Very comfortable house
We have returned from a weeks stay in Normandy. Upon arrival we were met by Jean Claud, the owner, who has his own house nearby. The village is very peaceful and safe. The house itself is completely fenced apart from the sliding gateway which allows your car to enter, there is a spacious garage to house your car along with any bikes etc.
The house itself is a sympathetic ground up renovation which allows you the feel of a traditional Normandy stay but with everything being modern and state of the art as you would expect with a new house.
There are electrically operated shutters on the downstairs windows and doors for added security though you don't feel as if you need it. It puts your mind at rest if you have passports or other valuables you wish to keep safe whilst out.
There's space everywhere, downstairs a modern kitchen with utility area plus a large family table. Through to a hallway and central staircase then into the lounge area which has ample soft seating and another large dining table. There is also a large downstairs cloakroom with wash basin.
Upstairs there are 3 large double bedrooms with lots of wardrobe space and a family bathroom with separate shower and two further basins. The shower is huge so no fear of catching elbows.
The garden is a very good size and we partly chose this property as we took our labrador. You can sit on the patio and throw a ball a good distance to exercise your pet. There is also a garden table and parasol and stone built BBQ, burning charcol and wood which the host has pre cut and stored safely in the dry garage, this wood could also be used for heating on the large fire place in the lounge, which is modern and guarded. Its was early September so we did not need to light the fire, or make use of the modern heating system, which was a shame as it would no doubt have created a great cosy atmosphere.
Situated 6km to Torigny sur Vire, minutes in the car, where a number of restaurants, bakeries and supermarkets can be found along with a weekly market, public gardens and a boating lake. We had two meals out and the food was excellent and around 12-13 Euro for lunch menu, 3 courses. With good roads going in every direction its a good place to base yourself if you want a central location.
Finally the house and garden are spotless, appearing boxfresh with no evidence of previous occupancy. It has a deep clean after each occupant has left, which is chargeable, but guarantees you a pristine environment.
Absolutely Superb, better than it appears in photos.
Monsieur Corbrion was extremely helpful from first booking the property, very informative throughout. On arrival we were delighted with the gite, it is far better than the photos show. Very comfortable throughout, beautifully appointed and very well equipped. The living/dining room is very spacious, with a beautiful fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with every thing you could need, the bedrooms are spacious and the bathroom is excellent. The whole property is in immaculate condition with a lovely garden and ample parking for 2 or 3 cars.
The property is very secluded at the end of a quiet lane, whilst still being in the village. The location is so quiet and peaceful, an ideal retreat at the end of a day exploring Normandy, This is really an exceptional property, if you are thinking of visiting Normandy, book this gite, I doubt that you will find anywhere better.
Merci Msr Corbrion, and thank your wife also for the lovely Normandy pudding, we would love to visit here again. We really didn't want to leave!
Wonderful property, location & host. The location is brilliant 4 all that Normandy has to off
Our stay here was lovely, the Gite itself was very clean comfortable and has all the modern comforts of home. Jean-Claude, our host, was so lovely full of tips on the best places to go and the nicest food. His wife prepared some Normandy Pudding for our arrival which was delicious.
The location of the Gite is great, and we visited all of the below and our travelling time was never longer that 1hr 45 minutes. We can highly recommend the following places, the market in St Lo on Saturdays, the Truck Stop in Guilberville, we were sceptical but it was a great experience, with bottomless wine or cider!!! Another great Resturant we visited twice is Saint Michel in Domjean, about 6km from the Gite, we hoped to go the Château Rouge (1.5km away) but just ran out of time. Honfleur, Bonfleur, Mont St Michel and Grandville all were lovely.
Bayeux, the Taestry and Caen - - all were fabulous.
Now for the real reason we visited Normandy was the beaches and the War Graves. Bayeux is the main UK graves with the Americans at Coleville. Both were very emotional but the American site you will it find a blade of grass out of place. Just along from here is Grand Maisie you will find the German graves.
Please do visit the beaches they are an eye opener, Sword, Gold, Juno, Omagh and Utah all have some great museums that all all worth a visits.
One of the highlights was Pegasus Bridge and the UK graves at Ranville, this is a very moving visit and none of us left without shedding a tear.
All in all we have had a really fabulous time and we would certainly both recommend and return to the area and to this property. Thank you Jean-Claude and Merci
We were visiting Normandy and Brittany and this house could not have been better. Guilberville is a lovely village, so quiet, but with a sweet little boulangerie. Meanwhile, it was just one minute from two highways, one which takes you west to Brittany and one that goes north to Normandy. Jean-Claude was the perfect host. Had fresh flowers and fruit awaiting us when we arrived. The house is great. All of the latest accoutrements, as it was built (re-built on its site) in 2012. We will be spreading word of this place to all of our family and friends.
A beautiful roomy house in a nice quite location
We had a lovely stay, the rooms were very clean with comfortable beds and loads of room. There was plenty of crockery and utilities in the kitchen with various places to eat with tables in the kitchen, lounge and outside in the huge garden. We especially liked the BBQ built into the wall. I would defiantly recommend a stay here.
Fantastic gite and a great place to stay
A fantastic, clean, spacious gite - the pictures do not do it justice! Situated in a small, quiet, peaceful village not far from the main roads (though you don't hear any noise from the traffic), it was a perfect base to see some of this region - Mont St Michel was only 50mins away.
Mr. Corbrion was very welcoming and he brought us a freshly baked Normandy pudding (made by his wife) on our arrival - it was delicious.
I had read on one of the reviews that there was no kettle and so I brought one with us (as we love our cups of tea!), I needn't have bothered as an electric kettle was already there.
I would highly recommend this gite and we hope to return soon.
Not far from the sea, the location is ideal to discover the wealth of the department of Manche in the heart of Normandy, Mont Saint-Michel, Haras de Saint-Lô, the Normandy beaches, Saint-Malo, bungee jumping , Normandy, the Channel Islands ...
