This is my second stay over a three year period to this beautifully restored attic apartment which is immaculately presented and maintained, comfortable and quiet with all the amenities you would need to live as you would at home. There is a charming view from both the kitchen and main bedroom that offers a uniquely perspective on the Madonna del Orto church and canal. The church bells toll at regular times during the day. Arrigo, the host is always extremely welcoming and eager to assist, possessing a wealth of local knowledge to ensure we have the best possible stay.
Our phenomenal experience in Venice was larely due to Arrigo, the apartment owner. He always responded quickly and even sat with us upon arrival to map out best restaurants and site seeing musts. He even went above and beyond to send it all over emaIl that same night of our arrival. This was key to enjoying the most authentic experiences in Venice.
Arriving in Venice we were met by Arrigo who took us to his appartment. The appartment had everything we needed and was situated in Cannaregio, the quieter part of Venice. The property was clean and had air conditioning throughout. Arrigo recommended various places not in the guide books as well as advising us on which tickets to buy when visiting the islands of Murano & Burano. Arrigo also booked a number of restaurants which proved very helpful. All in all a great break in Venice, and we know where to stay when we return.
We arrived in Venice after 4 nights in Paris, where we also stayed in a VRBO. The difference between the two stays were like night and day! Both properties were amazing, but it were the hosts that made the difference!
In Paris, we never met the owner. We met the nanny, who took our money, gave us the keys and left us to our own devices. In Venice, not only did Arrigo meet us (he actually ended up waiting several hours due to me telling him an incorrect arrival time) but then he helped orient us with the great city of Venice. It made all the difference! He gave us suggestions of where to eat, what to see, what to skip and what not to miss. He was exactly the kind of host you want in a foreign city.
Of course, the property is beautiful and we slept better there than we did on the entire rest of our trip. Thank you so very much, Arrigo!
We really enjoyed the appartment and all the suggestions Arrigo gave us for restaurants and activities. He really helped us find spots that are appreciated by locals rather than just packed with tourists. The appartment is very comfortable and in an area of town that is a lot more quiet than where most of the hotels are located but is still very accessible. It was truly charming to walk around along those beautiful canals and discover some of the hidden charms of the city. We plan to return to Venice and I would gladly stay in Arrigo's appartment again.
Casa Zorzi is a gorgeous place to stay in the fantastic neighborhood of Cannaregio, Venice. We were a party of four and loved our beautiful accommodations - especially the balcony view of the canal and Madonna dell' Orto church. Arrigo was the consummate host, and his tastefully designed apartment provided a perfect blend of comfort and style. Arrigo was very responsive to all communications pre and post booking, and gave us great tips on enjoying the city. We will definitely stay at Casa Zorzi for all our future visits to Venice.
Casa Zorzi is located in the quieter, most charming side of Cannaregio District. The house is right next to the magnificent Madonna dell’ Orto gothic church which is one of Venice’s most cherished treasures. Here you can see some of Tintoretto’s important masterpieces. It is only 15 minutes away from Rialto bridge with its colourful fruit & vegetable and fish markets and from the unique Jewish Ghetto.
In the evenings you can enjoy the “osterie” spread along Fondamenta degli Ormesini e della Misericordia, where Venetians meet up for drinks, gossip and some of Venice’s most authentic and best-priced meals.
A short walk from: 2 supermarkets, ATM/bank cashpoint, bakeries, chemist, bookshop, boutiques, restaurants and pizzerias.
