A spacious modern, family house set in 2 acres of mature gardens and open farmland overlooking the Dordogne valley and a thirty minute walk down a quiet back lane to the medieval village of Limeuil.

The accommodation is ideal for a large family or two families holidaying together: two double bedrooms, two twin-bedded rooms, two bathrooms, separate WC, spacious lounge, large dining room, fully equipped kitchen plus an additional seating area upstairs provide everything you need for a relaxing holiday with family and/or friends.

The spacious lounge has comfy leather sofas and easy chairs, a large flat screen TV with UK Freesat, Wi-Fi, DVD and CD player and doors opening onto the south-facing terrace.

An additional seating area upstairs also has a TV with UK Freesat, plus DVD & video players, a selection of DVDs, videos and PlayStation games, plus family games and books. An ideal place for the kids to relax!

The large dining room comfortably seats 8, while the terrace has additional dining facilities for up to 10 persons providing the perfect option for outdoor eating with stunning views across the valley. This large covered terrace, overlooking the pool, is an ideal place to barbecue, eat and relax and offers the perfect place to escape from the direct sun. Steps lead down to the private, unfenced 10 m x 5 m pool and sheltered sunny patio with flowering borders, 8 sun-loungers and parasols. An additional patio area at the rear of the house provides an alternative eating/seating area or a spot to play table football.

The fully equipped kitchen has a full sized electric fan oven with gas hob, large fridge-freezer, dishwasher, microwave and coffee maker plus ample crockery, glasses & cutlery. There's also a large selection of cookware, utensils and serving dishes.

To make your stay easier we also provide some of the basic foodstuffs: tea, coffee,sugar, olive oil, spices, condiments, plus all cleaning materials.

The downstairs bathroom comprises a full size bath with shower over, bidet and wash basin. The toilet is separate. The very large bathroom also houses the washing machine and clothes dryers. Laundry soap and softener are provided. The upstairs bathroom has a walk-in shower, hand basin and toilet. Toilet rolls, hand soaps and sani-bags are provided.

The downstairs bedroom opens onto the rear garden and is fully furnished with a king size bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables. The upstairs east bedroom is very spacious and can easily accommodate a cot. It is fully furnished with a king size bed, bedside tables, chest of drawers and wardrobe. The south bedroom has two single beds, bedside table and chest of drawers. The spacious west bedroom has two single beds, wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside tables.

The two acre garden containing fruit trees, formal flower beds and a very large open grass area is unfenced and borders onto farmland, with views across the valley. There is plenty of room for ballgames or quiet shady places to get out of the sun.

An adjoining games room houses a full size table tennis table, pool inflatables and a selection of outdoor games.

On your arrival you will receive a welcome pack of wine, soft drinks, milk, butter, jam, croissants and snacks, leaving you with the opportunity to relax, eat out at a local restaurant that evening then think about the food shopping in the morning. If you are arriving late and don't want to eat out we are happy to get some shopping for you.

What is there to do in the area? If you don't want to get back in the car just relax around the pool or walk down into the village and enjoy a drink by the river, while the children play in the shallows. Explore the winding lanes of Limeuil with its medieval houses and artisan shops. Visit Limeuil chateau and take in the panoramic view across the valley.Take one of the many signposted walks through the countryside. Hire a kayak and take a leisurely paddle down the river, you choose how far you want to go and they drop you off then it's down to you how long it takes. Or spend every day doing something adventurous or going somewhere different.

This area of France is steeped in a history that goes back to the days of cavemen, and within a short drive you will find underground caves, pre-historic rock dwellings, formal gardens, chateaux, battle re-enactments and many more cultural activities on offer. For the more active there are two rivers to canoe, a nearby watersports centre and tennis courts, whilst a little further afield are a waterpark and treetop adventure parks. There are several golf courses in the area and horse/pony riding is available in nearby villages.There are also many 'special' events peculiar to each town or village a list of which will be provided as the events and dates are released.

The area is a paradise for ramblers and cyclists with walks clearly signposted and weekly arranged local trips into the woodlands. Keen cyclists enjoy the testing hills and gentle lanes to explore.

The area is famous for its wine and food and there are many ferme auberges and restaurants offering everything from snacks to Michelin starred meals.

The village of Limeuil has 4 restaurants, all within walking distance. A few minutes drive away, the village of Tremolat has a further 3 restaurants, 2 ferme auberges and a Michelin starred restaurant and in nearby Paunat, Chez Julien restaurant set in the picturesque grounds of an old abbey is very popular with both locals and visitors alike.

In addition, through late June to early September it's Marche Gourmand time. These events are held in many of the local villages and provide a splendid evening's entertainment. An assortment of freshly prepared local specialities are available from the many stalls set out around the village square where seating and eating areas are arranged. As the evening progresses there is entertainment which goes on into the night providing a fun atmosphere for all the family.

If you enjoy your wine, then why not take a personalised wine tour to some of Bergerac's many vineyards. Our local sommelier will pick you up and take you to your chosen sites. You can even stop off for lunch at the excellent Michelin star Tour de Vents restaurant in the heart of the Monbazillac vineyards. Or why not have an evening wine degustation at the house. Taste eight Bergerac wines whilst enjoying some nibbles and learning about the wines. Ideal if you have young children or just enjoy tasting different wines without having to drive.

Relaxing and quiet

We had a relaxing stay and the owner's parents (who live in a nearby village) could not have been more helpful. The children especially enjoyed playing in the pool after our days out. The terrace is a real bonus, and gives you views over the countryside. The house is well equipped and spacious, with e.g. pool inflatables, picnic bag and kitchen equipment. Children are well catered for with table tennis, badminstin and computer games. We didn't walk into the village as it is a steep walk back and the weather was pretty hot. But it is well worth visiting Limeuil, which is very picturesque, and hiring a canoe. There is plenty to do in the area and Limeuil is only 45 minutes from Bergerac airport. Only negative is that the bedrooms got very hot at night.

Perfect holiday retreat in a wonderful location

Just returned from a wonderful 2 weeks at La Coquille de Noix. The house and pool are lovely, and unusually well kitted out in every way. We arrived late on the Saturday evening, Kris and Dave were waiting and welcomed us warmly. Kris had even got some extra food for a dinner, which was much appreciated. They also provided a wealth of information on the house and things to do, both before and during our stay.

We spent many days just relaxing around the pool, so didn't do too many activities, but particularly enjoyed the Aquarium (and golf and maze) at Le Bugue, the wonderful gardens at Marqueyssac, and a long canoe down the Vezere from Les Eyzes. We also went to a number of Marches Nocturnes, which were good fun (especially when watching Les Bleus play at Euro16!).

All in all a very relaxing holiday at a great location. Kris and Dave were perfect (and yet unobtrusive) hosts and we would highly recommend the villa to families/groups of all ages. We hope to return again soon!

Beautiful home, tranquil location

This home is beautifully and thoughtfully furnished with everything you need for your holiday, and truly feels like a home from home. The attention to detail makes it stand out from other rental properties. The pool was fantastic and the gardens well kept and pretty. We would thoroughly recommend this house for a family holiday.

Wonderful property, stunning views, peaceful and relaxing stay.

This is a wonderful property, recently renovated to a high standard. Accurately, if modestly listed, it was presented in wonderful condition with everything we needed including a wonderful and superbly maintained pool. Booking was easy and we had no call to make any further contact during our stay because we had nothing to complain or worry about!

Several excellent restaurants within walking distance and a useful file containing superb sights and restaurants to visit a little further away. Local bar on the riverside to mix with the locals and watch the euro football with some lively banter!

Thoroughly recommended for a peaceful break in France, with plenty to do and see if you wish but sitting on the covered terrace with a glass of fine wine and the view filled much of our time!

Fully intend to return to the same property.

Stunning Villa in a beautiful location

Relaxing holiday with friends

A group of us wanted a home from home and a chance to relax and de-stress. It was perfect. The house was spacious and had everything we needed. Beautiful pool, comfy sunbeds, a large shady terrace with wonderful views. We were planning on exploring the area, but most days we were having such a good time at the house that the furthest we ventured was the short walk to the end of the road to collect our croissants. Dinners out in the local villages were amazing quality for incredibly good prices! We want to go back next year!

A fantastic house with amazing views.

A fantastic house with everything provided for a very relaxing holiday. The house, pool and gardens were all very clean and well maintained. It was lovely to be able to sit on the terrace and enjoy the views at meal times or a glass of wine. Kris and Dave were great hosts, lovely to be met at the house and to know that they are available to contact to give advice if needed. The swimming pool was lovely and warm and we went in every day. There was plenty to do in the area and we particularly enjoyed visiting Sarlat and Chateau des Milandes. It was great to be able to order bread and croissants from the hotel at the end of the lane and just walk down and get them in the mornings. We would recommend Nulle Part Ailleurs in Tremolat for a great meal out or take away pizzas.

A great family holiday and we would definitely like to return.

Set on a hill above the Dordogne river, La Coquille de Noix is within walking distance of Limeuil,one of the most beautiful villages in France. This medieval fortified village is perched where the Vezere river meets the Dordogne and offers four excellent restaurants and a bar, a small Sunday market selling fresh produce and a weekly night market with entertainment during peak season. Fresh bread & pastries can be ordered from the small hotel at the end of the road. Shops, bakers & supermarkets are only a 5 - 10 minute drive away.

Explore the narrow, cobbled lanes, still home to local artisans, before relaxing on the river bank while children paddle from the pebble beach formed by the bend of the river; or if you’re feeling more energetic, take a trip downriver in a canoe before returning to the ‘Port’ to quench your thirst at the riverside bar.

La Coquille de Noix is also ideally situated for exploring the many popular attractions of the Perigord region by car or cycle. The magnificent chateaux at Beynac and Castelnaud, the walled town of Domme and the prehistoric caves at Les Eyzies and Roc St Christophe are all within easy reach, as well as water parks and treetop adventure parks and we're just 40 minutes drive from Bergerac airport and 2 hours from Bordeaux..

La Coquille de Noix is set in open countryside with panoramic views over the Dordogne valley but only a 30 minute walk into the village of Limeuil with its many restaurants and attractions.The lounge is equipped with Freesat TV, DVD player, plus CD player and a selection of DVDs for the whole family. The seating area on the landing also has a Freesat TV and provides an ideal space for children to enjoy video games or to escape from the main lounge area. The fully equipped kitchen contains a large fridge-freezer, full sized oven with hob, microwave, dishwasher, and all the essentials for a self catering holiday. The lounge and dining room open onto the large south facing covered terrace equipped with table and chairs, easy chairs and gas BBQ. From here steps lead down to the unfenced 10m x 5m pool and patio area equipped with loungers and sun umbrellas. The garden has many mature trees that provide shady places for a relaxing snooze after lunch.
