Bright apartment, totally renovated with large living room, bedroom, loft bedroom, small kitchen and large bathroom. Wooden beams, terracotta floors and special touches. Comfortable and quiet with views over the rooftops of the city, the fourth and last floor (no lift), five minutes walk from the train station and the cathedral. Equipped with air conditioning, washing machine, dishwasher and everything you need for a pleasant and comfortable stay.
With just a little bit of TLC this could easily be a 5 star stay. The location was really great, only 5 minutes walk from the train station and very near the Santa Maria Novella. There were really great restaurants on the same small side street and other main attractions like the Ponte Vecchio were only a 10-15 minute walk. The loft area provided a fun place for our 5 year old to hang out, she loved the décor and the ability to have some of her own space but also be able to see us. Water pressure and temp in the bathroom were excellent, which certainly isn't the case throughout Europe in our experience. Roberta was great at communicating throughout and greeted us with a smile upon our arrival.
What wasn't so great?
1. The oven wasn't working, which for a weekend stay like ours wasn't a big deal but would have made a longer stay less than ideal as we would have had to eat out the entire time unless meals were prepped in the microwave.
2. Creature comforts like TV / Wifi. Again, for us this wasn't a big deal since we were only there for a couple of days but a longer stay without a nice TV and Wifi would likely make us stay somewhere else.
3. There is a wood-burning fireplace that we would have loved to take advantage of but no wood stocked and we didn't find any in town for sale, it would be a nice touch to have available.
Also, and this isn't a complaint just a "be prepared"...the apartment is up 4 flights of stairs and there is no lift. Just something to be aware of depending on those in your travel party and how heavy/light you pack.
Overall, we would stay at Roberta's apartment again if we were there for a weekend getaway, but likely find other accommodations for a longer stay. The location was great and because we were out and about the majority of our time the little things like the oven and lack of wifi didn't bug us.
Roberta was great to work with. Very prompt in her communications and responses to our needs during our stay. We loved the top floor unit, though the stairwell was very narrow. Not ideal for those with lots of luggage. I was surprised that the restroom was not stocked with toilet paper; seems like that should be standard. We enjoyed cooking, but some of the knives and utensils could be updated. This was our first VRBO venture and overall it was a very positive experience that we'd repeat again in a heartbeat.
Great experience with owner from our initial inquiries to being met at the front door on arrival. She was very helpful with local information and recommendations. The apartment was great, clean, spacious with modern kitchen and bathroom.
The location was ideal within easy walk from train station and to all sights. We each had a large suitcase that was an effort to get up all the stairs, so recommend two people take one case at a time.
There is an abundance of nice restaurants within easy walking distance.
No Wi-Fi but we did find some restaurants where we were able to connect and send some emails.
There were just two of us, but it can easily sleep 6 with the double bed in bedroom, 2 singles in loft and pull out couch.
Definitely recommend the apartment as a great location for sightseers in Florence.
The property is located just near the centre station which is very convenience for us who traveled by train. The place is clean and comfortable. Although no WiFi connection in this property, but it's the only time my husband watch the World football match, and my daughter went to bed early without concerning about her internet games. The owner is kind and easy to deal with. The only issue is the property located at 4th floor and no elevator there. Thus, if you have a heavy luggage, that might be a little tough. There is a very nice restaurant nearby at the same street which we had 2 nights dinner over there. Great place to stay ! Will definitely recommend to my friends when they travel to Florence.
We stayed in the apartment for two nights in June. From the booking process to arrival, Roberta was an excellent host, and was very quick to respond to e-mails. She was also very accommodating to our travel delays. The apartment was awesome and has great views of Florence. There were three adults and a 7 yr-old child and we had more than enough room. We used the kitchen to cook several meals. The location was unbelievable, easy walk to all attractions. Thanks for the great stay, Roberta.
We rented this apartment based on the reviews and were so happy that it met our expectations! Roberta was always easy and prompt with correspondence. The apartment was clean, spacious and comfortable for our family of four. The building was quiet and felt very safe. The location was perfect, an easy walk from the train station (we parked our car in Scandicci and took the tramvia in). We loved the nearby Plaza Santa Maria Novella with it's open air food market.
Most of the Plazas and coffee shops in Florence seemed to have free wifi so we didnt miss it in the apartment. It was an easy walk to all the sights. If you have big, heavy bags the stairs might be a challenge but we didn't mind them. We would recommend this place and would definitely stay again if we ever came back!
The apartment is located in the district of St. Maria Novella, one of the oldest in Florence. A few minutes walk from Central Station, the main hub for all the links via bus and rail to the airport (Florence and Pisa) and other areas of turistic interest. All major sights are within walking distance, as well as shops and restaurants. In the surrounding streets there are many craft shops and antique shops and do not miss the Officina Profumo Farmaceutica of Santa Maria Novella, a herbal medicine shop that looks like a museum.
