night when the temperature cannot be guaranteed. The price of the pool heating is included in the rental price at all times except high season when it is not needed, and for long term winter lets.

Long hot summer days spent relaxing in the sun and cooling off in the pool conclude perfectly with glorious sunsets, a glass of chilled wine from the nearby winery, and the delightful aroma of freshly caught fish sizzling away on the barbeque. The 1000m2 property has been landscaped around the villa to provide ample private parking, whilst the rest of the property has been left completely natural with rocks, olive, carob and almond trees. A small selection of flowerbeds have been planted with colourful oleandar, fragrant lavender, Callistemon (bottlebrush) bushes, mesmembryanthum, cacti, and Washingtonian palms.

As hard as it may be to drag yourselves away from the calming ambience at Villa Anais, the surrounding area has a host of incredible sites. An attractive option for those of you who do not want to cook but would like to have a drink with your evening meal is a leisurely stroll of 1km that brings you to the laid back village of Almyrida which has something for everyone. The whole family will want to window shop at the gift and jewellery shops and then dine on appetizing and very fresh local cuisine whilst sitting next to the crystal clear turquoise sea. The more active members of the family may like to windsurf, kayak, sail, or scuba dive during the day, or stay out late whilst enjoying the delicious cocktails and good music at the local cafes. The walk to the village is downhill on the way there and mostly uphill on the return journey - the views do come at a price but you may not notice if you have had a glass or two with dinner! Some of you may prefer to take a taxi back home but do be aware that they are not a cheap option.

Villa Anais is ideal for those wanting to stay in an enchanting stone villa with unrivalled views and a and a relaxing setting with easy access to beaches, shops and tavernas.

About Miss Frankie Miles

Villa Anais is exclusively booked by Frankie Miles. Frankie runs Villas Crete Holidays which is a registered Tourist Office, based in Hampshire, England and Almyrida, Crete. Whilst most travel companies cover many different countries and/or areas of Greece and Crete, we only work in the North West of Crete and we specialise in the Apokoranas region, just east of the historic Venetian town of Chania. The Apokoronas (including the villages of Almyrida, Kalives, Kokkino Horio, Plaka and Gavalohori) has long been a popular destination for holiday makers seeking a typically Greek seaside resort area that has many amenities, but is far removed from brash tourism. The area is renowned for its sandy beaches, crystal clear turquoise water, stunning views of Souda Bay and The White Mountains, excellent tavernas, and many archaeological sites.

Frankie is very hands-on at Villas Crete Holiday. She has worked with rental villas on Crete for more than 18 years and has written the best selling guide book "Crete on the Road". The book includes detailed directions and information to all the major tourist attractions, as well as many hidden sites. Also in the book is the only existing map of the National Highway showing all of the entrances/exits and distances. Frankie’s unrivalled knowledge, love of the island, and attention to detail is now being fully put to use to guarantee a fantastic holiday for our guests. Before Crete, Frankie lived all over the world. She initially came to Crete for 1 season after 12 hectic years in New York working various jobs including: office manager for the band Simply Red; production assistant to the singer Paul Simon; and booking bands such as Guns N’ Roses for The Limelight nightclub. All of this was no match, however, to the fantastic weather and food, the warmth of the Cretan people, and the exquisite natural beauty of Crete. When (very occasionally) not working, Frankie spends time helping the stray animals of Crete.

Why Miss Frankie Miles chose Chania

It is very rare to find a villa on Crete that has any form of pool heating but Villa Anais does offer this wonderful option - and it is included in the rental price. The pools without heating are chilly in the Spring and the Autumn - with the sea usually being warmer than the pool water. The big advantage of renting Villa Anais is that you can hang out at the villa and enjoy your heated pool at any time of the year.

Villa Anais is only 1km from the beaches, shops, and tavernas in Almyrida. It is set on the top of a hill, and therefore has fantastic views, and you can walk downhill to have dinner and a drink (or two) next to the sea without worrying about driving home. Much of the walk back is uphill but hopefully the local wine will have relaxed you to the point that you won't notice!

What makes this villa unique

Villas Crete Holidays truly are the Apokoronas Specialists as unlike other offices, 3 of the 4 members of our expert team live and work here all year round which enables us to always have completely up-to-date information about the villas, local facilities, and tourist attractions. We can help you with all aspects of your holiday including good value, reliable car hire, airport transfers, local information about shops, beaches, tavernas etc, detailed driving directions or walking directions for many routes. We can also arrange private boat hire, private boat trips, private sight-seeing flights, horse riding, water-skiing, big game fishing, guided walking, and guided coach excursions. Our office staff speak English, Greek, and a little French, and have a vast list of local contacts, and our representative in resort also speaks some Italian.

Both the company itself, and Frankie's book have been featured and recommended in articles in major British newspapers including the Sunday Mail and the Sunday Telegraph, as well as smaller publications such as Greece Magazine.

Most importantly, because we handle many villas, in the unlikely event that there is an unforeseen problem at your villa, we can usually offer you an alternative villa (although this cannot be guaranteed in high season).

We have many years experience working in tourism on Crete, and most importantly this experience is specifically related to villa rentals, which needs a very different area of expertise to other types of tourism such as walking holidays, or package holidays for the masses. We use all of our knowledge and local contacts to ensure that your holiday goes off smoothly from start to finish, from first booking the villa that is most suitable for you, to your arrival back home. When you are in resort, we are available during office hours for information, and 24 hours a day should you need medical assistance, yet we remain unobtrusive.

Excellent location for a relaxing holiday, having visited several places on island felt that this was best resort . Villa had amazing views over bay and mountains to the west.

Hire car essential for this villa, last bit of driveway leading to villa is very steep.

Villa and facilities very good, all local staff 1st class as were the local restaurants.

The heart of the village of Almyrida is only 1km from Villa Anais, and is built around a pretty crescent shaped sandy beach, with a small fishing harbour at the eastern end. The beach is very shallow and safe, which is good news if you have children or are not a strong swimmer.

Lining the beach are 11 excellent tavernas, a pizza and pasta restaurant, 6 cafés, 2 bars, 2 bakeries, 2 ice cream shops, 1 jewellery shop, 4 mini-markets, 7 gift shops, a butcher's shop, an off-license, a pharmacy, an organic fruit and vegetable shop with a deli counter, a nail spa and 3 real estate offices. Also in Almyrida there is a scuba diving office, a water sports centre which rents out kayaks, windsurfers and catamarans, a space with pool tables and a variety of games machines, and Villas Crete Holidays for tourist information, private boat hire, boat trips, big game fishing, horse riding, private sightseeing flights in a light aircraft, and organised walking and coach tours.

A few minutes by car from Villa Anais, there are a huge variety of archaeological sites and traditional villages with wonderful tavernas. There is also an interesting selection of small craft centres and museums, including glass blowing in Kokkino Horio, lace makers in Gavalohori, and silk makers in Kalamitsi. For those of you looking for even more activity, the historic town of Chania is only 35 minutes away by car.
