Breathtaking view of the Alpilles, Peaceful retreat in modern duplex in Country

Le Mazet du Soleil is situated just 9 km from Saint Remy de Provence, between Avignon and Arles in the heart of the Alpilles countryside. Our recently renovated duplex, which is part of our 18th century Mas (country house), will give you the opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the Alpilles and the Provençal countryside. An excellent place to relax after a day in Avignon, Nimes, Arles or at the sea.

The duplex includes a spacious (28 m²) bedroom, on the first floor with a cathedral ceiling, and a beautiful stone wall and a high ceiling. There is a comfortable double bed (140 cm) and a single bed. (90 cm). Ideal for a couple, or a small family (2 children) as the beds are in the same room. (no additional fee for children). Also possible for three travelers.

The kitchen is fully equipped (dishwasher, washing machine, hob unit, fridge, microwave, toaster. The living area (27 m²), opens out onto the garden which is surrounded by fields.

The perfect place for relaxing in the garden or by the pool.

We have a very good WIFI connection.

Ideal if you're looking for an escape away from a busy city or work environment with walks in the Alpilles or cycling. An artist's paradise with the changing colors of the countryside and the sky. You can also relax, play table tennis or badminton, or simply enjoy the garden. The duplex also has its own BBQ.

We are situated 2km from the village, Saint Etienne du Grès, in the heart of Provence and at the foot of the Alpilles. There are some excellent shops in the village: a baker's, famous for its "fougasse", butcher's, grocer's and florist's.

We have a producer's market in the village which is held three times a week. Here, the local farmers sell fresh produce directly to the consumers. There are also excellent local markets in nearby villages.

There are some excellent restaurants, two in the village, and many others in nearby villages, in particular in Saint Remy de Provence and Maussane.

We are situated at the foot of the regional park of Les Alpilles, just 9km from the charming village of Saint Remy de Provence, and the archaeologic site of Glanum, 6km from Fontvieille, (home of Alphonse Daudet), 10 km from Les Baux de Provence, 15 km from Arles, (a UNESCO city), 20 km south of Avignon and its famous drama festival in July, and 9km from Tarascon (nearest train station). 40 minutes from Aix-en-Provence, also close to the Lubéron and Mont Ventoux, the Camargue and its beaches at Saintes Marie de la Mer and Le Pont du Gard. (25 minutes by car).

For Golf lovers, there are some beautiful golf courses in Les Baux-de-Provence ( 9 holes).

You will need a car, as, although just 2km from the village, we are on a country road. You'll find our place ideal for cycling and walking in the Alpilles. If you like horse-riding, there are many riding stables close-by. Riding lessons can easily be organized, either at the local riding stables, or in the Camargue.

Our new pool (4m x 10m) is now available.

Bikes are available, free of charge.

You'll love the area as there's so much to visit and Provence is just beautiful. Make sure you book enough days to visit, most of our visitors want to stay longer! We recommend at least 4 days!

We're a Anglo-French family of 4 living in Provence. We're well-traveled. We love the beauty of the nature in Provence. Having worked for international firms in Paris, Montreal, Barcelona, London we now appreciate living in the heart of the country.

We fell in love with the farm house when we first saw it.

It was built in 1789 and was originally a goats' farm.

We have carried out major renovation work over the years and have created a modern-style interior whilst keeping the heart of the original building.

The view over the Alpilles is unique - few people enjoy such a view and.... it's never the same.

A walk into the beautiful Alpilles (little Alps) from the village, or by bike, the Provençal villages or the Roman towns of Arles, Avignon and Orange are well worth visiting. The Pont du Gard, and preferably hiring a canoe dans le Gardon is a wonderful way to spend the day. So much to explore and appreciate. You'll love it!
