What a super base this is to explore this wonderful area. The view across the loch enticed us to visit the Ardnamurchan peninsula -- a beautiful trip on a glorious autumnal day.

Loch view cottage

  • 5 of 5

The cottage has stunning views over the loch to the mountains behind. It faces West and the sunsets were spectacular. It was very clean and well equipped with everything that we required for our stay. Glen Coe, Oban and Fort William (for Ben Nevis) are all within a short drive which made it perfectly positioned for walking and photography. Kentallen has no shops but the Co-op in Ballachulish is nearby and there is a restaurant directly opposite the cottage.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend the cottage to others.

Lovely home, in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

We spent 5 days in the Glencoe area. After being on the road for 2 weeks, it was nice to settle into this well organized, spacious house. We were able to cook our own meals and appreciated the many cooking utensils. A small request would be to provide soaps to wash our hands in bathrooms and kitchen area. Otherwise, all was perfect. Thank you!!!

Enjoyable stay despite the weather

  • 5 of 5

Super spacious and comfortable house. Especially liked the conservatory where we spent most of our time. We had some trouble finding the property on arrival day but that might have just been us. No spare toilet paper was a bit of a disappointment. Overall an enjoyable week.

Great place, lots of space

  • 4 of 5

Thanks Alan, for accommodating our requests for our climbing weekend. Close to Glencoe so handy for getting to the walks quickly. Warm and spacious house, well equipped, though soap could be viewed as an essential, but then I am particular on hand hygiene. Also couldn't get the main shower to run anything but hot so bit limiting when coming in from long day. But with that sorted would stay again, thanks.

Owner's Response: Hi John, Thank you for your review. Glad you enjoyed your stay at Fernbank. We appreciate your feedback as it helps us to maintain the high standards that we seek to achieve. It would have been helpful if you had drawn our attention to the shower issue at the time of your stay when we could have attended to the matter and resolved the problem for you. Regards the provision of soap most (virtually all) of our guests bring their own toiletries but we usually provide soap dispensers in each of the bathrooms and apologise if this was not the case during you recent stay. Kind regards, Alan

Lovely clean home. just perfect for our family stay.

  • 5 of 5

Overall Fernbank is a lovely home. Alan was very accommodating. We had an order of groceries which was to be delivered between 8 and 9pm. We tried to call the market but they were unable to find our order. Since we had been traveling all day we decided to go for dinner after 9pm. Well the groceries showed up while we were out and Alan made sure they were put inside the entry for us. Above and beyond, thank you Alan. The only comment I would make that was a concern, was that the beds were a little hard and the dryer was a bit confusing to use. But you can't please every one. Lovely views and house more than made up for any inconvenience.
