About Tim Bertrand
Owners Tim & Cara Bertrand are from nearby Sturbridge, MA and spend their summers on Lake Congamond. We'll always be nearby on the weekends for any assistance needed, as we also own a home just two doors down! Tim grew up in nearby, Suffield, CT - and always dreamed of owning a home on Congamond. It is a very special place, with lots to do! Cara is a writer of young adult books and Tim is an executive in the software industry. They have a young daughter who also enjoys the lake very much!
Tim Bertrand purchased this House in 2014
Why Tim Bertrand chose Southwick
The minute we walked into this home, we were sold. You walk through the front door, and around the corner, an "infinity pool" that is the lake, catches your eye. The home has all the room you need for privacy & to get away, yet is cozy, modern and crisp. In addition - the lake offers three totally different experiences- North Pond, quiet and serene, Middle Pond - which is full of activity, water skiing, jet skiing, a sand bar for swimming and relaxing - and South Pond a large circular body of water that is a cross between North & South pond. The three ponds are connected by tunnels and are 11 miles long around the perimeter.
What makes this House unique
One of the best things about where our home is situated is that it has given us the best of all worlds. We can walk to breakfast, lunch and dinner if we wish - all within .2 miles from the house! We love the quiet & peaceful evenings on North Pond, yet just a quick walk or boat ride to the busy & bustling Middle Pond. Into Live Music? Boat or take a short walk to Louie B's. Need something from the grocery store? A 5 minute drive. Interested in exploring the area? Lots to do - only 15-20 minutes away - a Zoo, the Basketball Hall of Fame, Movies, a Gym, 2 golf courses and more!

The only downside about our entire stay which was otherwise just lovely was that it was not disclosed that two unknown adults and 2 children would also be allowed access through the rental driveway and into the back yard completely unannounced. They walked into the back yard several times both in the day/night time. We had no idea who they were because they just showed up in two cars with coolers and bags and walked into the yard like they owned the property. This was just as we were outside enjoying the deck/yard/dock. Very unexpected and uncomfortable as we assumed we had the property inside and out to ourselves. The property was otherwise exactly as described and the lake was beautiful.
Sorry to hear about this Nancy - the gentleman who rents the dock let a friend borrow his boat and apparently they thought this was “ok”. I let them know it is not!!
We loved everything about this lake house
The house was perfect for our group ranging in ages from 2 years old to 95. Plenty of space, pretty view, warm clean lake water to swim in. There is mud and vegetation as you walk into the water but with a float you can go over it and get to nice swimming spots.
We had a lovely time and hope to go back again next summer.
famiy get away
Loved the fully equipped/modern kitchen and the lakeview from the sofa. There are plenty of beds and extra linen/blankets in the closet. The only negative was that we planned to cook all 3 meals per day at the rental and so we showed up with alot of groceries for our 5 night stay. However, we had to first clean out the fridge to make space. There were about 8 quart sized half consumed beverage bottles, 3 half used containers of butter, opened salsas, and other items such as opened bags of shredded cheese. We had hoped to just fill the fridge with our items but we first had to empty and wash food/beverage containers before placing them in the recycling bin. We still enjoyed our stay very much. Aside from the fridge issue, the house is very clean and the owners are very easy to communicate with and easy to reach. Once I settled in, the kitchen had everything I needed for the 14 meals I cooked during my stay. We look forward to staying there again.
Loved the house, lake, and Tim!
My family and I had a wonderful 3 week stay in this lake house. The living space is open and the house feels bigger than it is. The wood floors and updated kitchen are awesome and the finished basement is a huge plus! Tim supplies a lot of the necessities we needed and there were stores close by for the things we needed to pick up. Tim was very accommodating and made our stay even better. North Pond is small and quiet. It is a great place to hang on the boat, pull the kids around on the tube, and relax by at night. There isn’t really a place to swim in front of the house due to the docks, boats, and vegetation but we did plenty of swimming in other parts of the lake. Overall we had an amazing stay and would stay here again!
Very good my son enjoyed his stay.
Very nice owner, clean house, nice location
Lots of room-beautiful view!
Good experience! More room than expected. Excellent kitchen. Lots of fresh towels provided! Beautiful view of the lake!
Only negatives—ran out of propane and the charcoal for the backup grill was wet. Towels hung by the bathroom sink smelled musty very quickly.
