|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
The Old Dairy is a fine traditional Cornish cottage just a few minutes walk to one of our best beaches at Gwenver. It has a modern kitchen and cosy living room with a lovely fire. Upstairs there are three bedrooms, a double and two twins.
Lie in bed in the main bedroom and look out to sea!
New Forge is a fabulous modern and luxurious cottage that's loved by couples for romantic breaks as well as families getting away from it all. There are lots more pictures and film see as well as up to date calendar and booking on our website thecornishway.co.uk.
The space is most generous with a 35 foot long living space and big bedrooms, even a studio in the garden if anyone needs to work (ask me about it).
We completed the cottage in 2011 to a very high standard and with good appliances - many guests who keep coming back like to consider it their luxury holiday home.
But if you fancy something more adventurous there is a good surf school down the road, sea fishing trips or diving, or bring your bike and tackle some of the hills that make West Cornwall such a beautiful place.
The cottage has everything you're likely to need, whether you want to cook at home, barbecue, or maybe sample some of the great restaurants of St Ives, Penzance or The Beach in Sennen Cove.
If you're looking for a quiet break, or you want to try cycling in Cornwall, surfing, twitchers, or just lovers of the wonderful scenery.
We have some of Britain's best beaches within a short drive - some just a walk away. You can swim, surf or fish off Gwenver (Gwynver), and that's just down the lane. My favourite is Porthcurno and its neighbour Penvounder, probably 5 miles from here.
We're a long way from London, but our culture is alive and thriving. The Minack Theatre is a few miles away. The modern gardens of Tremenheere are attracting more and more people wanting to experience the James Turrell spaces there, even though it's not officially open yet. The Kneehigh, Miracle and other theatre companies put on stunning out door events, and our festivals including Golowan, Lafroda and Montol demonstrate that life on the edge is a fun experience.
West Cornwall is a magical place, steeped in mystery from its ancient past, evidence of which is seen in the fogous, burial tombs and remains of villages such as Chysauster and Carn Euny.
Our many tin and copper mines, ancient and modern helped us gain UNESCO World Heritage status, and you can go underground at nearby Geevor, or see the oldest working Cornish Beam Engine at Levant.
The Cape Cornwall Golf Club is a short drive and is a wild cliff top course.
Kelvin grew up nearby and was determined that we would have our base here in Cornwall. It started with the upstairs of the granary which we later converted to create Myn Tea.
Kelvin Collins purchased this cottage in 1999
We visited many places before spending a whole afternoon with the owners of the granary that was later to become Myn Tea. When what is now New Forge came on the market we utterly stretched ourselves to buy it.
Although it was extremely basic back then, we knew immediately that this is where we wanted to live. Work takes Amanda around the country, but Tregiffian has always been home. Just being here lightens the load of everyday life and helps you see things with a new perspective.
It says a lot that the people we bought from moved away for ten years, but have now moved back here and live just across the courtyard.
We are right at the edge of Britain and it can be utterly calm, yet at other times wild in the extreme. The very contrasts in the weather, no matter what it throws at you, are truly good for the soul and leave you feeling more alive.
Whether you stay at New Forge or Myn Tea next door or The Old Dairy across the courtyard, you'll have wonderfully comfortable accommodation, far reaching views, good gardens and you could spend a relaxing holiday here without leaving the property. But when you venture out you have the best of Cornwall with its cliffs and beaches right on your doorstep.
The property is lovely, a classic Cornish cottage but beautifully finished. It exceeded our expectations and the log burner was great. Kelvin was great from initial enquiry, to booking, to the after care when we had come home. The wine on arrival was very much appreciated. A great week. Thank you.
From booking to leaving this lovely cottage, Kelvin was attentive to our every need with good tips on where to go, what to do and where to eat. The cottage was clean, beautifully decorated and in the perfect spot with a short walk (albeit steep) down to lovely Gwenver beach. Sennen Surf Club were fantastic for the uninitiated and we had the most amazing lunch at Rick Stein's restaurant at Porthleven. The only downside (particularly for our two teenagers) would be the lack of wifi, but this was a minor problem considering everything there is to do in the area and taking into account the cottage's great DVD collection!
The Old Dairy is a wonderful place to stay. Inside is very well furnished and very clean. Space is good too. We took our four teenage girls with us and we had ample space. The large log burner / fire in the lounge is perfect for a cosy night in if the evening is cool. Location is also fantastic. Five minutes drive to the popular Sennen Cove but more importantly only ten minutes walk to the beautiful Gwenver Beach. What a place to see the sun go down, have a barbeque and get engaged. Yes, we really did !! Kelvin, the host did us proud. Advised us of all the local goings on, kept in touch through the week and left us a couple of bottles of wine on our arrival. All in all, it was a fantastic week, and we cannot wait to go back. Chris, Lynsey and Gang.
A well presented homely place to stay whilst exploring the area with a friendly helpful approach to managing the property from the people managing the property.
The area is stunning with an amazing almost private beach near by & dog friendly.
We will be back again and highly recommend this cottage.
Just home from a lovely week in 'The Old Dairy' and how I miss you already.
A welcome bottle or two of wine was awaiting for us on our arrival which was a lovely surprise.
The cottage was immaculately clean and is clearly well loved by its owners. We absolutely loved our stay there. The Old Dairy is located in a beautiful, quiet area with lots of adventures for you and your four legged friends right on your doorstep.
We enjoyed our lovely long walks in the day but soo looked forward to coming back for lazy evenings in front of the woodburner with our beverages, just pure relaxation., also we were very lucky to see some glorious sunsets too.
'The Old Dairy is a ideal cottage to relax and unwind, if it had arms they would be wrapped around you and you would feel the love in this place, what more could you want.
Thank you very much for hosting us, we will be back X
The property is located in a rural farm setting above the wild beauty of Gwynver bay. The white sandy beach was almost deserted even though it was very good weather. The geology of the area is fascinating and the coastal walks spectacular. Nearby you can walk to Sennen Cove which has a good beach bar / restaurant and you can walk to Lands End about 3 miles away. We also explored the many ancient , mystic sites of the area and the old tin/copper mines. At the end of the day, we came back to our lovely well equipped cottage, lit the log fire and watched the sun set. Great for nature lovers, adventurous families, teens, history and culture anyone who needs to remember what life is really about.
These gorgeous cottages are just a short walk from the beautiful surfing beach of Gwenver, which is a quieter beach around the corner from popular Sennen Cove. The busy towns of St Ives and Penzance are both a short drive, and some of the best beaches in the country are nearby.
If you're into walking, cycling, surfing, you're a twitcher, art lovers or just looking for a great self catering holiday should consider The Cornish Way for your next break in West Cornwall.
It's designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and makes an amazing location for family holidays or romantic breaks all year round.
The mining areas of Cornwall are UNESCO World Heritage sites and offer an insight into the life of our ancestors.
This countryside inspired such authors as Daphne Dumorier, Rosemund Pilcher and more recently Patrick Gale. The art colonies nearby are famouse from such great as Barbara Helpworth, Stanhope Forbes and even Mark Rothcoe.
The modern cottage was completed to a high standard in 2011 and offers every comfort, whereas The Old Dairy has all the charm of a traditional Cornish cottage.
We have properties sleeping two to eight, or up to 17 if you take three! Each offers everyone enough space to have their own quiet time.
If you plan your shopping well - or have it delivered, you might not even use your car for the duration of your stay.
