Lands End Cottage is a luxury two bedroomed cottage.
On the ground floor is a spacious double room, with plenty of wardrobe space and en-suite shower room. Next to this is the twin room , again with plenty of space to move and a bathroom with a full sized bath. There is a travel cot available if you need it.
Upstairs there is a fully fitted kitchen including fridge, electric oven, microwave, dishwasher and freezer. There is a full sized table with enough room for everyone to sit and views down the valley from the window.
The living room has TV and plenty of seating, with the feature windows giving views up the valley to the fells in the heart of the lake district.
Outside there is also plenty of space. The cottage has its own garden with views across the valley, though our children may want to use the swing! There is also a wildflower meadow with a huge variety of flora and fauna. In the spring the swallows and swifts come to stay and, if you sit quietly, you may see our local deer coming to nibble on the bushes.
The Rusland Valley is one of the Lake District's hidden gems. Situated between the popular lakes, Coniston Water (4.2 miles) and Windermere (5.7 miles), you are 2.5 miles from the Lakes Aquarium, 5 miles away from Grizedale Forest, with Go Ape and the numerous walking and mountain biking tracks, 5 miles to Hawkshead village and under 6 miles to Tarn Hows. Yet, Rusland is a quiet, peaceful place where you can recharge your batteries and take time to smell the flowers.
There is so much to do in the area and, if you are looking for local walks and bike rides, Rob can get you maps with local routes. If you are unsure going out on your own at all, he is a fully qualified Mountain Leader and could accompany you out on the fell.
Practical points: there is parking for 2 cars (and more if you let us know in advance). We can provide secure storage for bikes, there is a washer-dryer to cope with wet kit and free wifi in the cottage. Currently there is no mobile coverage (but as we write there is a new mast just down the valley which is yet to be switched on!) We do have Wifi, but its not a very strong signal, so don't expect to stream games etc...
We try to use local suppliers and will provide a welcome pack of basic food stuffs for you, so don't worry if you are going to get here a little late. Ifthereis anything in particular youwouldlike, please just email usa couple of days before hand and we will do our best to find it for you.
Shopping can be delivered by Sainsburys or Tesco, there is a small Co-op 15 mins drive away in Hawkshead and the always excellent Booths are just 9 miles away in Ulverston.
