Outstanding Kona area accommodations!

My husband and I enjoyed a near perfect 24th anniversary trip to the Kona area, and Rita's condo. This is an end unit which is great to start with, but the upper location and view, beautiful furnishings and fully stocked kitchen all just made it hard to beat. A great little grocery store, Long's drugs and various shops were a nice (albeit steep) walk away. That just made you "earn" your MaiTai more, after a round trip. The complex location is perfect, a step outside main Kona, and at a great crossroads to get around the island easier. We loved our morning coffee on the patio, looking at that view. Gorgeous. The unit next door is a full time resident and we hardly knew when she was home. Can't recommend enough, this is just a really, really nice place. Rita, you were so kind and easy to work with, Mahalo.

She said you left the townhouse so clean when you left. We always appreciate that. And it makes her job a lot easier. Beautiful Location

We made our first trip to Kona over Christmas. We were very happy with the townhouse. It was spacious, clean, nicely decorated and well stocked! The grounds are beautiful and the unit has an amazing view of the ocean. Sunsets from the lanai were breathtaking! The townhouse is in a great location. Quiet and secluded, but a short walk from a shopping centre that includes a grocery store and Long's. Also a short walk to the best snorkelling beach in Kona (10 minutes) and a quick drive to Magic Sands Beach. Rita was great to deal with. She was very helpful and made the process simple and stress free. We hope to get back to this piece of paradise!

Beautiful vacation

We were in Kona for the Ironman and this was a great place to stay. The townhouse was great. The kitchen was very well stocked with everything we needed. I forgot to get our coffee ground but no worries Rita had one! Every meal we had in the house we ate outside on the lania with the view of the ocean! I was surprised and pleased to see that Rita provided shampoo and conditioner. The location was awesome 4-5 miles from the village and a 1/2 mile from a great grocery store. Even before we arrived I was impressed with Rita's communication and the great suggestions she offered! The place was very clean as well. What more can I say, we loved it. Thanks Rita

Great experience

We loved our stay at the condo. The condo is decorated beautifully, is very clean and its in the perfect location. Rita was very easy to work with and very organized. When we return we would love to stay here again.

Be Aware

I am writing this review to give renters questions to ask when booking so that they know exactly what they are getting. We have stayed at many vrbo rentals on the Big Island and never had an experience like we had renting this unit. The unit is a great unit in terms of space and location. Rita is kind to work with and responds to e-mails and calls. The pool area is clean and lovely and people around the pool are very friendly. We arrived to a unit that was in desperate need of a complete renovation. The furniture is worn and dirty as are the walls, bedding and towels. Although the kitchen is fully stacked most items are ready to be replaced. We had to deal with initially no proper beach towels and thread barren stained bath towels, broken garborator, toilets that did not work properly, broken bbq (my husband had to go to Lowes to buy a new one for the unit),garage door that did not work and broken blinds. The appliances including dishwasher and washer and dryer need to be replaced. Vacation time is precious to our family as it is to most families and we did not enjoy having to constantly wait around for repair people. Rita assured us that she was going to be visiting the unit to take care of all these things so hopefully they did get addressed. Once some TLC is poured into this unit it will be great but until then I would ask a lot of questions before renting this unit.

Owner's Response: I appreciate Wendy's comments and as soon as I was made aware I took action. Please notice a review was posted just 2 weeks prior to her visit that rated it Best VRBO Experience with 5 Stars. We always try to keep our unit in top condition so when I heard the complaints, First I let my house cleaners go, who had worked for us for 5 years (they were good in the beginning). When I arrived back on the Island I found that they had taken all of the new sheets and towels that I had purchased for the unit and left old ragged linens from other units. They weren't cleaning the BBQ nor informing me of any problems. I hired a new cleaning person that went right out and purchased all new beach towels for Wendy's family. I purchased all new bedding, including sheets, blankets, pillows and comforters. We did have problems with the toilets and I had had repair people there 3 times before they were fixed. The toilets flush by pulling a knob up in the center of the tank which kept breaking . Not a good design to start with. In Hawaii everything is shipped in so you can't always run up to the store and get a part. Many times they have to be ordered, so when the chain device on the garage door broke, it had to be ordered and took 2 weeks to arrive so it could be fixed. So sorry all of these things happened at once to Wendy & Peter. We did not want to bother them any more than we had to so as soon as they left, we replaced the dishwasher and the washer/dryer. We painted, replaced the screen on the screen door where a child had walked through. The sofa and cushions are micro fiber so they were all easy to wash and turned out nice. We also bought a new twin bed and added it to the large 2nd bedroom upstairs. So that room now has a queen & twin. Terri my new cleaning lady is a fanatic about cleaning and is doing a great job. I even hired her for our home. This unit was built in 2006 but in Hawaii nothing lasts very long. Within the last year, we have replaced the living room carpet with tile, replaced the air conditioner, lanai furniture, linens, dishwasher, washer/dryer/ TV and BBQ. And repaired all mentioned above. Please note the 5 star Review on Feb 27 after some of the work was done. We worked between our guests arrivals & departures and had no more complaints, but many many thank you's. We hope those reading this will come visit and enjoy our beautiful unit. Rita

Beautiful Sunset

When we arrived at the home, it was about time for the sun to set, so we got a beautiful welcome after a very long trip. It was like we had arrived at home. It was very well stocked with the essentials you need in the kitchen including a brand new coffeemaker. Rita was great to work with, and she went to great lengths to make sure everything was inviting. It made me wish we had more time to stay on the big island... next time! When I return, I will certainly stay here again, and I would recommend to anyone.
