Guestbook comments from the owner

Anna was such a great host. She told us a lot about Giovinazzo and even booked us a table from a great restaurant. The apartment is excellent and spacious, great location on the historic centre.

Luxury Sea House in Giovinazzo (BARI) - with amazing private sea-view roof
average rating of 5.0 based on 15 reviews

We loved it - so booked it again!!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in Anna's beautiful apartment for the first time for a few nights in October 2015 and before we left, we knew we would return. And we did, for a week just before Easter 2016 and our teenage daughter enjoyed it just as much as we did! On both occasions we just loved staying in the beautiful space that Anna has created in this old Ducal palace, which has so much history and so much modern day comfort. Anna is a fantastic host, always ready to help, answer any questions and full of detailed local knowledge that allows to make the most of your stay. The roof terrace is a great outdoor space to relax and soak up the sun and compliments the lovely interior with it's vast rooms and high ceilings. We absolutely recommend staying in Anna's apartment - and can only apologise to her not writing this review before now.

Owner's Response: Have this family at home has been a unique experience:they are pleasant, outgoing and lovely people. The kind of guests you would like to host all the time, to share a beer at the end of the day; for sure, my favourite guests of the season. Last, but not least, can you believe or not, when they left, we call our cleaning lady asking for not to come: the apt was PERFECT. Thanks Fred, Mary and the guys for your special attention and respect during your visit!

Quel bonheur!

  • 5 of 5

Courez-y vite!

Impressive vacation in Palazzo Ducale

  • 5 of 5

The first two weeks of June 2013 we stayed at the Palazzo Ducale in Giavenazzo in the appartment of Anna Vacca and it was wonderfull. First of all: the appartment is situated on one of most beautifull places you can imagine. In a XVII century Palazzo, overlooking the harbour and the sea. The appartment is modern and feels very comfortable, very well decorated and perfect clean and very well maintained with high ceilings like a Palazzo should be. A big difference with an average vacation house. Anna is very helpfull and friendly and will give you all information you need about places to go and places (local) to eat, don't forget to ask! Giovenazzo is a beautifull small town on the coast of the Adriatic sea. The area is quiet and beautifull with hardly no tourist. Many other small towns worth to visit. The people we've met were friendly and helpfull. You can go around by train (which we did the first week) or rent a car. We definetly will return to this area to enjoy the apartment and see still some more of the surroundings and especially to enjoy again the Italian food!

F & C from Amsterdam.

Toller Aufenthalt!!!

  • 5 of 5

Giovinazzo is a small , marvellous village.

Puglia stretches from the stiletto of Italy's heel to the spur further up the back of the boot. It has a Mediterranean climate with clear blue skies and sunshine for most of the year. It is very 'Italian'! You can find colourful and interesting markets in the towns selling fantastic fruit. vegetables. cheese, meat, fish. Eating out is a real pleasure, again lots of choice and very reasonably priced.

There is plenty to do in the area with many interesting whitewashed hilltop towns, villages with historic centres, Baroque and Romanesque churches and castles. Alberobello lies in the picturesque Itria valley (current Michelin guide recommends a three star drive through the area visiting the towns of Locorotondo and Martina Franca) Selva di Fasano is also well worth a visit. The grotto of Castellana is stunning as well as Castel del Monte, Trani and Bari.

-Visit the beach: Puglia's Adriatic coastline is largely unspoiled. Cycling in Puglia is also a popular activity, and sticking to roads and trails along the coastline helps you uncover hidden gems.

-Explore Alberobello: While the town itself is small, with a population of about 10,000 people, Alberobello is one of the most scenic settlements in Italy. Get lost in its charming trulli neighborhoods and sample some of the most flavorful cuisine in the country.

-Take a vineyard tour: The Puglia countryside is rich with wineries and vineyards, offering a relaxing way to spend the day and affording you the rare opportunity to sample the celebrated local wines at their very source.

-See the Castel del Monte: A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Castel del Monte is just a few miles to the northwest of the town of Bari and is widely considered a must-see. A medieval castle, the Castel del Monte is open to visitors all year round.

-Stroll through botanical gardens: Puglia has a high concentration of botanical gardens for your enjoyment, including La Cutura near Giuggianello and Orto Botanico on the campus of Bari University.

-Take a vineyard tour: The Puglia countryside is rich with wineries and vineyards, offering a relaxing way to spend the day and affording you the rare opportunity to sample the celebrated local wines at their very source.

If you want to explore more of Italy, the scenic and historic city of Naples lies directly to the west. You can also take a train or drive to Rome, only a few hours from Puglia and home to some of the continent's most iconic and historically important attractions.
