Distinctive Waterfront Property With Spectacular Views Of Tomales Bay.
About Sandy Ludlow
We have been Bay Area residents for over 25 years. We love traveling, hiking, bird watching, sailing, architecture, fine art, and great food. Inverness and Point Reyes are among our favorite places in the world. Being in the design profession, we appreciate the original character and simple elegance of the cottage and hope you will too. We enjoy sharing our special place with guests and go out of our way to provide a memorable and relaxing experience that will make you want to come back again and again.
Sandy Ludlow purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Sandy Ludlow chose Inverness
We purchased Sea Star cottage for a number of reasons: Firstly, it is impossibly romantic! The cottage sits on piers over the water on Tomales Bay. The views are breathtaking and it is the most tranquil place you can imagine. We love the simple, rustic elegance of the cottage architecture. It has been completely renovated yet maintains its original charm of the 1920s. The interior is inviting, cozy and stylish. The cottage is located in Inverness, a small town on the shores of Tomales Bay and among the best- preserved marine and wildlife habitats in the United States. It is beautiful at any time of the year. We love birdwatching, and for us there is no better place for watching birds than from the cottage deck, which sits on piers over the tidal waters. It’s simply magical. “Spot,” our own seagull, greets you on arrival and thinks of himself as your personal concierge, especially at feeding time. The cottage is a five-minute drive from acclaimed Point Reyes National Seashore and Park. We love being outdoors and this is a perfect place for hiking, cycling, kayaking, visiting beaches and witnessing wildlife migrations (whales, sea lions and a variety of bird species). We love fine food and the area is known for organic farming, artisanal foods, cheese, fresh oysters and acclaimed restaurants.
What makes this Cottage unique
The cottage sits on piers over the tidal waters of Tomales Bay. Its unique location provides some of the best views of any property in Inverness. The cottage is charming, authentic, comfortable and stylish. It was built in the early 1900s, and although it has been completely renovated, the original design integrity has been maintained. It is surrounded by wildlife and nature, making it an outstanding destination for unplugging from the stress of modern life.

A Seaside Gem
Great accommodations in a gorgeous setting. The outside deck overlooking the bay is a nice spot to enjoy some wine and local cheeses. The perfect getaway!
Thank you so much for another return visit to the cottage. We are delighted that you and Elisabeth had a memorable 28th anniversary. Thanks also for your review. We are most grateful. We look forward to seeing you again next year. Cheers, Sandy
Cozy coastal peace
Can't say enough lovely things about the host, the way they have curated this coastal getaway cottage that would be as great in the winter as the summer...we loved waking up to the morning light across the bay, watching birds with steaming mugs of coffee and tea, feet in the sand at low tide off the cottage patio. We slept deeply in the vast and comfy bed and didn't want to leave. All consistent with everyone who stays here...it's a gem.
Our return stay: our fourth/our 40th annvy.!
A tranquil haven. Whether listening to the tidal waters moving beneath the cottage, gazing across the bay to the West Marin Hills from the deck, or enjoying a cozy evening by the gas fire.
A unique place from which to view boaters on the bay and follow the efforts of shorebirds and others' gliding flights.
Will we find other celebratory reasons for a stay...absolutely!
Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was our pleasure welcoming you and Paula for another celebration. Happy 40th anniversary. Looking forward to your next visit. Take care.
Will be back, can't come soon enough.
Our favorite getaway of all time, and that's saying a lot. Eclectic but very artistic tastes, that just happen to perfectly match ours -
This is such a nice review, Nathan! Thank you so very much.. We are delighted that you and Paula had a nice time and we are looking forward to your next visit. My best to you both.
Relaxing, peaceful, romantic getaway
If you want a quiet, get-away-from-it-all, romantic stay for two then this is your place. The cottage is comfortable, clean, and nicely decorated and has the most beautiful view of the bay and the hills beyond. I love watching the tide roll in, right on up and under the cottage.
Thank you so much for your very kind review. We are delighted to receive it. It was our pleasure welcoming you and Darrell and we hope you will visit us again soon. My best to you both.
