Firefly Cottages are two secluded, ecological cottages overlooking Spring Hill ravine on the historic island of Nevis. They sit on stilts above the forest canopy and are gently integrated into the tropical landscape. In a glen between the cottages is a hillside pool with a sun deck.
The non-intrusive building style and the small stream below the cottages make them one of the best locations from which to view the island's wildlife. At night, the forest below is lit by dancing fireflies. And in the morning, chattering monkeys swing by in the tree tops right next to the balconies. More than sixty species of birds populate the forest below. After a heavy rain higher up on the mountain, you can hear the rushing of water in the stream, along with some very happy frogs.
The cottages are completely self-contained, with fully-equipped kitchenettes and full bathrooms with showers. They are air-conditioned and have ceiling fans. The dining area of each cottage is located on the balcony.
Surroundings : Firefly Cottages are perched on a mountainside, overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
The beach is minutes away. A walking trail passes directly in front of the cottages, leading to the ruins of the Spring Hill sugar estate, now mostly overgrown by jungle.

Driving along the island's main road on the north west coast, you notice immediately that three things dominate your First impressions of Nevis: the mountain (Nevis peak, 3300 ft), the sea, and the wide-open spaces. Soon, you make a turn and follow a well-maintained strip road toward the mountain. You're on your way to the Fire Fly cottages. A few houses to the left, some to the right, for about one kilometre. As you ascend, the views become more spectacular. And the air feels refreshingly cool. And then, the road ends. We've arrived.
But where are the cottages? you ask yourself. There's only a wall of trees, along with thickets of bamboo. Or so it seems. But walk a few yards farther, then follow a stone pathway on your left, and you're there. A cabin with wood shingles, built on stilts, overlooking a forested ravine still unchanged since long before the arrival of Christopher Columbus. Wild, exotic, and special.(Two previous guests remarked that it could have been Borneo!)
