Roundstone House Rental Photos and Description

Luxury Cottage, Located on the Quay with 'The Best View in Ireland'

Roundstone Rentals (www.roundstonerentals.ie) is proud to bring to you an exclusive self-catering property on the village quay in one of Ireland's most sought after holiday locations.

The Quay House has oil fired central heating, wireless broadband, satellite TV, free parking outside the door, hotel standard beds, linen and goose down duvets

The view from the living room and bedrooms, described as one of the best views in Ireland, is ever changing throughout the seasons. The cottage is located on the pier in the heart of the fishing village of Roundstone in the Connemara region, an area famous worldwide for its picturesque views, award-winning restaurants, fishing, walking and breathtaking beaches. O'Dowds Bar & Restaurant and Vaughan's Roundstone House Hotel, only metres from the house, serve award winning seafood throughout the season.

For those with kayaks or even their own boat, the cottage provide a fantastic base for your holiday where you can step outside your front door and into your boat, moored in the shelter of Roundstone Harbour.

Golden sand and crystal clear water can be found at Gurteen Beach and Dogs Bay, only 2 km away. These beaches are a mecca for swimming and beach combing during the summer months. Climb Errisbeg mountain behind the village and return for O'Dowd's famous seafood chowder, or locally picked mussels prior to a short stroll down the harbour to the luxury of the Quay House

Roundstone Rentals is a small family operated business. We own and manage the Quay properties and make every effort to ensure that our guests have a memorable holiday. We live nearby and are available to meet you on arrival to ensure that you get settled in.

Simply the best place we have ever rented!

  • 5 of 5

This is the best holiday home we've ever rented, and we've rented many! The location is unbeatable, with fantastic views that you never tire of. The house is really well designed and set up, a real house that easily accommodated the five of us, including a two year old. The owners are very friendly, helpful and responsive. Roundstone is the ideal base for exploring west Connemara, with pubs and restaurants a couple of minutes walk from the house. This is THE place to stay if you want a house by the sea in Connemara.

Not to be overlooked!

  • 5 of 5

There is not much to add to the other reviews as they are fair and honest reviews of this special place. I would only say that if you are reading this and considering this house there is nothing to be hesitant about. It is truly special.

We were here the first two weeks in March 2016. The first alone and the second week we were joined by our two daughters, one of which is married. This town and this area far exceeded our expectations. The people that live in the area were kind and helpful. The people that worked in the stores, bar and restaurants were welcoming and very pleasant.

Joe King at King’s Bar has a library of tourist information behind the bar and will give you great advice. Mary, who is the boss at O’Dowd’s (or seems to be) is maybe the nicest person in Ireland. Shawna, from The Shamrock, was great and we had the pleasure of having a pint with her father at O’ Dowd’s. My point is, this is a great town, truly unique and not to be missed.

If you go, here are some tips. Walk on Inish Ni (the island across the bay, make a right at the top of the street and the road to the Island is on the right a few miles) Visit the potter down the road, you must drive the bog road to Cliften (I have driven in New York City and this is much more thrilling), best tourist gift store is Lowery’s in Cliften, Mannion’s in Cliften is very good, Kylemore Abby is over rater and Joyce Country Sheepdogs (http://www.joycecountrysheepdogs.ie/) was great as was the Smokehouse down in Ballyconneely (http://www.smokehouse.ie/).

Rent the Quay house. You will be so glad you did.

Clean warm and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The house is just as described and heating, appliances and equipment all good quality and straightforward to operate. We did have a slight problem with satellite TV reception but the owner was promptly over to fix it. The owner is very approachable and helpful.

We stayed in late January (not top tourist season unless you want to see Connemara at its wildest and wettest) but we really liked the quiet roads and coastal scenery. Galway is a lovely city.

We used the Post Office, well-stocked village store (Fennons?) Kings pub and O'Dowds. All provided excellent service.

Awesome time in Roundstone!

  • 5 of 5

The accommodations were great. We enjoyed the excellent views of the harbor. The town has everything you need. The general store and a great restaurant (You must try the seafood chowder!) in walking distance. We used the home as a base to explore the west side of Ireland. We toured castles, castle ruins and the Cliffs of Moher.

A wonderful house with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

From the first email contact with Anne we felt we would be so welcome in this house. It is a lovely property with stunning views no matter what the weather. For us it was a breath of fresh air to visit a rental house with such a functional kitchen where we had great fun preparing lovely meals from local produce. The owners were lovely and Simon met us on the first eveing to Welcome us and make sure we were settled in. From the first evening we wished we had booked a longer stay. The town is small but the people are very friendly. We ate after our long trip the first day at O Dowds where the staff were friendly and the food was great. The rest of our stay we enjoyed salmon which we bought at the Connemara smoke house.... Wonderful drive there from the house with beautiful views. We would aslo recomend a multi award winning butcher who is doing great things in the charcuterie world like dried lamb etc McGeough's in Oughterard. After all the lovely food we were so happy to chill infront of the open fire and we slept like logs in our comfy beds.Heaven...This is not only a place we would recomend to our friends ...it is a place we would want to share with them. Sorry it all went by so quickly we are missing it already.
