Lovely ancient 13th century farmhouse in the gently rolling hills covered with vineyards, olive groves and woods. Completely restored, 6 holiday apartments (for 2, 4 and 6 pers.) have been made from the original building. The house is part of a farm which produces excellent 'Chianti' wine and olive oil (these products can be purchased by the guests at a very good price). The property is situated in a sunny and peaceful area, with very nice views over the typical 'chianti' countryside.
About Chianti area:
The territory of Chianti runs on pretty much a north/south axis from Florence down to Siena. It is the famous land of vineyards and hilltop towns, with Greve, Radda and Castellina forming a triangle in the very heart of Chianti.
The area is bordered to the west by the Florence - Siena Autostrada, passing first by San Casciano Val di Pesa, the largest town in the area, and on to Poggibonsi. However, the 'classic' route is via the 'Chiantigiana', the N222, which winds up and down through the hills and valleys of this most renowned area.
Chianti is without a doubt the most well known of all Italian wines.
There may be only one denomination - Chianti D.O.C.G - but there are many different styles, ranging from light Beaujolais-style quaffing wines to structured, complex wines with enough backbone to reward ageing and maturing-
About Chianti area:
The vineyards of Chianti are scattered over much of central Tuscany; the Classico zone begins northwards of Siena and reaches most of the way to Florence. This zone generally produces the best wine.
