About Andrew Light
We fell in love with this home the moment we saw it, and we think you'll love it too. It's a perfect getaway with so much to do nearby. We live in Massachusetts and having a quiet and peaceful place to escape to - winter or summer - has been wonderful.
Andrew Light purchased this House in 2016
What makes this House unique
This is a unique and charming home. A den was added several years ago that is walled with windows, providing an open view of the lake. It's nestled into a cove with few other homes so the privacy and quiet are priceless.

Andrews house was perfect for our family! Clean and comfortable. We especially loved the lake and the fire pit- thanks for a great stay!!
A peaceful weekend away
Exactly as advertised, although the pictures can't do it justice. We swam right off the docks (there is some vegetation growing near the dock as the water is not deep there, but it got deep quickly.) Water temp was simply beautiful - perfect for swimming, kayaking, paddleboarding, all of which we did with equipment provided. Andrew responded within minutes to texts. Kitchen had everything we needed. Strong wifi signal. Everything you need for a great stay!
Two visits with two different experiences
Both were good, just different. In June was here with my sister and nephews = 2 moms and 4 kids ages 15, 11, 11 & 9 for 5 nights. In August was here with 2 friends and their kids = 3 moms and 3 kids aged 11 & 12. Was supposed to be one more mom and kid that couldn’t make it, which was probably best for sleeping arrangements! Downstairs bedroom great sleeping for 2. Upstairs bed could theoretically have 2 people, but the night my 11 year old tried sleeping with me in it I ended up sleeping on the floor. The bunk bed room may be good for kids, but the one mom that tried to sleep in there said it was not a peaceful night. None of this is to show the property in a bad light, but to tell potential renters to assess their particular situation with sleeping arrangements.
When there for 5 nights we were able to appreciate the lake and the surrounding attractions, just wish we knew sooner that the ski resorts had summer activities. We didn’t find that out until the last day when it was too late. 2 nights was definitely too short. We took advantage of the kayaks and canoe but didn’t have time to see anything else.
In one case the kids loved the foosball table, the other they barely touched it. Opposite trip was using the fire bowl when we never made a fire the other time. Just depends what you are into. In both cases having Netflix was good for evening calming down/relaxing.
In both cases swimming off the dock was “gross” for the kids without swim shoes. There is an island that is easy to get to by kayak where they preferred to swim. Fishing off the dock not good! Important since the moms rely on that for kid entertainment so moms can sleep in lol!
Overall this was a nice place to stay.
Peaceful retreat on Lake Rescue
We've stayed several different places on Lake Rescue, but this was our favorite by far. Plenty of beds for our 2 family vacation party. House has dated fixtures, but everything works great and was sparkling clean. Lots if boats for everyone, too. The lake around the dock is mucky, but it's such a quick kayak or canoe trip away from the spillway at Buttermilk Falls it doesn't matter (the swimming is really fun by the falls.) This property is also tucked away on a very quiet and peaceful part of the lake. It makes you feel like you've got the whole place to yourself. Our kiddos had fun exploring the little "trail" through the woods, too. My only complaint is the couches are not very comfy for napping, but there was so much space and peaceful setting, we did little napping. The screened-in bar was perfect for doing a puzzle. We had a great visit and would definitely recommend this property as one of the nicest mid-sized (3 bedroom) spaces on the lake!
Fantastic five-night stay on Lake Rescue
The house was perfect for our family vacation with five adults and an adventuresome six-year-old. Andrew kept in touch after making the reservation and quickly answered any questions we had. He even alerted us to a possible issue that was resolved before we arrived, but we appreciated the heads up. The house was well stocked and nicely cleaned before our arrival. It was refreshing having linens and towels provided, which is not something you see on rentals these days. The beds were all comfortable, and we slept well. We felt very much at home.
When at the house, we relaxed and enjoyed watching the wildlife. We were lucky enough to see a great blue heron fishing in the cove and saw a young deer one morning out the kitchen windows. We spent time fishing off the dock, kayaking around the lake, and just relaxing on the patio or upstairs porch. The six-year-old was able to go out kayaking a few times with an adult because of the bigger kayak provided. At weeks end, she was confidently paddling around the shallow cove in the child-sized open kayak then out cruising in the lake with adults. We appreciated having a variety of kayaks and other boating options.
We spent a day at Okemo's Adventure Zone just 5 minutes away on Rt 103. We went whizzing down the mountain coaster, jumped onto a giant airbag, jumped on a bungee trampoline, and much more. Everyone had a great time. They have zip lines we had done previously and highly recommend them.
We had one day of off and on rain showers, and when they broke, we went to Buttermilk Falls. We had the place to ourselves spent relaxing and exploring the area. The trails we saw to get down to the falls were steep, but are doable if you're careful.
We had a tubing trip down the CT River with Great River Outfitters in Windsor, VT. Unfortunately, the river was running slow, and a ride that generally takes 2-3 hours took over 4. We recommend asking how the river is flowing and choosing rafts or kayaks if it's slow. We had to do a lot of kicking and arm paddling to get moving at times and got pretty tired.
We had a fantastic trip, great weather and would come back and stay again. This was one of our favorite vacations in recent years, and the house and extras provided played a big part in making it that. We were able to relax, enjoy the area, and had everything we needed. Thank you for your hospitality and the care you have taken in making this a welcoming place to stay.
Wonderful summer relaxation spot
Myself, my two sons and a friend of theirs spent a week here and had a wonderful time. The weather and lake were absolutely beautiful. We were out on the kayaks and canoe daily.
The house is cottage like. It is well decorated and the kitchen has everything you could need. The book collection in the house is impressive. Had I not brought 5 books with me, I could have entertained myself for the week with the collection in the house.
While the cottage feels remote, the town of Ludlow is very close with a full grocery store, restaurants, and shops. It's cute and quaint. If you like tacos, don't miss Mojo's. I had a catfish burrito there that was to die for. Goodman's American Pie has outstanding brick oven pizza.
Andrew communicated well and quickly. He was a pleasure to deal with as a host.
Only a few miles from the town of Ludlow, this lake-front home is a perfect base camp for the many activities and sites within a short drive. Or just stay in and enjoy the lake!
