Why Ray Wick chose Manhattan

This private, full-floor apartment is located in a private Owner occupied townhouse, not a large anonymous apartment building. Although you will be self-sufficient in your apartment, the Owner is always available to you for whatever you may need during your stay: tips on sites and getting around NYC, arranging taxi service, emergency repairs, restaurant advice. Much like a private concierge. The townhouse is safe and secure with multiple entry locks, fire & safety systems, well-lighted entry and stairways, outside video security. Your family can be assured of privacy, safety, cleanliness and convenience. The neighborhood is served by 5 Subways with the nearest only a 2 block, 2 minute walk. All destinations are only a few minutes away.

What makes this apartment unique

Your private townhouse apartment will make you feel like your are returning home at the end of each day. Spacious enough to spread out and relax with all the conveniences of home: a fully equipped kitchen, high-def cable TV, free W-Fi, and, of course, big comfortable beds. Live your holiday like a successful New Yorker.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Great vacation apartment in a convenient and safe Manhattan neighborhood!

Our family of five was comfortably accommodated in this one bedroom apartment. Close to the subway, coffee shop, restaurants and grocery, we felt safe at all times. The one-way street was quiet and the apartment provided everything we needed after a long day of sight-seeing. Ray did a great job of acclimating us to the city, giving us advice for using the subway and suggesting points of interest that we may not have considering exploring. I would definitely recommend this rental to friends/family whom are considering a trip to NYC.

Comfort and friendliness in Upper Manhattan

  • 5 of 5

Myself and my Mother spent six wonderful days at Ray's comfortable spacious and well located brownstone apartment. The area has everything...its predominantly Hispanic with a mix of students from the nearby Columbia University...everybody is so friendly ..chatting and smiling outside busy shops and cafes...we never felt anything other than safe walking around the area both a night time and during the day...the location is as Ray had said a short subway ride from downtown Manhattan so essentially you have the best of both worlds and always have the retreat and comfort of returning to your apartment after a busy day shopping or sightseeing around the city...I've stayed in a hotel downtown before but never again...the sense of living in a living breathing community is more enriching and leaves one with greater sense of having experienced a city. The local Grange restaurant has to be visited (Great Burgers and fine craft beer with lovely friendly staff) ..Cafe was our daily breakfast haunt (simple delicious breakfasts and homemade muffins to die for!..great coffee and hot chocolate too and yes, more friendly staff)...nearby River side park is a must..I ran through it each morning and alongside the Hudson River and down to the northern tip of Central park....picturesque and peaceful and safe..General Grants memorial building can be seen near the entrance to the park and is worth a evening I went to the Smoke Jazz club (2751 Broadway) where you can enjoy live Jazz and eat good food at same time (be sure to phone and book as it sells out)...So...yes, I would highly recommend this Apartment and will certainly return for more of the same...Ray was a fantastic host ...meeting us at the Apartment showing us around and giving us all the information on the area including a useful map. On our departure he arranged a Cab to JFK and looked after our Bags while we enjoyed our last day in New York...10 out of 10 :)

Comfortable, spacious townhouse with great host.

  • 5 of 5

We had a really comfortable stay in this lovely townhouse. Ray was the perfect host - there to greet us and give us all the information we needed for the apartment and how to get around the area and New York. He was interesting to listen to and interested in our day to day trips but never intrusive. He very generously let us have a late check out as there was no-one following us into the apartment which was greatly appreciated as we had an evening flight. The map provided was well creased from use by the end of our 7 day visit! It was good to stay in a local neighbourhood and experience a flavour of the real New York. The apartment is so well placed for the subway - just a short walk away. We got a $31 7 day Metro card which was well worth it and used it for all our journeys including the tramline to Roosevelt Island - worth doing. All the people we met were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed Trufa restaurant (twice) just at the bottom of the street on Broadway - it maybe doesn't look much from the outside but the food is delicious and reasonable and the staff are very friendly. We also liked the Whole Foods market at Columbus Circle shops and Zabar's food store/deli at 80th and Broadway - 2 blocks down from Barnes and Noble!

It was hot - very hot for the 2 of us used to Scottish summers - and it was so good to be able to return back to a lovely, spacious and comfortable apartment. Thank you Ray for all your input.

Fab Apartment, Vibrant/Easy Location, Great Host

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay in Ray's lovely TownHouse Apartment. The apartment is located in a beautiful brownstone building in Hamilton Heights - a vibrant neighbourhood with a real taste of ordinary living in NYC - but with easy and fast connections to any part of the city. We loved how easy it was to get anything that we needed for our stay - and to wander out for dinner each evening to the many diverse and tasty local restaurants.

The apartment itself is spacious and charming - with everything you need for a holiday stay. It felt very much like home - with nice personal touches and artwork as well as all the practical things - including a very comfortable bed! It was 84 degrees during our stay so we particularly welcomed the aircon in the bedroom which worked perfectly. The apartment was spotlessly clean and had cupboards full of extra towels, linen, cleaning things and loads of storage space.

Ray was a terrific host - with really clear instructions right from the first contact. He met us at the apartment to check us in and gave us a quick table top tour of the neighbourhood and easy ways to see the city. "The Map" - kindly handed over by Ray on our first evening - became our trusty guide to everywhere! We had a ridiculously early flight on our return and Ray was bright and breezy at 4.30am - ready to see us off, having organised a local cab for us in advance.

We would highly recommend the apartment and Ray (!) and we will look forward to staying again in the future.#

Meals at the Community Food & Juice Café on Broadway (breakfast/brunch or dinner - yum!); Bono Trattoria and Fumo Pizza for a light supper with great service; Kitchenette (a unique soul food café on Amsterdam Ave) and the garden at the High Line Hotel for a snack and a drink.

We had fun with pool day passes at the Beach and the McCarren Hotel (given the amazing hot weather) and we particularly enjoyed the Design Museum - great innovation and a lovely garden

Fantastic, Perfect, Brilliant

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was well appointed and well presented - perfect for our visit. It was really comfortable and well furnished. It is very well located in an excellent neighbourhood, close to the subway and a perfect base for a trip to NYC. Excellent restaurants nearby, and Ray was really helpful on hand if we had an issues. And his welcome and introduction to NYC, tips, advise and the map were all perfect - invaluable to help us make the most of our visit. We had a great trip, enjoyed by all of us, and the apartment made it perfect. Thank you :-) xx

Lovely clean and comfortable accommodation

  • 4 of 5

My wife and I with our 14 year old daughter had a lovely 4 night stay in this apartment. Ray was very helpful and gave us some great tips on getting around New York. Getting the main subway line is only a short walk away from the apartment and it takes approximately 40 mins to get to Battery Gardens. Would recommend staying at this apartment rather than staying in a hotel as you get a feel of the real New York.

Wonderful townhouse in Hamilton Heights

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in Ray's townhouse for 4 nights. It is located in the Upper West Manhattan/ Harlem area. We were pleasantly surprised to see how roomy this unit was! It is very open, bright and comfortable! We like to stay in neighborhoods and check out the local cafes, stores, etc. This area is very quiet and the people are friendly. The subway is just a 2-3 block walk, and you can get anywhere in New York City fast. Ray is a gracious owner, and lives in the downstairs unit, so was always available to answer questions, and give good advice. He was so helpful with questions about the neighborhood, good places to go, and how to get around the city. Our trip to New York City was such a fun and busy time. I looked forward to coming back to this townhouse every day to relax and unwind. Thanks Ray! 😊😊
