About The Owner

Jimmy is design consultant based in London . Judy is Irish ,originally from Northern Ireland but settled

in Dublin. We mostly live in Dublin. We are both interested in interior design and really loved designing our old farmhouse in Teulada. We visit Teulada regularly and love the peace and quiet .

The Owner purchased this farmhouse in 2007

Why The Owner chose Cagliari

We are romantics! We sailed around Sardinia and just loved the Island and the people . We then returned for a cycle trip of the South West and were even more impressed. We spotted a house near Teulada marina , thinking this would be a good place to leave a boat . Later we then returned on a house search and amazingly the house opposite the one we had photographed was for sale . A years renovation turned out to a great experience with local architect, builders and the friends we had made from the purchase . We feel very lucky to have such a beautiful Casa in an amazing setting.

What makes this farmhouse unique

We fell in love with the authentic style of the old farmhouse . The amazing setting in the green valley looking at Monte Idu where we watch the sunset with a G&T or local vino on the terrace . The silence except for sheep bells , bird and animal noises . The donkey in the field by the old church keeps us amused talking to his friends in other fields ! The fact that there is no light pollution means that the sky is a wonder at night . (There is a phone app which tells you what the stars are called) The fact that we can not see any other houses makes for a totally private and romantic setting .

Quiet, restful, comfortable stay

  • 5 of 5

The garden and location exceeded our expectations and the verandah was huge and comfortable with lots of sitting out and dining areas. We loved the pool. We were there when the other apartment was empty, and it was lovely to have it to ourselves

Perfect for relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

The property was easy to find (we checked it out on Google street view first), excellent location, clean and very well presented.

The nearby coast is beautiful, fantastic coves and beaches, with excellent snorkelling. The coast road is also great for cycling.

Overall we had a fantastic week relaxing.

This villa is ideal for those who want to relax and explore the natural side of the island, and comes highly recommended.

Property and location are excellent.

  • 5 of 5

My only niggle about the property is that it wasn't made clear to us that the name on the gate is 'Tuerra'. We spent about an hour driving up and down the track looking for 'Casa Canne! Perhaps this is something the owners should think about. Otherwise brilliant.. Ideal for chilling by the pool and on the terrace. Beautiful location and very private. Accommodation very comfortable, clean and well equipped. Area is a backwater.. Tourism very low key. Virtually everyone you encounter will either be local or Italians from the mainland and hardly anyone speaks English. A smattering of Italian or a phrase book essential. However, all this is a definite plus. It's refreshing to be in southern mediterranean and not be surrounded by other Brits and North Europeans.

Teulada is only 5 mins. and you can get just about everything you will need there. Excellent market on Monday mornings worth a visit. However, shops dotted about in very confusing way and better supermercato in Sant Anne Aressi 15\20 mins. Beaches at Porto Tramatzu and Porto Pino are best in area but organised - you pay to park, sunbeds and facilities etc. Great if you have kids but if you want something more 'au naturale' just drive along coast road - 20 mins. from Casse Canne is excellent small beach with decent sand and easy parking and access. Best best for outings are Sant Antioco (50 mins) and Iglesias (75 mins). The drive north of Iglesias through the mountains to Arbus is pretty stunnning.

As described & a local experience

  • 5 of 5

I will write this review in two parts, one about the house and property, two about the area:

The house was very much as pictured on the photos, recently upgraded with all things functioning and in order. We arrived to a clean and welcoming vacation retreat. The water pressure in the showers was good, no problems with hot water. The kitchen fridge was cold, stove worked great. There was a good set up of dishes and utensils available for us to make full meals. The building structure was ever so slightly on the damp side, sort of the feeling you get in a stone house, but not so much as to cause any discomfort. A pleasant surprise was to find a washer and dryer available for our use. There's also a clothes line in the back of the house, clothes dry very fast. We were there end of May/early June, so about 1-2 weeks too early to really enjoy the pool as the water was a bit too cold for my taste. But it was still nice to sit out on the deck. There are mosquitoes in the area so bringing a bug spray is a good idea, but we were careful about keeping the doors closed so not a problem in the house.

About the area: this property is a 5 min drive S. from Teulada, the nearest town. There are a couple good but inconsistent restaurants in Teulada. There are also several grocery stores, they all close in the afternoon hours for siesta! The best local feature by far is the beach at Porto Tramazu, which is only a 5 min drive S. from the property. It was the best beach we found within an hours drive, better sand & less busy than Chia, and was beautifully equipped with a full service and very clean cafe / lounge chair / day boat rental facility. (There's another area on the same beach where you can lay your towel free of charge). We were told this cafe is seasonal & shuts in the winter. The owners were so nice and we met several families on the beach front who come there yearly. There's a small camp ground near by. FYI - W. of this beach spot is military base and can be reached by boat only, and just on weekends. So boating to stop on beaches is restricted.

5 min W. of the property off the main rd from Teulada is a guest house where you can try a feast of local specialties: roasted pork, goat meat and a selection of pasta, (not menu based, all is served to all diners at the same time). Gigi, the owner at the beach cafe called ahead on our behalf as it is reservations only. There were mostly local diners there, a large group from the local military and a few couples.
