The property consists of the farmhouse where the owners live and the house which is a nicely restored barn. It is a delightful brick-red building on a rich green lawn surrounded by gardens and woodland. The rooms are spacious and airy with high beamed ceilings and traditional tiled floors. There is accommodation for four-to six guests, in two double bedrooms (each with a bathroom) and a double divan bed in the large living room. The kitchen is well equipped and there is an outside dining area, shaded by a traditional pergola. The swimming pool is close to the house. The property is completely fenced and the parking place is inside.
We are a couple, my husband and me, we live in the countryhouse beside.
Angela Roher purchased this villa in 1985
We are very happy to live in this place, in the middle of the nature and so close to the town.
From the property, in the middle of the nature, you have a beautiful view to the Convent of San Cerbone and the surrounding countryside invites you to go for walks or ride the bicycle.
A wonderful location, quiet Tuscan countryside yet so near to the lovely city of Lucca. Our hosts Angela and Davino were really welcoming yet discreet, nothing is too much trouble and they will help making taxi bookings as well as restaurant reservations. The villa itself is well equiped, clean and comfortable, hanging on the walls are many wonderful oil paintings some of which have been painted by Angela. The outside space is magnificent, the views from the pool are stunning and the pool itself is a fabulous size. Thank you we can't wait to return, hopefully next year.
Fabulous location near Lucca offering excellent access to Lucca, Florence, Pisa and Cinqe Terres. Very spacious inside, a real home from home and very well equipped. Angela and Davino were very welcoming hosts and we really appreciated the home grown tomatoes and figs from their garden. Very quiet location and gorgeous country views.
The pool was very private and a fantastic size... But make sure you stock up on the insect repellant as the flies were a real nuisance early morning and late afternoon.
We couldn't recommend this villa highly enough and definitely hope to return.
We were lucky enough to stay here for a prolonged stay of several months and we were SO happy to have picked this villa! Angela and Davino were friendly and helpful, they responded quickly to all our needs and offered some brilliant suggestions for places to eat and activities. They work so hard to maintain the grounds and buildings. The villa itself was ideal for us and the many friends who came to visit. It is well appointed and clean and authentically Italian. The pool is beautiful and we were able to use the table tennis table and bikes that were provided. Lucca is easily accessible and a beautiful town, and yet you are in the glorious countryside with lots of lovely walks from the villa. Even after 3 months there were still places we wanted to see and things we wanted to do - the location is ideal for short trips to the coast, Pisa and Florence and then day trips to Volterra, San Gimignano and Carrara. Tuscany is such lovely area of Italy. We will definitely be back!
We have just spent 3 beautiful weeks at La Mimosa and have had a wonderful time. Most of all we loved:
- Angela & Davino: the most lovely hosts one can imagine
- their friendly animals who adopted us immediately
- the pool in which we swam every day
- the proximity to charming Luca as well as the white sandy beaches
- the beautiful adorable house, fully equipped with everything one might need
- the Gelateria and Trattoria close-by
Luckily we cooked a few glasses of marmelade out of the sweet garden fruits at La Mimosa which now remind us every morning of our great vacation at Angela & Davino. Thank you again, you are wonderful!
We have just returned from the most amazing stay at La Mimosa. The house is comfortable and very well equipped and the grounds are beautiful, not to mention the amazing swimming pool which we had all to ourselves for two whole weeks - our children could not believe their luck! The weather was also fabulous - between 27-34C every day with a couple of awesome thunderstorms in the night during our stay! The house is also perfectly located for easy reach of a beautiful beach, Pisa, Florence and San Gimignano, all of which we visited and loved, but our favourite place to visit was Lucca, literally a 5 minute drive away. We would like to thank Angela and Davino for being very friendly and helpful hosts, and cannot recommend La Mimosa highly enough. We had the perfect family holiday and will never forget it!
Picturesque and cozy, this farmhouse made my first trip to Italy everything I'd hoped it would be. My friend and I both had our own rooms and bathrooms. The communal space was rustic looking but did not spare on comfort. There was heat since we visited in December. I'd love to make a return trip to stay during warmer weather and make use of the pool! The view from the couch was amazing---a convent nesting in the mountains. There's was also an working fireplace, reliable internet and a fully equipped kitchen. We loved staying here. Angela and Davino were so kind. Her art is deployed throughout the villa. How talented! The villa is a shirt drive to historical Lucca and very close to shopping where we stocked up on groceries. We loved it and would definitely make a return visit. :)
The property 'La Mimosa' is situated in a beautiful Tuscan countryside just 4 kilometres distant from the town of Lucca. It is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and wooded hills amidst ancient churches, villas and farmhouses. The quiet location with its view over the plains of Lucca and across the hilly countryside and the fresh air combine to make the property a perfect retreat to relax and unwind. The swimming pool is located next to the house and has a beautiful view to the Convent of San Cerbone. Enjoy the surrounding countryside which invites for walking, jogging and cycling. There is also a tennis club and a practice golf range 2 kilometres distant. 'La Mimosa' is an excellent base for a holiday in Tuscany.
Lucca is a delightful town, a treasure trove of art, architecture and culture. Its famous walls enclose an unspoiled centre with countless churches, museums, palazzi and towers. There is an active social scene including art exhibitions, theatre and music. Regular markets sell local produce, antiques and craft works and there are many good reataurants, bars and shops to enjoy.
If you want to wander there is plenty to choose from the beaches of Viareggio and the Versilian Riviera (25 km), the beautiful nature reserves of the Garfagnana and the Apuan Alps (40-50 km). To the north the Cinque Terre and to the south the Maremma with its ancient Etruscan sites of Baratti and Populonia are both worth a day trip. Pisa (16 km), Florence (65 km) and Siena are all within easy reach as are the famous vineyards of Chianti.
